BlizzCon 2015 Announced - Nov 6th and 7th, Golden Hearthstone Card Back
Eric Dodds on Blackrock Mountain
The guys at MetaBomb had a chance to discuss Blackrock Mountain with Hearthstone's Lead Designer, Eric Dodds. Check out our recap of the interview below, or if you'd like to read it in full, head on over to their article.
Quote from Eric Dodds
- Initially when deciding on Blackrock Mountain, the team threw up a bunch of ideas on a whiteboard.
- Blackrock Mountain is very different thematically when compared to Naxxramas and Goblins vs Gnomes.
- It fit in really well with the 10th World of Warcraft anniversary being themed around Molten Core (which is in BRM!).
- Dr. Boom is not on the nerf list.
- They only want to nerf cards when it's "really negatively impacting the game".
- The team has discussed Karazhan as an adventure, and he'd "be surprised if they didn't do it at all".
- Not all cards in new sets are going to be designed to fix issues in the current meta, but some will be related.
- Cards have two stages of creation:
- Design: Make a cool concept for a card, and make it awesome.
- Development: Balance the numbers. Playtest. Balance the numbers.
- No plans to redesign the Hunter Hero Power, nor are they talking about it.
- They are not working on a console version of Hearthstone, but they won't rule it out for the future.
- The phone version of Hearthstone has an updated tutorial to make sure new players understand the game.
- No current plans to change anything about how new players can get brought up to speed with their collections, but it's something they're talking about.
Dr.Boom needs nerf to 6/7 !
That will make him even stronger , getting him out of the range of BGH , lol
its sarcastic trolling man ... everyone knows that 6/7 > 7/7 in this game ;)
You are right he would be even stronger with 6 attack.
Imo he needs to cost 8 because there are so many great cards competing for that slot. He wouldn't be an auto include if he cost 8.
That's so sad after i got like 5 Dr. Boom till now and kept them to DE them when the nerf will come to get a lot of dust , seems now i'll get only 400 per each :(
He will probably get nerfed after BRM, they said the same about Undertaker but after GvG, they nerfed it.
It might be true , but we will see after the full BRM release ..
Why not just make Dr. Boom a 7 mana 8/4 "Battlecry: If you are holding a dragon, summon two Boom Bots" similar to our buddy Rend Blackhand Kappa
He's perfectly fine, the only 7 drop worth playing. If he gets bumped up to 8 mana he will still be in every deck. Loatheb is in almost every deck as well and no one complains about him. Sylvanas is also everywhere even after being nerfed... There's really no point here.
Ok this might sound like a conspirational theory but I believe that Blizzard is not nerfing / buffing cards because it actually costs them money and balance of the game is less important than that. Why it costs them money? Because disenchanting for full price = getting card of the same value instead of the one that was nerfed. This also means less reasons to buy packs since you are able to get cards you need / want this way
I guess they'd wait a bit the meta to stabilize after BRM before thinking of adjustments. And Dr Boom is one of the only cool cards at 7ccm, so...
How? On turn one coin + double innervate brings you to 6 mana crystals, so how did he manage to get the 7th?
Watcherzero was also a Druid and innervated out a Grove Tender!
Shh, this is what I want to believe.
Unless I'm missing something - how is that ever possible? Even with coin + double innervate you're only on 6 mana.
So you are telling me that you will nerf Boom Bot instead of Dr. Boom itself ...right?
Its okay guys Dr Boom is not on the nerf list.
Just like Undertaker, Leeroy, Auctioneer, Pyroblast, Sylvanas, Nat Pagle, Tinkmaster, Buzzard etc... were not on the "nerf list" at first.
Thats what I am thinking as well. Bot a single one of them was on the nerf list. How many times them said that Undertaker won't ge nerfed?
Exactly my thoughts! Anyway, I will not disenchant my second Dr. Boom for a while...
:) I commiserate with you, I have to be extremely cautious every time I disenchant my spare cards beacuse of the same reason (it is hard to avoid pushing automatically the auto-disenchant button)!
I am glad to here that they are making a stand with DR. Boom, but am a little saddened that balancing the card pool, is not the top priority. I am sure everything will eventually balance itself out, but let's hope it's not too long.
I have put in multitude's of hours into an Add-On Collection, complete with Alternate Hero's, that I believe, after many drafts, would most definitely help balance the current HS card pool rather quickly. And also provide numerous new deck options and strategies, without really adding any new mechanics, just fresh new ways to interact with the current ones.
