Datamining: Wailing Caverns Card Set Found
While going through the game data, the HearthPwn staff found something highly interesting, a new card set named "Wailing Caverns" mixed in with other new sets, like Forged in the Barrens, Legacy and Core!
Truth be told that any Card Set name found here would have been interesting news, but this set in particular is interesting, because it has a very obvious link to the Barrens area in Warcraft. Wailing Caverns is one of the very first dungeon instances you can enter in World of Warcraft and is located in the middle of the Barrens.
Mini Set?
So a Card set with links to the Barrens, separate from the main expansion? That sounds a lot like what Blizzard did for the Madness at the Darkmoon Faire expansion, when they introduced a previously untouched part of the Darkmoon Faire with the Darkmoon Races mini-set. There is very little in the main Forged in the Barrens card set that links to the Wailing Caverns, when it is such an integral part of the zone.
In fact, it is such an integral part of the zone, that it is featured in official art Blizzard released for Forged in the Barrens, yet almost nothing of the card set deals with the Wailing Caverns or the trouble that emanates from it. Contrast this to the many references to the Quilboar and the Razorfen dungeons and the lack of mention is downright suspicious.

Conclusion
While Blizzard has yet to announce anything to do with Wailing Caverns, it seems clear something will be done with the area, given the art and the datamined set name. Leave a comment with your thoughts and ideas about what this all could mean and what features from the Wailing Caverns you would like to see in Hearthstone!

That would actually be hilarious.
They've reprinted characters with a different card name many times, so they could totally do it.
I know people want Westfall, but during the livestream they hinted that the mercs would be level 40 in the next expansion, implying it'll feature a higher level zone. They'll be level 60 for the final expansion of the year, which looks likely to be Alterac Valley.
As we already know Main Set + Mini Set is how Hearthstone expansions will be rolled out from now on, my gut reaction when hearing Wailing Caverns was "Mini Set name for FitB". I'm not alone either as I see xskarma and many others here also think the very same thing. Knowing the name of the Mini Set with the expansion yet to be released makes me feel very in the loop and that's why we're here to begin with, to learn through sharing. Either way, that's an amazing find by the team here. Thank you and keep up the good work!
Summons pls
'member the maze like start to Wailing Caverns that confused so many newbs that they nerfed it in some Post-Cataclysm patch? I 'member.
<-- Warlock main/summon bot
True, I recall that, never had an issue myself, ran that in classic so many times until I memorized it.
WC maze entry? You are big baby, watch this: ST and Mara entrances
Try doing sunken temple pre nerf with a group of first timers :D
Wow you stroke a chord there... I remember running ST in vanilla, all members 1st time there, we spent around 4-5 hours in order to clear it..! Those were the days of pure exploration of the unknown!!
After seeing no cards revealed related to the Wailing Caverns that was my guess that it's gonna be the miniset's theme, makes sense.
Exactly. Wailing Caverns was mine and so many other people's first experience in group content in MMOs. When I haven't seen any WC cards in an expansion centered around the Barrens, it was kind of obvious that the mini set has to be it.
So any hot Fish ladies we know about ?
Ahhh, I kinda forgot they didn't put Naralex into the Forged in the Barrens set.
That'll probably be the mini-set legendary.
Mini set IMO.
Yep. That was confirmed a while back. Every expansion in Year fo the Gryphon will have a mini set. It makes a ton of sense for Wailing Caverns to be this expansion's one.
Ah, that makes a lot of sense then. Definitely seems appropriate!
So, did they say already that every expansion will get a mini set, or every year will get one?
What I mean is, a mini set following the Barrens would make sense, but if they do WC at the end of the year, it would probably seem out of place.
Could this also hint at some solo adventure content this expansion? I guess the Mercenaries stuff is probably going to be our extra content for now.
I checked this code recently to. I did find fitness coach Illadin referenced somewhere. Anyone know what that might be? Think it's been there for a while.
Plot twist: it's the small set that will be released 1-2 months after Forged in the Barrens
