Chinese Card Back Design Competition Winners Announced - Winning Card Back Will Be Available In The Game

Blizzard made a card back design competition in a China-only region and today we found out who has won the competition.

This competition had 3 main phases

1. Submission: November 13, 2020 ~ January 12, 2021.

2. Selection: January 15, 2021 - January 31, 2021.

3. Publicity: The competition winners will be publicized on the website before February 10, 2021.

These are the prizes in order

1. Legend Award (1): 1 community hero "Holy Grail" + 30,000 yuan cash reward  (around 4600 USD/3800 EUR) + 1 Youji EXRAI Pro 24 pen display + works will be included in the "Hearthstone" game.

2. Epic Award (3 winners): 10,000 yuan cash prize (around 1500 USD/1250 EUR) + works have a chance to be included in the "Heartstone" game.

3. Excellence Award (10 winners): 2000 yuan cash prize (around 300 USD/250 EUR).

4. Participation Award (30 winners): 1 Hearthstone Legend pillow.

5. Lucky Prize (1 winner): "Hearthstone" pre-purchased card pack for the year 2021 (Super Collection) + 1 Y160F digital screen.

Evaluation of the development team: With a quick glance, you can recognize the conspicuous pattern of Prince Kael'thas and the classic red and gold color scheme. The emerald orb is also an ideal carrier for Hearthstone Vortex. The team seems to be able to see the vivid effects of adding green magic special effects to the game! Details such as the folds of the fabric and the golden carved edges are exquisitely crafted, forming an excellent secondary structure.

Evaluation of the development team: We believe that the melancholic background color gives a strong impact to the flame and lava elements on the back of this card. The smooth lines of the snake and the gray icy rocks add a sense of hierarchy to the overall card back. The clever selection of colors and color values ​​distinguishes the snake from the rock in the background and does not cover the main structure of the magma spiral. The author also used the effect of magma to clearly show the snake scale pattern. The art team praised this charming technique.

Evaluation of the development team: The image on the back of this card reminds people of the old past of classic recipes such as cooking mutant fish and appetizing spices, and can't help but smile. The full color is handled properly, and while creating an interesting scene, it also reveals some dark details. The team happily guessed the reason for the fish’s smile and speculated on the origin of the red pot in the center of the picture.
