Season 2 of the Hearthstone Grandmasters 2020 saw its first week this weekend. 48 of the best players in the world began the eight week event with a total of $500,000 and a ticket to the World Championship on the line. The action featured the same format as last season, which saw players start with Swiss Rounds on Wednesday and Thursday. Players were then divided into groups and completed the Group Stages on Friday and Saturday. This led to a 4-man single elimination tournament for each region which wrapped up Sunday.
This second weekend a different format than last week: 4 deck Last Hero Standing with 1 ban. The way it works is that both players bring 4 decks, and both players ban 1 deck of their opponent. They then choose to play a deck of the remaining decks to play with and if they win with the deck they get to continue playing with it. Losing with a deck will eliminate it and if all your decks are eliminated, you lose the series.

Road to Playoffs
You can see below how the Grand Masters is going to work for this stage and the first 3 weeks in general. It starts with the points being given out, where everyone that even made the weekend play will receive 3 points. We then have the graphic displaying how the Divisions and the road to the playoffs will work.
In every Region the players will be divied up according to points from the first 3 weeks. Meaning the Top 8 points players will go into Division A and the Bottom 8 points players will go to Division B. They then fight it out within their Division over the next 4 weeks before the Playoffs and Relegation matches will be played.
- First place: 8 points.
- Second place: 6 points.
- Third and Fourth place: 5 points.
- Fifth and Sixth place: 4 points.
- Seventh and Eighth place: 3 points.
- Ninth through Twelfth place: 2 points.
- Thirteenth through Sixteenth place: 1 points.
According to the above, it is pretty safe to say that this weekend's winners, Surrender, RDU and Eddie have made great strides towards being in their Region's Division A, with all of them getting 6 points. We will publish the standings after this week with our Preview post next Thursday!

Did anyone actually win with these bomb warrior decks? I've been playing a few on them and they seem to lose 90% of the time unless you actually draw decent early game.
Never see them in diamond. Shrug
I wanted to watch these matches & I tried, but it's unbelievable for me, that these EU caster can't fix their God damn microphones... For so long, because it's not the first time... Few times I gave up, later i decided to mute sound, or just reduce volume to minimum...
Secondary - decks & classes were soooo similar. I hope, that maybe someone fill find new archetype/deck or at least new power in others cards & classes, because of that "meta" matches were in some way more boring...
Except Priests mirrors, because it was fiesta xD
Or maybe someone already thinks, that "nerfs/buffs are required.
I don't know - I was trying to play different type of Rouge, or some Galakron Priest, or Quest mage - didn't worked for me.
Bur after that I started thinking about something different: "Big Warrior" type -Dimensional Ripper etc - I made my own, cheap version of it & yesterday I managed do get from rank 9 to rank 5 very fast xD
Priests are annoying, a lot of Druids & Paladins, Deamon hunters also, but I saw few times different types of Hunters, or Warlocks & they beat me up so fast, but also in so fun way xD
Maybe tournament wasn't very diverse, but ladder surely is. Probably after this month, when people will get rewards & more packs, they IMO will start to "break the meta" ;)
No hunter either...
None of those brought Paladin. Bans happen from the 4 brought decks you see. Most banned decks week 2 were warrior and priest
For tournament play, Paladin is one of the worst classes.
Wasnt First Place supposed to reward 8 pts and not 6 pts? Or did something change? Week 2 Preview guide mentioned 8 pts for the winners of week 1.

This is a good catch, thanks!
I wasn't too involved in making the standings on Thursday and I did not realize that the standings were different from what we thought was the points distribution.
Have to assume the points standing on Official Site is correct though and that the overview on this page was wrong at first. I updated it to be in line with official standings now though :)
Not a single paladin. Everyone banned him or nobody took him?
Paladin is good on ladder but doesn't work in competitive.
