"There Are Big Changes Coming To Hearthstone In 2021" - Alec Dawson
Senior Game Designer Alec Dawson has shared some information about the upcoming Hearthstone year & more!
Also sorry this didn't get into the notes but: Yes Edwin will still rotate later this year and yes we will be reverting the nerf (along with others) at that time.

Want to take a second to clarify our plan for Edwin VanCleef. There are big changes coming to Hearthstone in 2021. We aren’t quite ready to share the full details, but they will be positive changes for both gameplay and the ease of getting into the game with a limited collection.

As one small part of this, Edwin’s time in Standard will come to a close. However, Hall of Fame as it has existed will be no more. This means there is no additional benefit to crafting or hoarding extra Edwins today.

In the coming months, we’ll be sharing some more details about what the changes are and why you should be hyped for them no matter what type of player you are.

We'll be looking at Wild more frequently throughout the year, setting some things up to help us do that better.

Any card release has the chance to shift Wild to some degree, the upcoming mini-set being no different. There's some good stuff!
We talked about Broomstick for quite a bit, want to see how these changes and upcoming new cards shift things first.

It’s one of the most important things for us and weighs heavily into any balance decisions we make. We’ve gotten a lot of feedback about Evolve, will approach it differently in the future. Less of a focus on cost reduction with cards like Mogu.

Stickyfinger certainly did its job but it does so in a swingy way (heightened by the weapon it was stealing as well). Tech cards shouldn’t be seen as a must but rather an option for you to include in certain matchups. The prevalence of Stickyfinger was too high for our liking.

WTF? Does he understand how ladder works? Does he think we are using a sideboard???
Being greedy isn't a necessity to being a corporation. Making a profit is a necessity. Making a profit and greed are not the same.
well, there has to be a balance. I think we can both agree that a corporation's main goal is to make as much money as possible. so of course blizzard will try to be as greedy as possible while still maintaining happy players.
Happy?
Hope one of these big changes be to ban Odd pally and Raza priest from wild forever. Horrible design from the past, they need to fix or remove this from the game. it's just hero power silver hand or hero power zero face....both stupid decks. Tickatus warlock in wild is really stupid too.
To the ones downvoting guess many never reached legend before, maybe are getting now but it's not the same, requires no skills now.
So when you get in there u will see the shitshow there's ranked.
As long as we dont lose value on rotated classic cards & get the full dust im on board. Came back from 2017 break & can see how hard it is for new players to come back. Luckily i dusted old sets for 40k as i spent all the way up to witchwood. New players have no chance. Bigger playerbase will be good like before.
But i also remember how much money i spent on classic & they claimed it will forever stay & thats why i felt comfy doing so. So full dust refund is the only option.
On the plus side. Hearthstone is better now than it was in 2017. I think this new year coming will be finishing touches to get its glory
yeah, exactly, they never mentioned it will be Wild in game though they had it in internal schedule since begining and then "surprise mtfckers, your cards gonna wild hie hie hie"
The only thing that makes sense is that they revert all classic and basic sets nerfs and move all of that to wild, then they make a completely new basic set / classic set.
So all the classic cards brought, especially way back in the day when there was only nax etc. Wheres all that going? People bought classics and crafted classic legendarys knowing they wouldnt be touched now will be. Have to refund all cards at full cost
SO "No more Hall of Fame" meaning no dust? so i should dust edwin?
Yes. Even if they would keep HoF it would make no difference to dust Edwin now.
Not entirely, if they HoF Edwin you can get 1600+400 dust if you don't play Wild. If you do, then you get Edwin for free.
the ease of getting into the game with a limited collection
Interpretation: You can play with a deck that will help you climb ranks all the way to Silver 5 instead of Bronze...for no extra cost!
That sounds awfully generous...are you sure your talking about Blizzard?
Sense of progression is gone, because Reward track. From lvl 20 after you finish 3 daily quests, you dont recive level (=reward) and 10 golds per 3 wins are gone, literally you can now play 3 days without any progress - its joke, and 3 days are "best case".
"More content" you mean every 4 months one solo adventure, with 1-hour gameplay, which you play once? :D
"New play mode" ...KEKW ...3 years old Dungeon Run for two players, without reason to play and with much worse economy concept than standard or wild mode xD
"More frequent nerfs" - this is one big illusion. With compare year 2019, its almost same, when you dont count DH nerfs, because DH cards were overpowered. For safe all, I skip debate around "new class", because last thing, what can I say about Demon Hunter is, it was a positive change for the game :D
After whole one year, is there only one positive change - achivement system. In game is a little bit more cosmetics but not for F2P, even card backs for gold are not to F2P players, because you are reciving less golds from Reward track.
_______________
On the end for you: Dont blame people from toxicity in HS community. One thing is toxicity and second frustration with lost of faith.
You're still lvl 20 dude? How much do you play? 1 hour per month? And you expect to get everything?
Do you also want a free burger with that?
I'm playing Legends of Runeterra since beta release. In LoR with spended ~1 hour gametime per week you recive always 1 legendary, epic and bunch of common cards with dust. Even with minimum spended time and pauses, I have almost whole collection and still resources to craft another cards.
It good feeling support devs by purchase cheap cosmetics, because you have no problem with cards collection but you have bad feeling from not supporting great F2P game than play HS with Pay2Play model, where you to playing multiple decks and experimeting, you need mortgage...
...and this is just economy part, there is more positive aspects but I dont write it them here, because every negative opinion to HS here, is downvoted without any discussion. I'm not surprised downvotes, people hate truth or have not imagination...
And do you think they do that because they’re awesome and have an excelent and appealing game that doesn’t needs this kind of push for making it “fun”? Oh and by no chance it also has nothing to do that they want to compete with Hearthstone so badly.
Lol. Take it for granted. When they have the same amount of players, things will change. It’s obvious. That’s what you call “catch up with competitors”. It’s bussiness 101. When you’re new in the market, you put some good offers...
My wild and crazy prediction:
They are going to make the classic set free. Much like the basic set. I'm also guessing that getting the free classic set will involve completing some new (free) PVE content.
They've been nerfing the crap out of the classic set for a while now. It might be lousy enough to be given away free now.
And since classic packs will be a thing of the past we will now get rewarded with current year packs for Tavern Brawls and Arena runs and such,
