Datamining: Wailing Caverns Card Set Found
While going through the game data, the HearthPwn staff found something highly interesting, a new card set named "Wailing Caverns" mixed in with other new sets, like Forged in the Barrens, Legacy and Core!
Truth be told that any Card Set name found here would have been interesting news, but this set in particular is interesting, because it has a very obvious link to the Barrens area in Warcraft. Wailing Caverns is one of the very first dungeon instances you can enter in World of Warcraft and is located in the middle of the Barrens.
Mini Set?
So a Card set with links to the Barrens, separate from the main expansion? That sounds a lot like what Blizzard did for the Madness at the Darkmoon Faire expansion, when they introduced a previously untouched part of the Darkmoon Faire with the Darkmoon Races mini-set. There is very little in the main Forged in the Barrens card set that links to the Wailing Caverns, when it is such an integral part of the zone.
In fact, it is such an integral part of the zone, that it is featured in official art Blizzard released for Forged in the Barrens, yet almost nothing of the card set deals with the Wailing Caverns or the trouble that emanates from it. Contrast this to the many references to the Quilboar and the Razorfen dungeons and the lack of mention is downright suspicious.

Conclusion
While Blizzard has yet to announce anything to do with Wailing Caverns, it seems clear something will be done with the area, given the art and the datamined set name. Leave a comment with your thoughts and ideas about what this all could mean and what features from the Wailing Caverns you would like to see in Hearthstone!

The Druid of the Fang was already referring to the Wailing Caverns in his Flavor:
Having played WoW for almost 15 years and having visited the Wailing Caverns more times than I can remember, I'm pretty hyped about this possible future set. Or maybe a singlepayer mode? Sort of Dungeon Run where you get to battle the numerous dungeon bosses of WC.
It was UBRS.
Upper Blackrock Spire.
were is the Spoiler alert? hype
Never played wow, but is it the dungeon where leeroy was born?
Nope, that dungeon was the Lower Blackrock Spire
nope it was one of Blackrock raids
Looking forward to Druids of the Fang
Makes sense for the progression of the expansion for mini-set.
I just hate running this instance.
At least you can't fail to jump the chasm anymore ;)
HEY! I only fell once in 2004, my computer ran wow at a cool 8 fps, it wasn't my fault
Well done Hearthpwn team!
Hope in mini expansion because the new exp is pretty weak.
Death demon hunter doesn't have engine
Priest: good luck
shaman: meh
probably paladin and mage are interesting to play but nothing to compared to the first expansion of the previous year "descendant of dragons" and "ashes of outlands"
There was Stockades and DM for Alliance
actually, back in Vanilla days, the Wailing Caverns were an almost horde-only dungeon. Allies reached the Barrens almost exclusively via Booty Bay and ship and at that point you were between level 30 and 40 (and Wailng Caverns had no useful loot at those levels).
Mutanus the Devourer for Murloc Shaman? :D
So it will have a lot of druid / poison / snakes content. I remember Lady Anacondra, Lord Cobrahn, Lord Serpentis
Druid of the Fang "Snakes. It HAS to be snakesss!"
So for everyone complaining about Edwin, watch the alliance themed expansion being Westfall, the mini set being Deadmines and Edwin coming back.
