Evocation & Solarian Prime Nerf!
Blizzard just announced 2 huge Mage nerfs, both changes will be live in a patch towards the end of next week.
Quote from BlizzardHey everyone,
We’ll be making the following balance changes in a patch to be released towards the end of next week:
Evocation
- Old: [Cost 1] → New: [Cost 2]
Astromancer Solarian
- Old: Solarian Prime [Cost 7] → New: Solarian Prime [Cost 9]
Both cards will be eligible for a full dust refund for 2 weeks after the patch has gone live.
Quote from AlecWhile looking at the current environment and future metas, Evocation helped enable a lot of early game swings that could feel insurmountable. We want to smooth that out. At 2 mana, it's not as fluid with Sorcerer's Apprentice and won't be generated from Wandmaker/Cobalt Spellkin.
For Solarian Prime, we stepped back and evaluated where it stacked up compared to the other Primes. With that and some of the power spikes it can generate, moving it to 9 mana felt appropriate.
On our side, we are continuing to discuss opportunities to bring up some of the weaker classes and/or touch up other play patterns in the near future. Thank again for your feedback, we read all of it (no matter how long that twitlonger is).
Cmon blizz, the problem right now is Sorc apprentice. There's too many cheap spells with huge effects or cards with too much synergy with cheap spells (ie: Summon a 5/5 for each 3 spells you casts, generate a spell for each one you cast, discover a cheap spell, etc)
Good nerfs, next is libroom.
Apprentice I tuinl won't get nerfed because wild is a thing, and there it's not As problematic, so I guess April Might bring a rotation and she goes.
Wow, solarian at 9 is a huge nerf. Everybody knows the problem with 9 mana cards.
I mean, it does worth 9 mana the effect. 7 mana was too low. And the problem with 9 mana cards is when you have to do mulligan with them, since keeping a 9 mana card is just so damn expensive. That was what happened with Dr Boom. At 7 mana it was insane in mulligan, at 9 mana... Not so much... But Solariam is generated, so you won't have that problem ever. The big thing here is that you'll no longer be able to Solariam + 2xRay of frost / Frost nova. A HECKING LOT of games were won by just that. Drop a War Golem, do some shenanigans and hope for a good result. If your solarian was garbage, at least you could freeze the bigger threats, and do something next turn, with a War Golem on the board.
I agree with the nerfs individually. HOWEVER, I don't know if I'd have done both at the same time. Evocation + Prime nerf is just too much... I'd just nerfed Evocation. And MAYBE leave Solarian at 8 mana. But I guess they know what they do... Lately, most of the times the nerfs are right.
No dust refund for Astromancer Solarian, because they're only nerfing the Prime
Kidding, but wouldn't be at all surprised.
Sourcere's Apprentice and Vancleef are both legends, always dodging the bullet xD
I don't think there is anything wrong with Vancleef tbh.. It's not even that strong of a card these days
Looks like it’s time to run Magic Trick more lol
Okay, visuals are up and running. :-D
Btw where's Apprentice?
How in the actual earth do they not see "sorcerer's apprentice" as a source of problems?
Holy moly, the nerf to 9 mana is no joke. Makes it much less of a comeback card, two turns later to save your match or seal the deal. But I guess a reasonable nerf.
And regarding Evocation, well, they really just don't want to nerf our little girl Sorceress Apprentice. :D
The cost change of Evocation is not a problem if you're playing the card itself, but makes it impossible to generate with Wand Thief and Cobalt Spellkin so kinda nice. The Prime nerf shouldn't change much I think.
They love Sorcerer's Apprentice so much they would nerf all the other mage cards for her to live
Yes, also like the evocation one since it can no longer be generated via that neutral 2/2 minion. Games with 4 evocations and more were kinda ridiculous.
Good changes. Let's hope it's enough.
Sorc apprentice + cheap spells is more the problem I think, but we will see if this curbs Mages a little.
Good changes, especially the prime one.
