Micro Mummy In Battlegrounds Disabled Once Again
Micro Mummy in Battlegrounds is disabled once again as the latest patch didn't fix the issue on all devices.
Unfortunately, the patch for golden Micro Mummy did not fix the not-so-micro issues it’s been causing on all devices, so we’ve disabled the minion again. It’s clearly cursed, so it might take some time to un-curse. We’ll keep you updated as we find out more.

Actually, it isn't new. It's an existing one. It probably was a hotfix to add it to battlegrounds. That said, tech companies won't always fully test hotfixes, or only leave it to the dev to test it in local and testing environments, which can often have differences between production builds and don't fail. Since otherwise, you lose more time releasing and testing that hotfix than doing it. QA it's the main bottleneck in every tech company, and that's why it's relegated to only critical flows that make you lose money (dust, card packs, shop) or BIG changes (like for example, a new example)... So, no. You won't test that new card if it was a simple hotfix. It's the usual flow in every tech company. An automated tests for a game like this are not that easy to make. Probably they have unit tests though.
Are you a software engineer? For how many years? In which companies did you worked? Since you do these affirmations that's the minimum I'd expect.
It wasn't a hotfix. It was included in the patch on Tuesday. Remember when you updated Hearthstone?
I am a software engineer, hence why I know all about this. And this wasn't even device specific - it was in all versions. This shows a clear lack of release testing. It could be forgiveable if it was an edge case that only showed up on certain device combinations or something - that is not what happened.
The extreme lack of QA has been obvious for a while now. The Shaman crashes in Descent of Dragons simply from playing Galakrond cards exhibited the same obvious lack of QA.
Blizzard devs have a marked habit of allowing hearthstone bugs to linger in the product for a long time, especially when they affect mobile platforms. I play regularly on an ipad air, and there are several serious issues affecting that platform of which Blizzard has been aware for months and still hasn't addressed. With regard to this particular bug, Blizzard has moved quickly because it is clearly severe and very visible, but in my estimate this is not the norm.
And, speaking as a software engineer, I find their lack of interest in fighting these issues disappointing and probably, yes, due to a lack of investment in engineering generally. So the poster above isn't that far from the mark.
@fjl93 Well, I was a senior software engineer at Facebook...
Software engineers in the game industry are paid poorly compared to the rest of tech. It seems like this case was more a matter of poor QA/testing, but it still speaks to a poor eng/product process.
