This week's brawl is A Peek To The Past!
Rules:
Let's take it a notch down there brawler. Make a deck using only cards from the Basic and Classic sets, but none of those fancy Epics or Legendaries, ya hear?
Rewards:
A Classic Card Pack for winning the Brawl once.
If you have a great deck for this brawl, create it in our deckbuilder, and share it with the world! Just make sure to label the Deck Type as a "Tavern Brawl" while saving and it might show up on the front page!
Good old fashioned board control and resource management -- breath of fresh air. I auto-completed a rogue deck and replaced a few cards to make it a bit more aggressive (Reckless Rocketeer, Cold Blood, for example). 4-0. Think that's good enough. Sidenote: Hope the proposed new mode involves a way to get back to this style of play, like a mix and match of previous expansions or something.
Ah the good ol' days of dropping a Chillwind Yeti.. Nostalgic tavern brawl.
I've played some games and the main take away I had was: "I know what you are going to play". Without the RNG and card generation it is usually very easy to predict what your opponent is going to do, or wants to do.
I'll be honest though, not sure if that's a good or bad thing...
I'm playing with this deck: https://www.hearthpwn.com/decks/1353121-op-standard-enrage-zoo-brawl and I can't lose yet.
Zoolock would be OP in this if they ever made this a format like Standard or Wild.
Nice one
A fun minion trading old style brawl, where you don't have to overthink your turns and get the games finished quick.
And the best thing, almost no RNG involved. Apart from the mulligan and draw the outcome of animal companion and the 1 mana mage spell that gives you a random mage spell is pretty much the only thing to worry about.
I'll definitely exploit this for some gold boost with the new expansion around the corner.14 wins yesterday with priest mostly. Remove, heal and steal what you can, trade smart and once the opponent runs out of gas buff a taunt with the +2/+6 spell and the 5/6 that gives +3 health and Inner fire him. Works even without divine spirit and the games still dont last as long as the usual unfun priest games. I'll try shaman with hex, fire elemental and a windfury finish today and maybe an aggressive buff paladin build.
More of these minion trading brawls without heavy RNG please, maybe with classic epics and/or legends next time. Garrosh, Jaraxxus, Antonidas they are fun to play..
With the relatively recent priest overhaul, I feel like they are quite likely the strongest class for this brawl. They have by far the strongest 1 drop with Psychic Conjurer. Thoughtsteal is insane, Shadow Madness is crazy good, Holy Smite doing 3dmg for 1, Shadow Word: Death at 2 mana, Temple Enforcer at 5 mana, Holy Nova at 4 mana.....their classic/basic set when limited to just commons and rares are kind of unfair compared to other classes common and rare classic/basic cards.
Yes, priest seems strong (i play priest all the time, only golden char i have) ... but easiest way is to pick hunter, hit auto complete deck and win the pack ;)
But also with a refined hunter deck it is super fun, i like the old play style, good secrets, eaglehorn bow and some beasts ... and ... face is the place :)
Wild without the wildness - I'm not much of a deckbuilder, but it was pleasingly nostalgic to be including cards that were once staples. 'Two of them, and two of them, one of those and - ooh, ooh, that one for sure'. It's like going back to your old vinyl collection and cranking up a turntable instead of Spotify.
what ya lookin at?
"Let's remove every card card from every expansion. There, we have our Tavern Brawl this week."
"But the only fun cards will be classic epic and legendary cards"
"Oh yeah, none of those either. Almost forgot about those."
gets shredded by hunter
I will probably disagree with everyone here and get all the downvotes, but this is definitely not a fun brawl. It's just regular playing with heavily limited deckbuilding. Nothing special or crazy.
No, Ogre is the correct spelling. Don't ask why, english is weird.
no, I'm sure oger is 97% correct.
just wanted to point out Ogre is actually french LOL
Language in itself is often weird.
Oger is probably at least 50% correct
Oger is at least how it's spelled in german.
i'd say oger is 67% correct for the cost
Are u from Belarus?
Cant stop playing. The op card for me is Harvest Golem.
I just played against a Demon Hunter.
To play with DH, copy any net deck, and then edit the deck.
