Quote from BlizzardGather your gear and hold fast to your ambition, newcomer. This is the Barrens. The road before us winds through vast, sun-scorched lands, bringing danger and discovery beyond imagination’s grasp. Thorned dens of bristling quilboar, rampaging tribes of furious centaur, and treetop nests of soaring harpies separate the champions from the weak. The Barrens are the anvil upon which the Horde as we know it was founded: A literal crossroads where the tauren, trolls, and orcs came together for the first time. Heroes are made here. Perhaps you, too, shall be Forged in the Barrens.
Forged in the Barrens will launch worldwide this Spring with 135 new collectible cards! You can find the full schedule for card reveals and see which cards were announced today by visiting the card library here. Check back frequently—the list will be updated with new cards as they’re revealed!
New Keyword: Frenzy
The monsters, minions, magic, and machinery found within the boundaries of the Barrens can turn any upstart axe flinger into a champion of the Horde. Minions with the new Frenzy keyword will trigger a powerful effect the first time they survive damage!
Ranked Spells
Mastering magic is key to surviving the elements (and elementals). All 10 classes will have access to an all-new Ranked Spell that will grow in power as your reach 5 and 10 Mana Crystals, regardless of whether it’s in your hand or deck!
New Mechanic: Spell Schools
Magical Spell Schools are a permanent addition to Hearthstone, which will be applied retroactively to many previously released spells, adding synergies and a new layer of depth throughout your Collection! Spells in Standard and Wild can now have a tag from one of seven different schools:
- Arcane (2 Spells in Forged in the Barrens, added to 44 Spells from past sets)
- Fel (3 Spells in Forged in the Barrens, added to 22 Spells from past sets)
- Fire (2 Spells in Forged in the Barrens, added to 43 Spells from past sets)
- Frost (2 Spells in Forged in the Barrens, added to 24 Spells from past sets)
- Holy (5 Spells in Forged in the Barrens, added to 67 Spells from past sets)
- Nature (6 Spells in Forged in the Barrens, added to 112 Spells from past sets)
- Shadow (4 Spells in Forged in the Barrens, added to 109 Spells from past sets)
Meet the Mercenaries
There’s no shortage of swords-for-hire within the Alliance and Horde. Forged in the Barrens introduces 10 Legendary Mercenary minions, each representing a different class, whose stories will play out across the Year of the Gryphon in an all-new year-long narrative!

What's the shit you do with sleeveless designers, sloppy work ..? Just paintin old cards worse, and watching buggygrounds.. selling cards for high prices and not being able to even create a beautiful animation.. yeah its classic blizzard.

Well I gotta say Im pretty shocked you guys said that.
The only thing I manage to get are like 50 quest points. Do you guys have a special way to grind you want to share with me perhaps?
What do you mean by 50 quest points?
And the best way to grind (apart from completing "play X class" quests by conceding in tavern brawl) is playing ranked constructed, in which you get about 8 XP per minute, if you win the match, and 6 XP when you lose. So you'd get about 420~430 XP per hour.
The second best way to grind XP is playing Battlegrounds. There you get the second best XP rate, if I'm not mistaken, and it's relatively easier to get a win, since you just need to finish top 4.
I meant achievement points.
I checked the rewards track now and dayum. It really doesnt seem as bad as I remember. Maybe I felt stuck to the old system.
Thanks for the tips thou.
Frenzy mechanic seems good for Warrior. Spell schools is very interesting and exciting, maybe making previously unplayable spells more playable.
Is it just me or does the frenzy keyword heavily favor the warrior class? Not that I mind :).
Edit: samuro makes me think Inner Rage and even Cruel Taskmaster might not make the core set.
Where are the new demon?
Why is he missing?
Cause this is a core set card not an expansion one
Idk if its just me, but there was an insane amount of fun grinding gold before the expansion came. The more you grind the more you get the good stuff(or at least it felt that way). And the opening of dozens of the card packs was the climax part.
But unfortunately since the quest system changed...Well, uhm, how the frick are we supposed to get the same amount of gold?
I dont know why people complain, I have 7000 gold and I bought BG perks. I didnt invest a single dollar this expansion cycle. I feel like amount of gold you get has increased!
For battleground players the change has been amazing. You used to get almost nothing, now I have most of my gold from battlegrounds.
I play 1-2 days a week, and currently sitting at 6k gold. With the old system I usually had around ~3k-4k by the next expansion release. Current system is way more generous to people with limited amount of play time.
This is getting old, honestly.
There's plenty of proof that with the current system players do get more gold, get it easier and earlier in the season.
You are lying. Unless you purchased an unreal amount of packs with real money, you either have no gold, or no collection.
If your response is "I bought 10,000 packs with gold I had saved up before this expansion's release" then repeat. At one point, you paid an unreal amount of money for packs, or you simply have no collection.
And why exactly would I lie? What do my collection has to do with a fact that I gathered 6800 gold during Darkmoon expansion, while playing for mini exp and half price on BG perks with gold. I just do daily and weekly quests and get legend every month. Also, I played few arenas in the beginning. That is a fact.
And regarding collection, I have 80% of all good standard decks, cause I always dust wild cards. You dont have to pay money. Gold and dust get me there every expansion for 3 years now.
Now plz apologize and pass on
You are lying... You either have no collection, or no gold. You cannot have a viable competitive collection of cards AND have saved 6,800 gold.
I am level 149 right now, and even when spending 100% of the gold earned on Darkmoon packs, I have MAYBE 1/3 of the legendaries and epics I would need, from this set alone, to make a viable deck with every class.
You already casually admitted you were being misleading, by saying you dust every wild card... something NOBODY should be expected to do... not to mention, wouldn't give you even 20% of the new cards, if you did this every expansion cycle.
Do you even understand yourself what you are saying? Why wouldt nobody dust wild cards? Lots and lots of people play standard only, like I do. Furthermore, lots of other guys in this tread confirmed they have saved as much as I did. Still, you refuse to listen.
Again: for every expansion I save around 7000 to buy 70 packs at the beginning. Then I craft few missing epics and legendaries by using dust to be good to go. I dont have all decks from beginning, but slowly after 2-3 months I do have almost all good cards. I start saving gold again already after 2-3 weeks of expansion.
Maybe you should try that instead of accusing people.
Since the beta I keep asking about Hamuul Runetotem. At the beginning as a card and after the alternate heroes came I hoped for him to be one of them.
Now he finally appears, but I have to spend 80 €.
You actually can buy him and the cardback separately. I really dont know why people are not talking about this anywhere because its the first time they did this with a preorder skin. Maybe because nobody expected and they never said anything on the blog post.
*edit: I searched a little on reddit and found out that apparently this is only available in some countries, so nobody is talking about it because they dont even know its an option.
