Quote from BlizzardGather your gear and hold fast to your ambition, newcomer. This is the Barrens. The road before us winds through vast, sun-scorched lands, bringing danger and discovery beyond imagination’s grasp. Thorned dens of bristling quilboar, rampaging tribes of furious centaur, and treetop nests of soaring harpies separate the champions from the weak. The Barrens are the anvil upon which the Horde as we know it was founded: A literal crossroads where the tauren, trolls, and orcs came together for the first time. Heroes are made here. Perhaps you, too, shall be Forged in the Barrens.
Forged in the Barrens will launch worldwide this Spring with 135 new collectible cards! You can find the full schedule for card reveals and see which cards were announced today by visiting the card library here. Check back frequently—the list will be updated with new cards as they’re revealed!
New Keyword: Frenzy
The monsters, minions, magic, and machinery found within the boundaries of the Barrens can turn any upstart axe flinger into a champion of the Horde. Minions with the new Frenzy keyword will trigger a powerful effect the first time they survive damage!
Ranked Spells
Mastering magic is key to surviving the elements (and elementals). All 10 classes will have access to an all-new Ranked Spell that will grow in power as your reach 5 and 10 Mana Crystals, regardless of whether it’s in your hand or deck!
New Mechanic: Spell Schools
Magical Spell Schools are a permanent addition to Hearthstone, which will be applied retroactively to many previously released spells, adding synergies and a new layer of depth throughout your Collection! Spells in Standard and Wild can now have a tag from one of seven different schools:
- Arcane (2 Spells in Forged in the Barrens, added to 44 Spells from past sets)
- Fel (3 Spells in Forged in the Barrens, added to 22 Spells from past sets)
- Fire (2 Spells in Forged in the Barrens, added to 43 Spells from past sets)
- Frost (2 Spells in Forged in the Barrens, added to 24 Spells from past sets)
- Holy (5 Spells in Forged in the Barrens, added to 67 Spells from past sets)
- Nature (6 Spells in Forged in the Barrens, added to 112 Spells from past sets)
- Shadow (4 Spells in Forged in the Barrens, added to 109 Spells from past sets)
Meet the Mercenaries
There’s no shortage of swords-for-hire within the Alliance and Horde. Forged in the Barrens introduces 10 Legendary Mercenary minions, each representing a different class, whose stories will play out across the Year of the Gryphon in an all-new year-long narrative!

Hey everyone, do you think that when -Forged in the Barrens- hits the live servers then the Battle Pass ends? Because I have yet to reach level 50 for the new portraits since I kinda took a long break from Hearthstone :(
I am currently level 33.
yep this Battle Pass ends, and the new one with new rewards starts
oh. okay. do you think i have time to reach level 50 from now to then? probably not, huh? :(
I think i remind a post when the pass comes out that they say its only for 1 expansion but in not 100% sure about... so i think with new exp a new pass comes with it so hurry up bro hope u get there
alright, will do
You have just over a month, so I think you can make it! It will require some grinding though. If you really want to complete it, you can by the tavern pass, which will grant you an exp bonus. Then you will DEFINITELY be able to make it.
Alright, thank you @HoraceWalpol. Thanks for giving me some hope :)
I will get to grinding then :D
Also, I already bought the Tavern Pass so I am good to go there.
You can do it!, and then i want to see the level 50 portrait you choosed! :)
Thanks! Alright, sure thing! :)
MANKRIK CONFIRMED!
Isnt Frenzy more or less Enrage? I know Enrage was just buffs so Frenzy is a little more dynamic, but it seems the same.
I guess it only triggers once
yep, it triggers after first damage which the minion survives, but the question is if it triggers also on your opponents turn or just only on yours, we'll see later this weekend, I was thinking about Samuros effect with Inner Rage, will it be a 3 dmg board clear and you will be left with 3/5 rush mini able to attack afterwards or it will deal only 1 dmg to all minions and the 3/5 body with rush... who knows how the spaghetti code will trigger us this time :D
I am 169% positive its going to trigger on anyone's turn. If you look at the current cards with Frenzy, none of them require it to be your turn to do the effect such as "Frenzy: Discover a card". I could be wrong but that extra 69% gives me confidence.
I imagine they will piggie back the frenzy off of Spellburst's code triggers. So Inner Rage damages and gains attack at the same time, then Frenzy triggers dealing 3. That effect stack seems most logical.
yep, I was typing the comment, where there was only Samuros revealed and other cards with that keyword were not :)
It's very similar, but not quite the same. As you said, Enrage mostly just provided Attack buffs, which were also reverted, when the minion was healed back to full health, making it a "does X when damaged", as it was rephrased later.
Frenzy, on the other hand, will always only activate once, when the minion takes damage for the first time, and is more like Spellburst (also uses the same trigger icon). You can't reset the effect when you heal the minion, so it might seem a bit worse, but that really depends on the effects.
The videos dont have new animations for frenzy yet so you can understand its code logic. It's just retooled spellburst where the one-time trigger is damage survived v spell cast.
hype train choo choo..., finally Warcraft lore expansions, after the announcement, it seems, that summer exp will be counterpath to this hordish exp and it will be Alliance version, I predict last exp of this year will be the war between Horde and Alliance, also new game mode looks promising, something different and fresh, I hope that those new dragons Malygos, Deathwing and Ysera will be added to the game and you can still use the old ones and replacing them, watch RegisKillbin video he has this covered, cheers and let the hype train continue
This is probably the most World of Warcraft feeling trailer we have gotten yet. Super excited for this expansion.
For the Horde lads! I am hyped up. Wonder what the Alliance version of this will be.
