SCHOLOMANCE ACADEMY
HEARTHSTONE’S NEWEST EXPANSION
Greetings, aspiring adept! We’re thrilled to welcome you to Scholomance Academy! Within the lofty halls of this fabled magic college, the (mostly) good Headmaster Kel’Thuzad and the rest of our faculty are here to guide the next generation of greats, from Warlocks to Warriors and everything between. We encourage the pursuit of double majors and offer a plethora of cross-over studies. Whatever flavor of major you favor, Scholomance has the training grounds to suit your needs!
Just . . . don’t go exploring those dusty crypts beneath the schoolgrounds. There’s no reason at all to be concerned about what Kel’Thuzad and the Cult of the Damned are stirring up down there . . .
Scholomance Academy will launch worldwide in early August! You can find the full schedule for card reveals here. Be sure to visit the card library to see which cards were announced today and check back frequently—it’ll be updated with new cards as they’re revealed over the coming weeks!
Introducing Dual Class Cards
Scholomance Academy is renowned for providing its pupils with a richly varied magical education across multiple mystical disciplines. Dual-Class cards embody this cross-pollination of learnings by mashing up unique mechanics inspired by both classes’ strengths, unlocking a whole new spectrum of gameplay possibilities. These Dual-Class cards make up 40 of the 135 cards to be released with Scholomance Academy. Each Dual-Class combination also includes a shared Legendary minion—that course's professor!
The 10 class combinations are:
- Druid/Hunter
- Hunter/Demon Hunter
- Demon Hunter/Warlock
- Warlock/Priest
- Priest/Paladin
- Paladin/Warrior
- Warrior/Rogue
- Rogue/Mage
- Mage/Shaman
- Shaman/Druid
New Keyword: Spellburst
Scholomance Academy introduces a new keyword: Spellburst, a one-time only effect when you cast a spell! With a Spellburst minion or weapon in play, casting a Spell will activate its Spellburst effect. Spellburst minions add a new way to combo, play, and spell-blast your way to Legend!
Studies
Studies are new spells that allow you to Discover a card immediately and also reduce the mana cost of the next card you play of that type. At Scholomance Academy, dedicated study is rewarded with power!
Year of the Phoenix Phase 2
Scholomance Academy marks the beginning of the second phase of the Year of the Phoenix. Between now and the next expansion, you can expect several major updates from us, including balance patches, new Battlegrounds Heroes and minions, a seasonal event, and what was previously spell-locked—a new solo experience and Battlegrounds feature! Let’s not forget—a new game mode is on its way as well! We’ll have more details to share on these exciting developments in the months to come.

Battlegrounds Panda Emote.
ok boys new APM for druid is EZ: Elise+Brewmaster+LightingBloom+MoonFire
get your ass ready we are on fire😁
IF done properly dual-class cards will be nice... BUT if not done properly it can create some serious cancer decks.
Sooo... I predict lots of nerfs (and dust). And I like dust. And cancer. Bring on me!
new updates should:
-auto squelch
-achievements. lots of. with gold reward
-more daily quest. 1 arena, 1 bg, 1 standard
-1 win = 10 gold
-dh cards can be disenchant
ok guys finally druid got AoE, Wretched Tutor is your half assed Spreading Plague
Lightning Bloom is why Innervate had to die and it already scares me deeply. It's not even for one specific class anymore, but for two.
so what? Innervate nerfed long ago because of Jade Druid Era. Not until now
I don't think it'd be so much of a problem with Druid. With Shaman otherwise... This card'll allow some broken turns on overload shaman.
I didn't say it's a problem in druid specifically. I just think this card is a general buff for both classes. It's just way too generic.
Lightning Bloom. is gonna make Windsinger a thing, OTK druids are half baked already
not rly. Once Windsinger presents on board, Lightning Bloom itself costs 1 mana
We had useless Cobalt Guardian and we had even more useless Glass Knight. Now, when paladin is dead class, we have even more useless two shield crap
4/2 Divine Shield for 3 is a massively better statline than 4/3 for 4 or 6/3 for like... 5?
Definitely right, a 4/2 is really nice and we haven't seen if this expansion develops Divine Shield for Paladin.
Scarlet Crusader? It's just one more health, because ability is garbage and will hardly ever make any change
It doesn't matter, DS will never be paladin flavor, plus blizzard was never consistent with paladin's mechanic, so after seeing this garbage Scarlet Crusader powercreep, I can bet my head that this class will remain dead
That's a whole 1/1 worse, without any possible refresh, and being able to do 4 damage instead of 3 is a pretty significant breakpoint.
On top of things, most paladins are running buff spells. Libram of Wisdom, Hand of A'dal, maybe even Blessing of Kings on curve.
Now, I'm not sure it'll make the cut. However, it's got a reasonable statline, and probably is pretty easy to actually refresh. If an opponent commits two resources to taking out a 3-drop before you can leverage the Spellburst, that's probably a worthy 3-drop.
Except you have no way of triggering spellburst without enemy skipping his turn, and enemy needs dick slap + 2 damage to kill it, which rogue with equipped dagger can do for 0 or 1 mana
If a rogue is putting a dagger charge, 4 health, and a backstab into my 3-drop, that's fine. That's what I needed a 3-drop to do.
And if an opponent doesn't do that, and is only able to develop a 3-drop of their own, you can kill it and re-shield. Because simply developing into Goody Two-Shields can go so wrong, this is a 3-drop which forces an opponent to have an answer, and an answer that almost surely won't be a single card--it needs also a weapon or minion on board or hero power.
I mean, Paladin will often run essentially three 2-mana 2/1 Divine Shields (Murgur Murgurgle, Shotbot). This is a 3-mana card with double the stats, maybe more. C'Thun's Chosen back in the day was solid, and this is cheaper and better. I'm not saying it's automatically going to make the cut, but it warrants serious consideration and testing, not dismissal out-of-hand.
At very least, it ought to be obvious how much better than Glass Knight or Cobalt Guardian or Scarlet Crusader it is.
Rogue wouldn't have to have dagger in a first place which is unlikely. Add lackeys to it, and you see how useless this card is
