Reverted Nerfs Announced - Druid, Hunter & Mage
A selection of Nerfed cards will see their nerfs reverted later this month and before Forged in the Barrens goes live. Blizzard announced the cards for Druid, Hunter and Mage, as well as technically Demon Hunter, which sees no cards being reverted.
The Changes:
- Keeper of the Grove from 2/2 stat line back to a 2/4 stat line.
- Ancient of Lore Same stats, now has choice to draw 2 cards, instead of 1 again.
- Starving Buzzard Now a 2 mana 2/1 with same card text again.
- Flare Now costs 1 Mana.
- Dinotamer Brann Now costs 7 Mana again.
- Hunter's Mark Now costs 1 Mana.
- Mana Wyrm Now a 1 Mana 1/2 stat line.
- Conjurer's Calling Now costs 3 Mana again.
- Dragoncaster Now costs 6 Mana again.
Accompanying this will be a change to Wyrm Weaver to a 4 Mana 3/5 statline with the Spellburst effect "Summon two 1/2 Mana Wyrms".
Quote from Alec DawsonWhen the 20.0 patch goes live later this month, there'll be a number of nerf reverts. This is before content unlock/rotation, so for a short period of time there will be a very interesting Standard meta. When considering reverts for 2021, we also considered future rotations. 1/4
Quote from Alec DawsonCould a card come back into Standard? We chose to softly revert those, as we'd like to avoid cards shifting between two costs or statlines each year. This will be the case for cards like Mana Wyrm or Flametongue Totem. They'll be back one day! 2/4
Quote from Alec DawsonAnother factor was looking at the level of positivity a revert brings to the Wild environment. Adding power to already strong archetypes wasn't high on our list so you won't see cards like Level Up being reverted this year. Want these reverts to enable you to play old decks. 3/4
Quote from Alec DawsonHere's a batch for today. DH gets none, so we'll do Druid, Hunter, and Mage. Full revert unless noted.
Druid:
Keeper of the Grove
Ancient of Lore (*editor's note, originally tweeted Ancient of War, but corrected to Lore later.)
Hunter:
Starving Buzzard
Flare
Dinotamer Brann
Hunter's Mark (costs 1)
Mage:
Mana Wyrm (1 mana, 1/2)
Conjurer's Calling
Dragoncaster
Quote from Alec DawsonAs part of this Wyrm Weaver moves down to a 4 mana, 3/5 and summons two 1/2 Mana Wyrms.
Flare and Dinotamer Brann are mainstays. The former because of the prevalence of Secret Mage. The latter because it's good value. Of course these changes are a blow to Even Hunter.
Man, Wyrm Weaver seem a bit too strong at that mana cost. It was already playable at 5 mana, at 4 mana for those stats it´s going to be broken.
cool changes but Ilucia and priest/rogue/mage random BS still in the game.
Illucia best card in the game dude.
in a game like HS where you have zero interaction, yeah, really good design-.... maybe they'll nerf Illucia if some 'pro' complain about it after loosing a tournament or something like that.
Illucia is just good vs combo decks or when you play an aggro deck (aggro priest lol). Combo is weak currently and aggro priest was never a thing. So the card is currently useless. And btw: Illucia is the opposite of "random". Its controlled what you get (the hand) and not "random cards from your opponent" or so.
are we playing the same game? ... sure Illucia is insane against combo decks BUT as a disruptive tool it's just insane for its cost, there's no way to play around it, the powerlevel of the card is absurd, i played competitive Yu-Gi-Oh! for years and cards that interact with the hand were always broken and there you can counter or at least interact in some way with them, here? there's no counterplay , they can play it in turn 4 or 5 and dump your deck's core pieces like Penflinger for Libroom Paladin or steal the whole Rogue's hand if they have Secret Passage, its worst when you can discount it with Insight so now we're playing a better version than the pre-nerfed one... isn't just good against combo, is good against every deck out there
I mean it's not an easy card to use... and you get to use cards from their hand after they use cards from yours (and you haven't spent 3 mana on a 1/3). Like maybe it's frustrating, but at 3 mana there's nothing especially broken about it I don't think.
If there is one thing I like about the new HS team is that they are trigger happy when it comes to making changes to cards (old and new)
That Starving Buzzard revert is gonna be huge. That and the unleash the hounds combo is gonna be a staple again in whatever hunter deck people end up playing in wild. The hunter's mark change is also super nice too.
this starving buzzard is the card i would've liked to see in the core set (maybe they could've putted it, giving the fact unleash the hounds has been axed).
it will be nice to try my quest hunters with this for some days. it will be playable in wild after expansion release, right?
Time for some 2014 Unleash + Buzzard shenanigans, never thought I'd like to see that make a comeback
???
You don't know the meaning of the word "whoosh," do you?

If you can't be bothered - Hunter's best deck in the older format has an overall win-rate of 43%. Priest has a pair of decks that are liable to be nerfed - Biggie Boys and Raza.
If you still don't get it, re-read the post, then look up "whoosh" on urban dictionary.
GLHF.
That's a whole lotta passive aggressive you got there
dont waste time on those kind of comments. Hunter has disappeared quite long, everyone could see it. "Hunter is playable on ladder since years now" LMAO
yep
SMOrc hunter buffs. now unnerf leper gnome.
.
Are we getting full dust disenchant value for any of these? Because of mana shift from odd to even and vice versa.
Those are buffs, not nerfs, so no dust refund... duuuude.
