A Note on Class Cards
Zeriyah has reached out to us to clarify that there is indeed two different class cards for each class, although this information is not readily available online at the moment. One of these class cards will be sourced from the class challenges. This is an update to our previous statement which said there were only going to be nine class cards in Blackrock Mountain which has now been proven false.
This also changes our previous statements on class card rarity, so they have been retracted. We may indeed see a common and a rare class card for each class, although we won't know for certain until we see all the cards.
Our apologies for the misinformation! Our BRM Guide has been updated with this new information.
Update: Ben has now confirmed publicly that each class has 1 Common and 1 Rare.
New Card Clarifications
Quote from BlizzardLava Shock
It resets your overload on the current turn, and your next turn. (Ben Brode)
It only clears mana that is currently locked or will be locked next turn. Playing Lava Shock and then playing a card with Overload will result in you still having Overload on your next turn. (Ben Brode)
So turn 10, overloaded 3, you play Doomhammer + Lava Shock. Lava Shock lets you use the 3, plus full mana next turn?
Yes. (Ben Brode)
More Blackrock Mountain Cards

cool!
Great to see almost no RNG on the new cards.
i think Lava Shock will be used a lot, if you play 2 overload cards the turn before, or maybe like a neptulon, you gain a shitton of mana, like lets say you play a feral spirit and a lightning bolt, and youre overloaded for 3, then you play lava shock, 2 mana, deal 2 damage, gain 3 mana, that is like, a really good soulfire before nerf
If you think about Naxx as an example, a lot of the neutral cards are still never played, such as Stoneskin Gargoyle and Nerub'ar Weblord. However, all of the class cards from Naxx had a great influence, even Avenge is considered one of the best secrets for Paladin at the present, even if it isn't played in every paladin deck. If we get two class cards this time around, it could be possible that we have a giant change in the meta.
I agree, but I'm glad they're trying a different tack this time around. Plus, there are...what...5 cards from naxx that were even remotely useful? (Zombie Chow, Loatheb, Nerubian Egg, Dark Cultist, Spectral Spiders, Webspinner, Death's Bite). Am i missing any others - that seems like a good spread between class and neutral...and some of the already revealed neutrals are crazy. So who knows. Even just one Loatheb style card and the meta will change.
Great cards! Lava Shock will help out shamans and probably bring them back on ladder, and Axe Flinger will hopefully make it possible for not only control warrior to exist on ladder. Looks like we will have a more versatile meta after the release. Big up for that! :)
Commanding Shout
Bouncing Blades
Axe Flinger
Empty Board
80 damage turn?
So long as they have nothing on the board I assume!
Sadly, bouncing blades stops once it hit's a shout'd 1 health minion.
is that true? i thought it stopped once all the shouted minions were at 1hp. may be wrong, can't say i've ever see or done the combo.
So if there's 18 class cards, we gonna have 13 neutral cards and we already know 4 of them, 9 left, 4 of them is legendaries for clearing wings of black rock (nefarian and 3 other guys) and 5 common/rare/epic. actually i like additional class cards, hopefullly it'll make it possible to play fury warrior, heavy overload shaman and other interesting decks in high/legendary ladder :)
I think they're trying to make the Combo Warrior better. It's a funny deck to play against. Not so much when it kills you :o
I believe the same that Lava Shoc is overhyped right now. It is a good card, but not in the the Shaman deck right now. There is simply not that much overload within a turn. If you have massive overloads in your deck then the value of this card is going to increase.
But none of the three revealed class cards are good right now, that's the point. We don't really have typical Control Rogue decks, or Overload Shamans, or Aggro Warriors, they just don't feature in the meta. The point of these revealed cards is clearly to support new dark archetypes.
The rogue card is IMO not that good because rogues has his great means to clear a board anyway. The overload shaman could appear but the Aggressive Warrior only needs some more cards to be possible really viable. The Warrior card is going in the right direction. I mean really, it can easily be imagined that the card does 4-6 dmg. To play him when your Death´s Bite is going to trigger and buff him with Taskmaster and run into a minion = 6 face dmg. Thats only an easy setting. Can imagine other more complicated scenarios where he can be out of control.
Even in the case where you play him on an empty field and use bouning blades, would be 10 face dmg. Thats HUGE!
I don't get your logic.
Why would you think that new cards are designed to support the current meta?
They're designed to change it.
I'm pretty sure people was overvaluing Lava Shock far too much.
It burns the overload, but it costs 2 to do it.
It's incredibly restricted and situational. The card's only saving grace is that it does 2 damage, so it has a second function as well.
I'm valuing it for what it's worth. I first compared it to Crackle as they're at the same mana cost, and it made it look really bad. That's mostly because in the popular decks right now, there's not enough overload to make Lava shock look good. Most of the time it's like a free deal 2-3 damage (spelldamage totems aren't uncommon). At it's best it can be 0 mana deal 2-3 damage gain 1-2 mana this turn or the next which is really really good for shaman. It makes their cheap power play's drawbacks, null. I'd say people are valuing it perfectly.
Perhaps my once favored class will be my favorite yet again. I've been hoping for a card just like this! Awesome work Blizz
Gimme Lava Shock!!
