What a boring card. Sigh...
Let's compare damage with self-sharpening sword:
no poisons: shank = 4 damage; SSS = 10 damage
1 poison: Shank = 12 damage; SSS = 18 damage
2 Poisons: Shank = 24 damage; SSS = 26 damage
3 Poisons: Shank = 40 damage; SSS = 34 damage
If you can manage to get 3 poisons on this, it is objectively better than sss. At 2 poisons, they are about the same, but shank sacrifices a tiny bit of damage in order to do higher damage on the first couple swings. Definitely worse at a base level and even 1 poison wouldn't be enough to run this card over sss. Probably would want to run wand makers and the new paralytic poison if you run this over sss.
This is assuming you play all 3 poisons before you make a single attack though. That is highly unlikely.
Sure, that will change the cap damage, but the differences stay pretty similar. For example, if you add 1 poison after the first swing, shank does 10 damage and self sharpening sword does 16, 2 poisons would be 20 damage for shank and 22 damage for sss. Damage differences are exactly the same, just affects the efficiency ratio slightly.
or you play both, and almost always have a weapon on turn 3 to work with.
In Standard next year: Deadly Poison, Nitroboost Poison, Paralytic Poison
Also in Wild: Leeching Poison
More cards that interact with specific names please.
seems aight, prolly better after Self-Sharpening Sword rotates or gets nerfed
Well sure ain't gonna rotate
it will next year
i totally hate this card 100%. I cant like weapons in rogue sinse the archtype is so overpushed when the anti-weapon cards are just not good enough to be run on ladder. We really need a card that actually punish overbuffed weapons. Stealing is not good enough because usually you are in a class that has not way to get profit of the weapon anyways and either is too late (you eat too much damage) or too early (your opponent still have plenty of buff left).
And im sorry for rogue players but is not fun to play against weapons anymore in this game. Either Rogue or Demon Hunter both classes in this particular meta just show us how strong weapons smashing the face every turn EVEN if you are losing the board is enough of a wincondition against most decks when there is not an actual counterplay.
And what are you playing? secret mage? mechathun lock? rez preist?
None. I play regulard control priest, my own update version or Galakron rogue, sometimes tempo DH. I dont play combo decks or any kind of Easy top tier 1 decks. Or wild (i should start for that).
Nobody plays mechathun warlock anymore, where have you been?
i belive he just name a couple of random "unfair decks" because he wants to asume that i play something like that and tell me "well you play unfun decks too" or something on those lines.
No, just that everyone has some deck they play that everyone complains about. Who's assuming now?
I do actually
I dont complain about a particular deck but how weapons are working in standard right now (and kind of wild but atleast there you have the Gluttonous Ooze) like really in rotation there is a good amount of times that you can just lose to weapon value.
Either Warrior or Rogue and yeah mostly Rogue but it feels really like a fail on design all this weapon support when there is not a reall good way to dealt with weapons except our pirate friend and hope that you opponent make the missplay of go really hard into one weapon. And even if you steal the weapon usually that weapon generates a lot of value already. There is a lot of decks to complain for other stuff? yeah sure but this is not about a particular deck but a situation in rotation standard.
Yeah i dont really like these weapon damage combo decks, be it rogue, demon hunter or warrior. So little counterplay, all you can really do seems to be outliving them with taunts, or very maybe with weapon removal. Its fresh, sure, but its also quite unfun to have so few ways to interact. For me its the thing that made demon hunter fail as a new class as of yet. Hopefully the new deathrattle support finally brings an interesting DH build to the table.
