"There Are Big Changes Coming To Hearthstone In 2021" - Alec Dawson
Senior Game Designer Alec Dawson has shared some information about the upcoming Hearthstone year & more!
Also sorry this didn't get into the notes but: Yes Edwin will still rotate later this year and yes we will be reverting the nerf (along with others) at that time.

Want to take a second to clarify our plan for Edwin VanCleef. There are big changes coming to Hearthstone in 2021. We aren’t quite ready to share the full details, but they will be positive changes for both gameplay and the ease of getting into the game with a limited collection.

As one small part of this, Edwin’s time in Standard will come to a close. However, Hall of Fame as it has existed will be no more. This means there is no additional benefit to crafting or hoarding extra Edwins today.

In the coming months, we’ll be sharing some more details about what the changes are and why you should be hyped for them no matter what type of player you are.

We'll be looking at Wild more frequently throughout the year, setting some things up to help us do that better.

Any card release has the chance to shift Wild to some degree, the upcoming mini-set being no different. There's some good stuff!
We talked about Broomstick for quite a bit, want to see how these changes and upcoming new cards shift things first.

It’s one of the most important things for us and weighs heavily into any balance decisions we make. We’ve gotten a lot of feedback about Evolve, will approach it differently in the future. Less of a focus on cost reduction with cards like Mogu.

Stickyfinger certainly did its job but it does so in a swingy way (heightened by the weapon it was stealing as well). Tech cards shouldn’t be seen as a must but rather an option for you to include in certain matchups. The prevalence of Stickyfinger was too high for our liking.

They never gonna give a set for free ... im pretty sure of it.
Best case scenario is they gonna give away the classic set for free , for those who get the battle pass , and its not gonna be permanent , u not gonna own the cards.
The question in this case is ... what is gonna be the compensation for those who already own the classic set ? Is there gonna be one ?
Its pretty tricky to implement things like this ... cause they risking to put the whole comunity in their head.
What? Broomstick is on people's radar? since when and why?
for the cost broomstick is crazy hell it should be 2 or 3 mana
Wtf man, there's still ppl crying about Broomstick? They cry about every card in the game...and HS still does same shit, make u pay a deck, nerf core cards and leave u with a lot of trash that was before a deck.
Greetings , lot of you guys here complain about money spent and things like that , i do agree with idea that if i have the will and money to spend for buying packs i expect something better then from packs bought for in-game gold.
I also wanna get Golden pack for reaching legend or Dust to craft what i want and not to get non golden duplicates of cards i already have. getting dust for reaching legend is more than a choice for me to what i craft. and it can really motivate players to play for that legend.
Bots ingame with baku decks / Warrior + hunter , farming wild "time" to get XP into their reward track - Very well it is free win for me but i hate that matchups. they rope every turn and it is obvious they are bots . nobody cares about that.
back to the first point. If you spend 100 gold for pack and get a 5% chance to get legendary , very well you played for it so you probably open 1 legendary in 20 packs .
i bought 45 packs for gold and no legendary drop. do you think i will ever buy a pack ? i dont think so because my motivation reached its end.
when i buy packs for real money for which i have to go to work every day then i get 1 legendary from 60 packs. thats just my luck of collecting cards and still i have most of them and i miss just few cards from each set ( I dont have milhouse).
i know that giving such benefits to players who pay is quite unfair to the others . just do it and dont tell anyone that rates for real money for drop are slightly increased in comparison to ingame bought packs.
When i write to support about bots i have no answer - thank you a lot for reading my feedback .
and now i read here about such hate between players and other stuff. That hate and angry comes from communication problems and information´s we can get.
im not against the idea that whole classic set will rotate out , why not. just give us dust to craft the new classic set and we can give up on our thoughts to keep the cards we have now.
thats just my opinions and even if i get down voted here i think that there is always things which can make the game better and more balanced.
How much dust would we have got if the entire Classic set was HoFed? Perhaps that should be the benchmark for a rework 🤔 I'm not too worried. Whatever happens, I'm sure we'll get the same or more ;)
Are the mods trying to suggest something with that meteor on the thumbnail?
Edit: Pls, do not take this post seriously.
I think they are going to change the way the cards and sets rotate in standard.
Any speculation on what "other" nerfs may be reverted?
All the nerfs that happened years ago that make no sense now.
So I should have dusted Edwin now since they give full refund now?
Yes. You can craft him again for the same amount of dust.
In this thread: people speculating on Blizzard's nefarious motives to give us less dust or already deeming the changes to be a failure BEFORE KNOWING ANYTHING of what the changes will be (except that Edwin won't be in standard anymore). Apparently Team 5 has let us down so many times that they can't be trusted anymore.
A big part of the Hearthstone community has become so toxic, it seems like people are doing nothing but affirming each other's views on how bad Hearthstone has become. I honestly cannot see how Blizzard has "let us down" - on the contrary, it seems to me that Blizzard has delivered on almost all the wishes people have been expressing over the years.
People have been calling for more cosmetics, achievements, a greater sense of progression, more content, new play modes, a new class, more frequent nerfs, more rewards. We have gotten ALL of those things. The only things that are really missing is tournament mode and changes to the classic set. It seems we will be getting the latter this rotation.
IMO Hearthstone today is a much better and more generous game than when I started playing in 2016. Go ahead and call me a Blizzard shill or speculate that Blizzard is paying me for defending the game. It does nothing but prove how toxic the community has become.
nice troll
The "we won't take away any gold with the new reward track" statement certainly has been detrimental. Personally I think that 2019 was the best year for HS, which I've played since 2014. The rage in November does seem to have had a positive impact on team 5 thou. They seem a lot more informative and meta considerate now than before at least. I'm still a bit worried about the "we're gonna make the game nicer for everyone, but no HoF refunds". It does give a bit of deja vu, but what's the point in raging before you see what happens?
I agree. Hearthstone's playerbase is full of hate towards Blizzard and mainly Team 5. While I do agree that the developers are somewhat greedy and the prices for basically everything in HS are ridiculous. However, there is no game without any flaws. For example, in League of Legends there are a lot of things requiring balance changes. Moreover, the game uses a lot of tricks to persuade people to buy their in-game products, just like Hearthstone does (but Riot is much better in this than Blizzard is). Somehow though, the community there is not even close to the toxicity of Hearthstone's players'. I don't really understand why would someone be so engaged in something that is just a video game to go and publicly spread hate a few times a day, but that's just my opinion and I am probably going to get down voted anyways.
I think that all the time and money HS requires you to invest has made a lot of people slightly crazy ;) It's not like those good old days where you could just keep your little cd unpatched and play the version you liked by yourself.
No we didn't.
I always read this "comunity has become so toxic",as in rl i hear people say that this generation is worse than the one before.
IMHO that's all bullshit, shitty people always existed in their context and rational people always tend to be more silent and to be a lil less noticeable.
Let the donkey rant as it may be noisy but a donkey remains.
