Scholomance Academy Launch Day - Everything You Need To Know!

Hearthstone's newest expansion Scholomance Academy launches today, August 6th. We brought all the information and useful links together in this news post for you.

• The Scholomance Academy Expansion is LIVE. Good luck and have fun!
• Yet another 135 new cards have been added to the game.
• You can view all the new cards in our Scholomance Academy Cards List.
• There will be new PvE content coming with Scholomance Academy and it will be FREE, but there's no specific release date or other details revealed yet.

Included for free in the Expansion

• All players logging in will get two of the Scholomance Academy Epic card Transfer Student for free!
• All players logging in will get a Scholomance Academy Legendary Class Card for free!
• There is a chain of Event Quests to celebrate the release: 1 new quest every day, for 3 days with a total of 6 Scholomance Academy packs!
• August 6, 10:00 AM PT / 19:00 CEST: Play 25 Cards in Play mode to earn 2 Scholomance Academy card packs.
• August 7, 10:00 AM PT / 19:00 CEST: Play 20 Spells in any mode to earn 2 Scholomance Academy card packs.
• August 8, 10:00 AM PT / 19:00 CEST: Win 3 games any mode to earn 2 Scholomance Academy card packs.

Launch Day Goals

• Login to get your free Event Quest mentioned above.
• Craft any golden Legendaries you really want. This is important due to the no duplicate legendaries rule.
• Open up your packs! (if you have not already) You get a guaranteed Legendary within your first 10 packs.
• Share your awesome decks with everyone on HearthPwn via our Deckbuilder. Remember, including a good guide means more upvotes!

New Mechanics

• Dual Class Cards - Cards featuring mechanics inspired by both classes' strengths. The set will include 40 Dual Class cards.
• New Keyword: Spellburst - A one time only effect when casting a spell. With a Spellburst minion or weapon in play, casting a spell will activate the Spellburst effect.
• Studies - Spells which allow you to immediately Discover a card and also reduce the mana cost of the next card you play of that type.
• Soul Fragments - Demon Hunter and Warlock will have access to cards that put Soul Fragments in your deck or interact with Soul Fragments already in there. Soul Fragments are token cards that, when drawn, heal the Hero for 2 health and draw another card.
• 135 New Cards.

New Mechanics

Some mechanics that were seen in previous card sets were brought back on new cards, as well as some truly new mechanics were added:

• A Battlecry that makes the opponent's spells cost more next turn.
• Your Minions have "Can't be targeted by spells or Hero Powers"
• At the end of your turn, draw until you have 3 cards.
• Whenever your opponent draws a card, add a copy to your hand.
• At the start of your turn, look at your top card. You can put it on the bottom.
• Reorder your deck from the highest Cost card to the lowest Cost card.
• Whenever a spell is played, this minion remembers it. Deathrattle: Shuffle the spells into your deck.
• Look at 3 cards in your opponent's hand. Shuffle one of them into their deck.

Arena Changes

The Arena rotation is not really changing it seems. This time it is the same card sets you can find in the Standard game mode, but the Scholomance Academy cards get added, which means the following sets are active:

• Basic
• Classic
• Rise of Shadows
• Saviors of Uldum
• Descent of Dragons
• Galakrond's Awakening
• Ashes of Outland
• Scholomance Academy
• Demon Hunter Initiate

Theorycrafted Decks

We created a special Decks post yesterday, with a lot of new archetypes and a lot of new deck ideas. You can find the links to those Decks posts below.

Alternatively, create your own deck with the Deckbuilder, add a good guide on how to pilot the deck and help create the post-launch meta!
