Classic Format Live Today - The Hottest Decks To Start With
With Patch 20.0 the Classic Format will go live and we will all be able to journey back to 2014 and the glorious beginning of the game. You get a Golden Classic pack just for logging in after the patch goes live! To help with playing we put together a list of some of the best decks of that era!
Many of these decks have great guides, so be sure to open up the deck page and read for some insight into what makes Classic decks tick.
But, I hear you say, I dusted my Wild Collection, I have none of these cards, but I want to play: Don't worry, we put a deck at the very end that is made of just basic cards and still works.
Ready for some nostalgia? The Classic format invites players to craft decks and compete using Hearthstone’s original 240 cards as they were in 2014, the year that Hearthstone launched! When the patch lands on March 25, your entire collection of relevant Basic, Classic, and Hall of Fame cards will be mirrored and available for deck building in the Classic format—as they were in the 1.0.0.5832 patch of June 2014 (after we made a few important changes), with any and all balance changes since then reverted. Classic packs will now add to your Collection for the Classic format, as well as the Legacy set in Wild. The Classic format leaderboards will launch on March 30. Guys I'm playing control warr now! I finally have all the cards to make the deck! Didn't get the chance to play it back in the day. But now I'm having fun with it! This is cool!
Will we be able to play cards from core in Classic? I feel it is kind of a waste for me to craft Cairne, Faceless and stuff if they will be given to us for free the next Tuesday.
Honestly i'm mildly interested with this one. A lot changed, mostly for worse, during all the years of HS and similar retro-style formats are actually mildly popular in other card games (Oldschool 93/94 in MTG, GOAT format in Yu-gi-oh! etc.).
Yes, the metagame will be more stable but that's actually a good thing - It's easier to become successful and learn the format when top decks are not changing every few weeks and even with small card pool best decks should flow naturally from one to another along with trends.
Also it will be much more cheaper thanks to this slower changing metagame, only handful of cards and plenty of staples seeing play in multiple decks. It's ideal format for budget player.
I actually think that Classic format will be successful. Yes, most players will not be interested with it but the few that will probably will be playing HS exclusively because of it. It's healthier, more stable, cheaper and easier to grasp alternative to fast-changing, quite expensive, usually not that healthy and overly complicated standard or clusterfuck that is wild.
Hey if it's dead in 2 weeks its still more of a success than Duels!!
Blizzard if you are reading this, you need to go back and look at the arena/sealed format again. As you seem to have overlooked it, and are rejogging other modes instead, like dungeon runs (which were great, for a while atleast) with Duels, which was a terrible idea, or Oldschool hearthstone with classic, which is only slightly better...
Yes I know it is hard to monetize - but it is the mode that rewards skill over all the others, you can't just netdeck you way to victory, or pay2win. The power level of the decks doesn't just create "I win" situations all the time, atleast not in the first few turns. The only reason its not more popular is your rewards structure punishes people learnin the mode, and the entry barrier is rather high in the first place. The gamplay is satisfying, and crucially, more fair, especially over mutliple runs.
Do something spicey with a new sealed format, that rewards skill, not random OP BS like Duels, or netdecking, like cosntructed/classic.
This, right here, is why Classic will fail super hard: netdecking. The reason why HS felt great in 2014 was bc netdecking was very inefficient back then, no statistics to show which lists were strictly better, so the metas used to take longer to get figured out.
Ppl now know which lists are the best in Classic since day 1, does that sound fun to you?

Deckbuilder recognizes copied deck codes as wild format decks (or at least that was the case for me). I just had to build them manually and problem solved.
About the golden card obtained from rewards, they were added to your collection, but according to a blizz post i saw on their forums, you wont be able to see them until Barrens releases.
