This Week's Nerfs Postponed Till Patch 20.0 Later This Month
Hearthstone's senior game designer just tweeted out that their plans regarding balance changes this week have been postponed till patch 20.0.
Standard
Quote from Alec DawsonStrongly hinted at it, so want to get this out there. We had originally planned on doing a small balance patch this week, but we ran into some issues affecting our timeline. 20.0 is our largest patch to date (Barrens, Core, Classic), and want to make sure it's a smooth launch.
That balance change will go into the 20.0 patch later this month. Overall, we're fairly happy with the current meta but saw an opportunity to shore up some gameplay feelings related to burst damage. Looking forward to MT Ironforge, best of luck to everyone participating!
Wild Mode
Quote from Alec DawsonQuestion: Have you been discussing any Wild nerfs? (Raza and Secret Mage in particular) Or are these only standard-centered?
Answer: The reverts are pretty big so we'll evaluate after all of those go in.
Question: Should we expect the reverts to come out at the same time as Barrens/Core/Classic? Will we get any information on what’s getting reverted beforehand?
Answer: Those will go live with the 20.0 patch yes. Most cards will be reverted or partially reverted, it's fairly aggressive. Should be a good time to bring out your old decks.

I play secret mage cause mage was the class that was introduced in the tutorial and with all the expansions forced me to play one class. So i used all my gold to buy and craft cards for mage. The cheapest deck with only one legendary or 2 depending on the deck version is the easiest to make and craft.
It's not my choice , but the way team 5 developed this game, gold gaining and dust gaining forced me into it. If they nerf it it would make me to quit It,if they offer no alternative.
No. decks. should. be. nerfed. in. wild. Its the whole point of the mode, anything can be played, any broken deck or combo. For more or less balanced gameplay standard exists.
yeah, a dude go second just dropped 2 crystal runner at turn 3. How can you answer to that? Even at almost same level as thekal+ 2 molten at turn 3, but in this case it comes with 3 mage secrets and a 2/1
How about charge patches, 2 mana war axe, turn 4 druid with UI, turn 7 lethal with aviana+kun, tiller+hysteria combo in turn 6/7, and turn 6 mage open the waygate? Nerf is necessary. It's way too powerful tbf. After the tiller nerf, there are only 2 decks, secret mage and decks that counter secret mage (or heavy tech against it).
[ignore this, i replied to the wrong user]
Just play cheap as dirt Uncommon or cheaper aggro - this evergreen vid from Kripp on the "Aggro Difference"
What about Kayn Sunfury? And they're also adding Kor'vas Bloodthorn lol
legendaries cannot be judged on the same level as non-legendaries. Charge, going forward, being a legendary mechanic is fine.
DH is their child that gets all the love, so he gets to play with the best toys like Charge or Silence.
THEY REALLY RUINED BEN BRODE'S AND HIS COMPETENT TEAM GAME
Mr Ben brode and his team did norhing whit the game we has some many sessons that whas only one deck they refused to change cards and ad new game mods to the game the new team is 100 times better hearthstone is so mutch better game now then on ben brodes time. Sorry for bad english
agree
I am going to give you a sobering fact that is going to be hard for you to swallow: Ben Brode's departure from the game was a freaking godsend. I was around when Giantslock happened, and it took EIGHT FUCKING MONTHS for them to finally come around to nerf the goddamn Naga Sea Witch. That happened under Ben Brode's tenure, and it was nerfed right before he left Blizzard. Other players who have been around for a long time can attest to my statement that nerfs to certain cards took a similarly long time for the team to get around to.
To give you an idea, the Hysteria rework came around after only a week. Do you have ANY idea how Ben Brode may have addressed it? We still might have had that goddamn Tiller/Hysteria combo around.
Under brode, there were many painful cards that took *months* to be addressed.
For example, 5 mana unleash the hounds and buzzard combo.
It took us years to get more than 9 deck slots.
Although brode was cool and the original version of the game was good, we have only seem significant improvements to the game since *after* he left.
Absolutely agree with KosovaLove. In the past 1,5 years we got 2 new game modes + 1 more announced, we got 3 expansions per year, more mini-expansions, we got achievements, we got season pass that generally gives people more gold then earlier. We also finally getting old classic set replaced.
In 6 years before that, what did we get? Nerfs coming once a year? Broken decks? I am surprised Hearthstone survived at all. Team 5 are doing awesome job right now!
Ben Brode’s times were great because every expansion completely changed the game. This is not happening now, but I wouldn’t honor/blame Ben for it. It is just the large collection and strong class stereotypes that make the fun of pioneering disappear.
B-A-R-N-E-S.
Not sure how much I put on Brode, but yes things, especially in Wild, moved at a snails pace.
You seem to forget that the HS team is over twice as big as it was back then. They simply didn't had the capacity for so many completely new things (on top of the expansions) back then. (And as a reminder, the beloved Dungeon Run mode came in the Brode Era)
RESUMING: LEARN
HOW
TO
PLAY
Were people actually expecting a balance patch this week from a tweet or something? If not, why even mention this in the first place?? They didnt even bother to tell people what they are planning to nerf! This kind of post doesnt help anyone, it only confuses people, makes the company look incompetent! I swear to god, Blizzard has the WORST PR policies in the whole gaming market, so bad..
