He's joining final design, which is the group that deals with balancing the cards that have already been designed. It's the kind of position where you want high level players with a lot of experience in deckbuilding, because their job is pretty much solely to try to break every card so that it comes out well balanced.

I loved Gallon's Deck building discussions with Zalae, I didn't watch a lot of them, but they always were enjoyable.

Certainly can see why he'd be a valuable addition to the team.

Hiring people that play the game competitively is really cool because many people doubt that Blizzard has any idea on how to balance this game (as can be seen from the reviews from basically every expansion on other sites as well), and surely a competitive player knows when a card is too broken, right?

Jokes aside, what's the difference between Final Design and Initial Design? Seems strange to me that there'd be two separate teams that work on design but at separate stages. That said, I don't have experience in design of any sort, so maybe that's perfectly normal and I don't understand it.

Initial design is the creative part of design; you decide wich effect, new keyword, new mechanics, new archétype ecc.

Final design is more related to balance the work made by the initial design team.

So happy for Gallon and Cora, they are both awesome.

The more the better. They should hire more gameplay experts to make the game better!

Blizzard couldn't possibly afford to hire the entirety of this forum!
