REWARDS TRACK UPDATE - Official Blizzard Statement
Blizzard just posted a lengthy update detailing their plans with the Reward track, what they communicated about badly and what is going to change. Read all about it below!
Quote from BlizzardWe have been listening to your feedback regarding the Rewards Track and it’s clear we missed the mark both in how we communicated and implemented the full functionality of this first version of our rewards system.
We apologize for the confusion and disappointment we have caused.
During the natural progression of the rewards cycle, our intention was, and still is, to give out extra XP over time through a variety of ways. The aim is to help players get through the Rewards Track, or catch-up if they join later in an expansion phase, ultimately ensuring players earn more rewards.
We also didn’t provide any details for how events will link into and support the rewards system. We will be providing bonus XP for various activities at each seasonal event every expansion cycle, and any additional bonus events as needed, again with the aim of ensuring that our players obtain more rewards. Our failure to communicate these factors has led to incomplete projections, for which we apologize.
In addition, you’ve provided us with a wealth of feedback, and we agree that the pack rewards at the end of the track don’t feel appropriate for the effort it takes to get them. We’re going to adjust these rewards in the later stages of the track, swapping six packs for a total of 1350 gold that players can spend as they see fit. If any players reach this milestone before we implement these changes, they will be retroactively compensated.
Our goal for the Rewards Track continues to be that all Hearthstone players earn more gold and total rewards per expansion. We’ll continue to evaluate the impact of these changes, listen to your feedback, and iterate as needed until we get it right.
We will stay true to our word and ensure that the system lives up to what we all believe Hearthstone deserves.
Thank you,
Ben Lee
Game Director
Lengthy post? What a joke.
This is blizzard saying: "we lied to you saying the new system will get you more stuff in easier ways? We lied. Now that you're mad, and realized gold gain is reducing a lot, we will immediately give you a bit more gold so you'll see we are listening to you but never change anything else."
The sad thing is that it doesn't matter what we say, as long as they have people buying stuff, we, the players who mostly rely on gold rewards and don't buy their bundles, don't matter.
Just like Solem said: They intentionally make a problem, knowing it will cause an outrage. Then they "fix" it, and expect us to kiss their boots.
But this is still isn't good enough. Let's say they change the year of the dragon pack with a reward of 300 gold. To reach level 48, you need 90k experience. Are you aware just how much playtime that is? You'd literally earn 300 gold for nolifing HS for 10 days. How is that better for any player?
It feels like salami tactics for me.
This still does not change the fact that they LIED to us. The ez fix would be to have the daily quests still give some gold to compensate for the long stretches of far apart levels, and maybe even bring back the 10 gold per 3 wins? I should not have to rely on an in game event to properly level my rewards track and feel like I’m being actively rewarded
Hmm so they forgot to tell us about a key part of the new system. That's odd...It's almost as if they've just made the whole thing up in the last minute...
Don’t be silly, assuming that would be... “Madness...”
Its improvement but still, removing 10g per 3 Wins was huuuuuge mistake, i want that restored back!
100% agree new system is massive improvement...but up myself and the horde side massive.
Still not good enough. If Blizzard wants forgiveness I need $10,000 in unmarked bills and a free tavern pass.
blud screw the tavern pass just the $10,000 blizz feel free to e-mail me for my bank details. i'll quit all blizz games if i don't get the money swer down.
They did literally nothing with that...
Maybe I can help them
We want:
On this episode of "Intentionally trying to get away with BS, then apologizing when somebody simply does the math and calls us out on it"
- Season 19 episode 46
it will not change anything, let them restore 10 gold for 3 wins on all modes
Wow what a half assed excuse
That is much better communication.
We happy boys?
nope, we unhappy still
Almost lol
It's something.
It doesn't adress my personal gripes with the system, but it;s something better at least than ignoring the situation and hoping that the release will blow everything over.
My suspicion remains that this is all still just a redirect on how damn expensive the game is. Outside of other factors, like how demoralizing losses feel compared to other games and how deeply flawed I feel that Shaman class is, I don't play anymore primarily because I simply can't justify the cost. Among the rants from various streamers about the new rewards track, many of them mentioned that you're paying over $100(US) for a pre-release and STILL only getting 1/4 to 1/3 of the cards basically required to play the new decks. And THEN you're paying more to get the bonus XP in the underwhelming rewards system that still doesn't bring it up to the level of the previous much-criticized system. That cash outflow is the problem, which has very little to do with how much gold you're earning. No game is worth spending several hundred dollars a year on and STILL not having a "complete" game. You can spend $180/year on WoW and have access to anything you want, as long as you have the time to spend. Technically, that's the same for HS... if you spend 3 or 4 times more AND you're still not guaranteed to get everything you want without spending even MORE money.
When you look at it in those terms, all this furor over the reward system is really misplaced.
I mean I doubted the possibility of them tucking it under the rug when literally people that pay hundreds and hundreds of money said “Just fuck off blizz not this time”. So with the addition of this sorry thing they call an apology its probably gonna go downhill from here unless they do something.
