Evocation & Solarian Prime Nerf!
Blizzard just announced 2 huge Mage nerfs, both changes will be live in a patch towards the end of next week.
Quote from BlizzardHey everyone,
We’ll be making the following balance changes in a patch to be released towards the end of next week:
Evocation
- Old: [Cost 1] → New: [Cost 2]
Astromancer Solarian
- Old: Solarian Prime [Cost 7] → New: Solarian Prime [Cost 9]
Both cards will be eligible for a full dust refund for 2 weeks after the patch has gone live.
Quote from AlecWhile looking at the current environment and future metas, Evocation helped enable a lot of early game swings that could feel insurmountable. We want to smooth that out. At 2 mana, it's not as fluid with Sorcerer's Apprentice and won't be generated from Wandmaker/Cobalt Spellkin.
For Solarian Prime, we stepped back and evaluated where it stacked up compared to the other Primes. With that and some of the power spikes it can generate, moving it to 9 mana felt appropriate.
On our side, we are continuing to discuss opportunities to bring up some of the weaker classes and/or touch up other play patterns in the near future. Thank again for your feedback, we read all of it (no matter how long that twitlonger is).
She's talking to Jaina when she says this.
Hi Guys,
My meta prediction on the impact of those nerfs:

Enjoy!
I feel sorry for the mages, they will only get a refund for Evocation because they only nerfed their prime.
Wrong. They get refund for both. Read Blizz's notes.
Tell ya what. I'll just keep playing a tempo mage deck that uses Magic Trick instead of Wandmaker. Take out the dragons and put Firebrand back in.
Is the deck dead? Not at all! Is it less likely I'll have a board full of 5/5 and 8 randomly generated spells in my hand by the end of turn 4? Yes.
But I can live with that. That was kind of broken. I'll admit that part.
Long live mage!
Evocation now dodges Skulking Geist in wild.
Lol
Hm 3200 dust
at this rate, you can put the whole class to the hall of fame .... tortolan, now evocation AND solarian ? what's next ? yeah let's put sorcerers apprentice to 9 mana too .... and arcane intellect to 6 mana and draw 1 card !!! that will make the class more fun to play ....
i guess i'll only do may dailies now until i can have fun with this class again ... back to playing other games until then !!
evocation - has to be on 2 mana but i would add a prep to the mix. so you can cast mor spells without aprentice.
evocation not nerfed enough
and prime doesnt need that much of a nerf
but wheres the nerf for sorcerer/quest for wild
edit: why downvote something thats entirely factual lmao
There were two fun mage decks, they killed them both. Hunter and paladin will live on tough. Same bullshit every year.
this is the most frustrating part, fun deck that gives you and your opponent awesome moments that you can remember or tell?? destroy it??
Fucking face hunter whose sole plan is killing you by tun 4, which no one fucking likes??, yeah that's allowed to fucking exist for some fucking reason
how does tempo game give your opponent awesome moments? its not awesome if you just lose to prime perhaps for you as the tempo mage player it is, not on the other side
I don't know, the same mage decks shouldn't be that much worse for the wear. Evocation made for some insane turns, but was rarely the main option during a game (Multiple copies of it that is.
Hunter I agree with lives on and on, though the class tends to depend on speed as its' identity. Paladin has often been underplayed, so even though I don't play it, it's nice when unsung classes get a chance at the top.
Whenever mage gets a decent / tier 1 deck it get nerfed quickly i wonder why ? RIP tempo mage
Because whenever Mage gets a decent tier 1 deck it's based on casino or infinite generation garbage nonsense that no one likes playing against.
And that's exactly what happened again. Maybe if Blizzard didn't make every mage card casino oriented they wouldn't keep having these issues.
No nerf to Sorcerer's Apprentice likely means she's being hall of famed next year.
My thoughts as well.
