This week's brawl is All-Star Squad!
Rules:
Spiders and Portals have had their chance, now you choose! Pick one card for your deck, and you will get 22 copies of it plus 8 random class cards!
Rewards:
A Classic Card Pack for winning the Brawl once.
If you have a great deck for this brawl, create it in our deckbuilder, and share it with the world! Just make sure to label the Deck Type as a "Tavern Brawl" while saving and it might show up on the front page!
Twin Slice DH does 30 damage cumulative on turn 5. So any other deck has to be faster than that.
What terrible design.
Run with Illidari Studies, you can get lifesteal, AOE, draw, or silence cards, pick the one you need to beat your opponent.
Frost Nova has won me every game. Every game but 1 was against pogos
Everyone is talking about pogo hopper, while the new c'thun breaks the game and skips the opponents turns constantly.
What??? That’s a lie. Just tried it and it just shuffled a bunch of times and they still got their turn.
Beat that C'thun by copying their deck with Archbishop Benedictus. Lucky I guess.
I got a legendary and an epic from reward.
I've been doing Priest with Palm Reading, and it's been pretty fun. I auto-concede against Pogos, because I don't have time to bother with those, but beyond that, you get a lot of versatility starting on turn 3/4, once all your discounts start cascading. By then you generally have an idea what the opponent's One Card is (as opposed to the 8 random inclusions), so you can tailor your Discovers toward counters, whether that be silences, heals or board-clears.
That's a pretty cool idea. Seems fun.
Too bad they didn't ban jade idol and pogos, otherwise, this could be a really inventive brawl...
Too bad that E.M.P. Operative has the statline and cost it has... if it was more like Hungry Crab there would be a counter
There are a couple of hard counters to pogo: Nerub'ar Weblord and Ice Block
THAT BEING SAID: The weblord only works against pogo and if you draw any other opponent, you will lose and lose miserably. However, it's almost worth conceding 10 matches just to get to a pogo player for the cheap satisfaction of seeing them play 2 turns, spend a loooooong time thinking on turn 3 and then rage quitting.
Otherwise, just go Ice Block. It's free, it works against your assorted DH attempts, the Mind Blast jockeys, and the Wand Thief wankers. It's pretty cowardly, but what the heck. A win is a win.
But then Twin Slice DH easily beats that. So better hope opponent queues paper to your scissors.
Agreed!
Because I have no dust to waste on a pogo hopper, my strategy was to run with the completely free Frost Nova, and rope every turn. My second opponent conceded by turn 4, I got my pack and done for the week.
Devolving missiles as mage is fun, just ruin your opponent
Jade Idol or Pogo Hopper. So uninspiring... Too many easy kills.
Twin Slice DH destroys Jade Idol.
I tried Illidari Studies (DH). I won the first two games against non-Pogos and finally faced Pogos in the third game. I was hoping that I would be able to select the Consume Magic/silence option enough to beat the Pogos, but no luck. Ban the bunnies, Blizzard!
Seriously blizzard would it have killed you to ban pogo, mind blast and sinister strike. Doing this would have made it a decent brawl.
Last time they had this brawl Mind Blast was banned.
I'm really really starting to question the competence of the remaining devs.
