Legends in Disguise

The introduction of Dual Class cards have allowed Hearthstone to create some of the most interesting designs so far! There is also a new underused minion with an incredibly unique function that simplifies certain custom game concepts which were previously a nightmare to set up. We present to you a new game mode we call “Legends in Disguise”!

This Custom Game is brought to you by Educated Elekk, the most efficient deck refiller of Scholomance Academy. The next time you need a spell shuffled into your deck, choose Educated Elekk.

This game will provide each player with 16 copies of Dragon's Hoard and 16 Clever Disguises to generate your resources. Additionally as part of the set up, you’ll end up having a few Soul Mirrors at your disposal as well. These can be used to catch up with an opponent who’s ahead or copy any of their value on the board. There are only 4 though, so you’ll have to pick just the right time to use them.

Key Cards For This Game

Dragon's Hoard + Clever Disguise - This game revolves around basically finding a deck through these 2 cards.

Educated Elekk - This magnificent specimen is what will reload your deck with all the spells you need.

Silence + Grave Rune - These cards will allow the Rogue to prepare 4 Educated Elekks at once without loading them up with unnecessary spells.

Soul Mirror - This is used to give Priest the Rogue’s Elekks filled with Dragon’s Hoard and Clever Disguise. There are other ways to get these copies, but throwing in a few Soul Mirrors into these decks proved to be too much fun to leave out.

Violet Illusionist - Master Fatigue Blocker

Plagiarize + Kezan Mystic - Another fantastic addition Hearthstone through Scholomance Academy is the introduction of Plagarize, who can replace Lorewalker Cho as a far cheaper alternative for giving the other player spells. Kezan Mystic is used to give Plagarize to Priest to copy all the Dragon’s Hoards and Clever Disguises all at once. (But if you have Cho and refuse to obtain the other two cards, he can still be used for this purpose)

Galakrond, the Nightmare + Sideshow Spelleater - If your choice of Legendary minion and randomly generated spells isn’t enough, why not throw in some Lackeys? They could give you a chance when your other cards aren’t giving you what you need.

Emperor Thaurissan - The Rogue doesn’t need it, but the Priest does in order to play the main set up cards in one turn. Both Thaurissans can be used to trade off excess minions and healed back up with Priest’s Hero Power.

Void Ripper + Shadow Word: Pain - These are for cleaning up the final set up turn. Void Ripper makes the Educated Elekks killable with Soul Mirror and Shadow Word: Pain removes the Void Ripper and remaining Kezan Mystic, letting the game begin with a clean board.

The Game Plan

One player needs to be a Rogue and the other needs to be a Priest. Suggested deck lists will be at the bottom, but it’s important to know what should go in these decks and why. 

Step 1: Draw Out Your Deck

Load up your deck with plenty of card draw in order to empty your deck so that you can refill it with new cards. However, be careful with putting too much draw in. You still have cards you’ll need to keep in your hand, so burning one of them can ruin the whole thing. Be sure to include sone throwaway cards to keep some space in your hand. You’ll also need a couple forms of damage to clear away minions too big to trade or when someone’s board gets too full.

As soon as Rogue gets Educated Elekk,

Once Rogue becomes Galakrond, Priest can then copy the Hero Power with Sideshow Spelleater.

Step 2: Prepare Hands and Board

Both boards should have a Violet Illusionist.

Rogue needs 2 Dragon's Hoard, 2 Clever Disguise, and Plagiarize.

Priest needs Kezan Mystic, Void Ripper, 2 Shadow Word: Pains, and Soul Mirror. 

Step 3: Begin Set Up

These need to be finished in however many turns it takes (preferably in order).

-Rogue plays Educated Elekk, Priest Silences it and casts 2 Grave Runes on it.

-Priest discounts Void Ripper, 2 Shadow Word: Pains, and Soul Mirror with Emperor Thaurissan to cost a total of (4) Mana or less.

-The board has a Violet Illusionist on both sides, a Rogue has a silenced Educated Elekk given Deathrattles that summon 4 copies of it. Priest has a minion that can evenly trade into the Elekk.

-Rogue plays Plagiarize, Priest steals it with Kezan Mystic.

-Rogue plays both copies of Dragon's Hoard and Clever Disguise. Priest does the same.

-Priest trades their Violet Illusionist into the Rogue’s. Plays Void Ripper. Kills Elekks with Soul Mirror. Kills remaining Kazan Mystic and Void Ripper with Shadow Word: Pain.

Step 4: Figure Out What’s Even Going On Anymore

Choose legendary minions that compliment your random spells for optimal results... or don’t.

Rules

1: Both players must be at 30 health (or at least equal health).

2: No going face until the board is clear.

3: Try to achieve victory with the most ridiculous win condition.

Of course, you’re definitely allowed to change up these rules and even the set up if you wish. In fact, we’re all for it! After all, it’s a custom game. Do things the way YOU want to do them.
