Madness at the Darkmoon Faire Meta Decks - Darkmoon Races Edition

Madness at the Darkmoon Faire Meta Decks - Darkmoon Races Edition

We decided to dive into the meta to find the decks that have looked good after the introduction of Darkmoon Races. We found a whole bunch, and present them here! Remember though that it is still very early in this new release and that what looks good now, may be old news shortly when decks start to get figured out and planned against.

ROGUE

It was pretty clear from the introduction that Nitroboost Poison at 1 mana, easily corruptable and powerful, was going to make a splash at some point. We did not have to wait for it, because it has instantly been a community and top ranked player favorite.

DRUID

Another well received new card is Arbor Up, which has almost singlehandedly brought back Treant/Spell Druid. This version has Goru the Mightree in it, which in our experience is mostly very good in the mirror match. As always, these are still unrefined decks that will need more time to get to their final form.

PALADIN

With the new set came a new Libram: Libram of Judgment. It discounts just like any other Libram, which means that the already-good Pure Paladin got even more power to its punch. Not so much time to hit the books, as it is time to hit with books.

WARRIOR

Just like the last time Aggro Rogue and Spell Druid started being played a lot, we see the return to prominense of Enrage Warrior. This will be the last chance for Risky Skipper to shine, as it will rotate this spring. Enjoy it while you can!

WARLOCK

Since the nerfs and since the new set, Zoo Warlock has gained enough popularity to be mainstream again, as it thrives against other decks that are currently popular. This version experiments with the new card Backfire as a card draw & self harm option to play with Darkglare.

MAGE

If there is one class that stood out in Darkmoon Races, it's Mage. It received a LOT of love, with Conjure Mana Biscuit one of, if not THE strongest card in the set. Like in druid, this one card almost singlehandedly brought back a lost archetype: Mozaki OTK. We will have to see if the deck fairs better long term than it did last time, but early signs are that this deck might be really, really good.
