Eric Dodds Interview: Blackrock Mountain, Dr. Boom, Karazhan, Tutorial
Ben Brode on Blackrock Mountain
Hahahahaha! Ben Brode and Ben Thompson sat down with IGN Netherlands to discuss Blackrock Mountain. Not a whole lot was said that wasn't in the Eric Dodds Interview we posted a couple of days ago, but there were a couple of points worth mentioning. Read the full interview (in Dutch) over here.
Quote from Ben Brode & Ben Thompson
- We will see all the Blackrock Mountain cards before the adventure is released.
- The cards in the BRM set will not be as random as the Goblins vs Gnomes expansion.
- Not all the fights in Naxxramas were as fun as they could have been, and they believe they have achieved fun fights for all of BRM.
- They chose to add two class cards for each class this time around with the goal that there will be huge shifts in the meta.
- No short or long term plans to add more classes to the game.
Deck Spotlight: Lykan's Ramp Druid
In tonight's deck spotlight we're looking at a slightly modified Ramp Druid deck which Lykan has used to climb up from rank 16 to Legend this season. If you're looking for a solid deck, Ramp Druid has always been a favourite of many, and is very consistent.
This variant of ramp has some meta-specific choices such as Loatheb to help curb Oil Rogue, and to limit their responses once you've built up a nice board. Kezan Mystic is also available if you're running into a lot of secret oriented decks, but can be replaced with a Piloted Shredder if you aren't. Lykan does note that he did not have access to Cenarius, which explains the addition of Ragnaros the Firelord, so you may prefer to run Cenarius in that slot if you have him.
At 8700 dust, it is on the pricey side of decks, but that cost does get reduced when you factor in already owning the flavor of the month, Dr. Boom. Check out the deck guide to get yourself ramping up, and check out the deck below to get building!

cool!
But it happened 2 months ago... Are you allowed to comment on old posts liike that?
Druid FTW!
Looking forward for the new cards...
Urgh i have a question here.. why would anyone pre-order before seeing most if not all the cards? like srsly blizzard.. there are 5 days left and we have 7 out of 31 cards revealed so far..
1: If you intend to keep plaing this game, you've got to have all the cards to keep being competitive. They obviously wouldnt releas an exp with no relevant cards, for financial reasons.
2: If you preorder, you spend less money.
3: If you preorder you get an extra card back.
Cheers :)
Ahem, and then there are people that actually like the single player content ^^
Feeling disappointed that a new class is not on the horizon? I'm still waiting for pink colored spells in MtG.
Dancer Class?
Shame that we won't see a new class. A new Class(es) and new cards would be interesting.
"The cards in the BRM set will not be as random as the Goblins vs Gnomes expansion."
When did I see that before?
I don't know, where? Because other than GvG, which had a random theme, the only other expansion has been Naxx, which had very little randomness, so I'm unsure what you're getting at.
I guess it was when they announced GvG and said that there would less RNG in that expansion.
They said they would try to reduce the amount of RNG in expansions, but then, they announced GvG.
Perhaps... Like people have been pointing out, to (if/when) catch new classes up, they'd be released as an expansion, with most of the cards to obtain in it their class-specific? That's the only way I can see them getting up to speed with the existing classes in one foul swoop.
I want to see more cards so bad! Also im no so excited about a new class, it will be cool but very hard to balance, so...
We'll definitely see another card or two this week, and then card released should ramp up towards the end of March. I expect we'll have seen half the set by a few days before the launch, with a 15 card dump right before it goes live. The other two card expansions have followed the same trend.
I thought that all the new cards will be revealed before the pre-order starts (19th March)...
I'm glad they realized that Naxx wasn't as fun as it was expected to be. Some of the fights felt like straight up luck of the draw matches with no real interesting twist to them. I'm cautiously optimistic they've nailed the right "fun" factor for BRM.
I agree with no new classes; especially with all of the new players that will jump in when the phone versions release
