Card Rotation to Wild
With the introduction of Year of the Gryphon there will also be another rotation of the older expansions. Rise of Shadows, Saviors of Uldum, Descent of Dragons, and Galakrond's Awakening mini set will all be making the journey from Standard to Wild. The Demon Hunter Initiate set will also rotate to Wild, after just one year, due to the introduction of the Core Set.
We’ve highlighted some more notable cards that will no longer be available in Standard.
Rise of Shadows
The Rise of Shadows Set saw the introduction of Lackeys to the game as well as Twinspells. It was also the start of the Year Long story that was Year of the Dragon. You can see the full rotating set here.
The Saviors of Uldum
The Saviors of Uldum set saw the re-introduction of the Quest card and the Highlander archetype as well as the introduction of the Reborn keyword. You can see the full rotating set here.
Descent of Dragons & Galakrond's Awakening
After 15 months in Standard the powerful Descent of Dragons set rotates to Wild, and with it will rotate a large portion of the Dragons in Standard, including the Galakrond Hero cards and the related Invoke keyword. You can see the full rotating set here.
Galakrond's Awakening
With Descent of Dragons also came the Galakrond's Awakening adventure and mini set which will rotate too. You can see the full rotating set here.
Demon Hunter Initiate
With Ashes of Outland this past year we got the Demon Hunter Hero and the Demon Hunter Initiate set. With the Core set being introduced this set is now rotating early. You can see the full rotating set here.
Reading comprehension much? All my statement alludes to is that Wild players never have to worry about losing cards to rotation.
You should try decaf.
Bombs have been defused
Goodbye fellow humans
Back in the tower you go Vargoth
Alot less RNG from Mage
Gonna miss Risky Skipper
R.I.P Control Shaman :(
Good Riddance Fellow Human
Same here, they’re annoying but increasingly rare
Man i will miss the lackeys. My favorite mechanic in this game for a long looong time.
Honestly I agree! Lackeys might be annoying a lot of the time, but they added a lot of spice to games, and ones like Kobold Lackey stick out to me as classics!
i mean people will hate rng mechanics all the time because i dont know...(honestly there are worse cards generators that you dont even need to hope to get when you actually need luck sometimes to get the right lackey) but Lackeys seems like a very healthy mechanic. Little effects for little cost with the potential to twist the game on your favor. The fact that you need to run certain cards (that are not really great) to get them make it even more balance.
and always play vs the same 3 decks? lmao wild is bad but to each their own i guess
The guy said that you don’t lose anything in wild !! And not to play always the same decks ...
You can still play whatever you want
Hope there is a new round of "Reno"s and Zephyrs (no duplicate cards). I always love doing those decks.
The beauty of playing Wild is you never lose anything.
Ah yes, the beauty. The beauty of having secret mage be a full 30% of all decks in Wild, and Weapon Rogue be another 10%. So amazing.
Haven’t seen a single secret mage in the climb to diamond 3 lol
Meanwhile I can watch any random wild streamer and see secret mage basically guaranteed in 4 matches.
I mean good for you but I did like 9 games of Wild last month because I wanted to see and 4 of them were Secret Mage
Also Diamond 3 climb is what, 15 ish games? Sounds like you just got lucky.
https://hsreplay.net/decks/#gameType=RANKED_WILD
Out of the top 18 decks, Secret Mage has 23,000 recorded games, and everything else has 23,000 recorded games.
in what world is climb from bronze 10 to diamond 3 15 games? Only way it’s 15 is if you win 15 in a row with 11 star bonus. Also, secret mage is just popular, not better. It’s versatile with no really bad match ups and easy to play. Win rate is not that good compared to other decks though.
Sorry, was thinking plat 3. For Diamond 3, you're just BSing then, to get that high and not see one single Secret mage would be something like a .001% chance.
And that's literally my point, seeing the same shitty deck over and over again is boring and not "beautiful". Wild is an extremely limited format with only a handful of decks used
So, obviously some pretty impactful cards leaving standard, without a doubt. I just scanned through the full lists to remind myself what else is part of each set, and it feels like most cards saw play in some sort of deck over the last year (some really bad ones outstanding). But I can't help but notice two cards that I feel like never saw any play, anywhere, but seem pretty good.
What happened with Wild Bloodstinger and Omega Devastator?
A disruption card with "rush" and a late game minion removal with a body. How did these cards not see play in any popular decks?
God, I forgot about Omega Devastator completely. It was in the RoS meta, but then never seen again.
I think the whole thing came down to Dr. Boom rotating, and warrior being more focused on his deck being full of high cost minions, pirates, or rush.
Ye, Omega cards rotated out already. but Devastator saw loads of play! <3 Ziliax
