This Week's Nerfs Postponed Till Patch 20.0 Later This Month
Hearthstone's senior game designer just tweeted out that their plans regarding balance changes this week have been postponed till patch 20.0.
Standard
Quote from Alec DawsonStrongly hinted at it, so want to get this out there. We had originally planned on doing a small balance patch this week, but we ran into some issues affecting our timeline. 20.0 is our largest patch to date (Barrens, Core, Classic), and want to make sure it's a smooth launch.
That balance change will go into the 20.0 patch later this month. Overall, we're fairly happy with the current meta but saw an opportunity to shore up some gameplay feelings related to burst damage. Looking forward to MT Ironforge, best of luck to everyone participating!
Wild Mode
Quote from Alec DawsonQuestion: Have you been discussing any Wild nerfs? (Raza and Secret Mage in particular) Or are these only standard-centered?
Answer: The reverts are pretty big so we'll evaluate after all of those go in.
Question: Should we expect the reverts to come out at the same time as Barrens/Core/Classic? Will we get any information on what’s getting reverted beforehand?
Answer: Those will go live with the 20.0 patch yes. Most cards will be reverted or partially reverted, it's fairly aggressive. Should be a good time to bring out your old decks.

Nerf Tickatus so control is fun again or give viable counters, please...
I hope they will do changes to secret mage, also some mana cheating in game and demon Warlock (with Voidcallers and Gul'dan, Tickatus).
I have played Wild mode exclusively since it started. In my opinion gamebreaking decks that require no high skill cap should be hard nerfed.
For example giants warlock, snip snap warlock and the latest hysteria deck. I don't agree that Patron Warrior should've been nerfed, this deck is very high skill cap. I know this deck is ancient, still think it is revelant for this discussion.
I don't see Raza priest as a big problem. You have many cards to hard counter Raza priest so they lose instantly. Secret mage I have mixed opinion on. If I notice 9/10 mages I meet on ladder is secret mage. I will play odd warrior or druid that burns them out. I just pray that I won't meet resurrect priest.
I welcome small tweaks, but not removal of mechanics that strips the identity of certain cards. Like for example yogg-sarons battlecry ending if he dies. Or Raza not giving 0 mana hero power.
noob question: should I craft cards that are about to get nerfed in golden? will I get gold back? I ask because I remember that this was the case with the hall of fame cards last year
There is no reufund for this years Classic revamp since the whole coreset will be free as long as the core set is in standard.
You get 10 extra dust for golden commons that get nerfed, any other rarity gives the same amount of dust but you can only have a maximum of 2 golden copies of a card (I think you can have more if you unpack them afterwards).
From the looks of things, the cards that are going to reverted are those that were being played a lot with their class. Think Emerald Spellstone, Keeper of the Grove, Ancient of Lore, Bonemare. This could also mean that Raza is going to be reverted back to having the Hero Power cost 1 again. I would say that cards being targeted during this process are cards that have essentially been powercrept out by stronger answers in Wild.
I sincerely doubt that Barnes and Patches will be reverted, at least completely. Patches and Barnes were the precious pets of Ben Brode's design team, and both are, to my knowledge, almost universally hated. I could see Patches being given Rush to give more of a reason to play him, but I sincerely doubt Barnes will be reverted to 4 mana.
Please tell me you are not reverting Barnes. Christ, no.
Change ur name to "BLIZZARD KNIGHT"
Because they said some absolutely true things that are real and happened?
Damn it! How dare they!
Oh please, stop trying to kiss Ben Brode's ass. Or would you rather prefer bullshit like the Hysteria/Tiller combo not being fixed for three months?
Okay little dude, but think about it little dude...why would them rotate cards that was created in his age? Of course is cause they have no fucking idea what to do with the game anymore. Also, they want to erase Ben brode's work from existence cause they know many players miss the old competent devs, not these guys going along with chinese criminal practices.
Edit: Also, the cards going out from the original game shows how much they know that the game was not ever from them since beginning. Everybody knows game only gone down since Brode's departure, and also many cards from his age are really good. These new devs are so incompetent they can't work with something created by a real developer, someone that really liked to play cardgames and came from an era of different insights about what it's a real game.
Toxic age, Covd19 and so more shows how much this world is really going down.
Cyber regulation urgent, no more criminal practices.
Goddamn, you are so blind. Ben Brode was a good promoter, but that was it. Ben Brode's tenure included many problem cards that choked the game for months at a time, and there were times that it would take almost a whole fucking year for cards the community was complaining about to be nerfed. I recommend you take a deep dive into Giantslock and Naga Sea Witch and be clued in as to how little he actually cared about a balanced game.
I feel like I just had a stroke reading this.
No offense; I know we all criticize the economy of this game once in a while, but especially since the addition of triplicate protection, you have to be seriously mismanaging your money to be in this situation. The Rewards Track will offer you around 8000-8500 gold per expansion, plus 10 packs, plus two random legendaries. On average, a pack will value around 100 dust, so this is around 12500 dust per season. You can craft several budget decks with that amount.
When I first started playing the game, I completely agree, the experience of waiting to craft my first decks was really troublesome and boring. But you should be absolutely fine after a while, especially if you stick with one class or two. You are 100% mismanaging your gold in some way, if you reply or message me I might be able to try to figure out what's going on and to give you some help.
why would you say that? why are you an enemy of fun? we want diversity even in wild. i want to not know what my opponent will play when i encounter a mage and not only boring secret mage. We're missing on so much fun because of a dozen opressive cards. I vote for constant smaller nerfs. fuck it. shake it up. we want diversity
I agree, used to watch a lot of Vintage Super League back when that was a thing for magic - the best seasons were the ones with a fresh restricted/ban list.
My opinion is somewhere between the two extremes. I want wild to be a slower moving format with less nerfs than Standard - something you can dip in and out of over time without having to delete all your decks and relearn the entire format every month or two.
That said, if the format gets to a point of being seriously unhealthy (and I know everyone would have a different opinion of where that line is, but from my perspective some examples from history would be the Sea Witch meta and the Sn1p Sn4p meta) then I think it is diligent for the devs to step in and curtail the offending cards/decks.
I keep saying that this game needs sideboard options so you can tech in against certain classes... this will cause more variety in deckbuilding and force people to play alternate decks for certain classes... if you tech in against secret mage for example and many people know it they will start introducing mage decks without secrets to counter all secrethate teched in...
80% of the opponents in wild are playing secret mage.. Annoying as hell, something needs to be done!
First of all minions with premium stats like Kirin Tor Mage and Kabal Lackey on top cheating 0 mana secrets is absurd. Simple solution would be to change the cost to 1 mana secret like Game Master instead of 0 mana. The discount of Kabal Crystal Runner is ridiculous..all other similar cards like Devout Pupil / Umbral Owl etc. have 1 mana discount
