Rough Outline of Coming Balance Changes - Including Sac Pact, Albatross & Kael'thas
Blizzard did a reddit AMA and one of the questions asked was about the upcoming Balance Patch that was posted about in our news last week. We have their answer below, which includes mention of changes to Sacrificial Pact ,Bad Luck Albatross ,Frenzied Felwing ,Kael'thas Sunstrider and the Demon Hunter class with 1 or 2 more cards and more! Read all about it below:
Quote from BlizzardHey! We are planning something soon, but here I will shed light on what we are looking at.
With the Year of the Phoenix and Demon Hunter especially, we want to make sure we are active with our approach to balance. There will be additional changes coming shortly that is focused on Demon Hunter, Standard, Wild, and Arena.
For Demon Hunter, we are still monitoring the data as it comes in but expect 1 or 2 cards to see a change. We are thrilled by how players have responded to Demon Hunter, but we want the class to be in a healthy state for years to come. Will be adjusting as we see fit in order to get it into a great spot.
For other standard cards, we are looking at a number of cards including Sacrificial Pact, Bad Luck Albatross, Frenzied Felwing, and Kael'thas Sunstrider. Some of these cards present some raw power that is just a little too high (Bad Luck Albatross, Frenzied Felwing), while a card like Kael'Thas can create some crazy swing turns but that's usually only fun for one player. Kael'Thas is a super interesting card though so we don't want to kill off his combo potential entirely.
When it comes to Sac Pac, we don't believe it is fun if it plays such a large role in the metagame. That says a lot about where the meta is and your ability to play certain cards. Also, it would be awesome to see more Lord Jaraxxus!
For Wild, we know there has been a lot of very strong reactions to Quest Mage and Darkest Hour Warlock. These decks play in a one-player fashion similar to other decks we've nerfed in the past. There's going to be crazy combos in Wild, but we don't think these two decks in particular are healthy. Expect to see changes to Open the Waygate and Bloodbloom.
Finally for Arena, we are looking to do a full microadjust patch alongside these changes or shortly after. DH is still a little too strong here and we want to bring up the other classes to close this gap.
albatross strength is changes the game plan for the opponent and such a good card to include it in a deck + Good 3 drop not that many in the game are good.
I agree, that could shake the Meta in Wild
Plz put alex on that list, thanks.
edit ppl like 2 0 mana dragons i guess, cause thats fun
You can't have duplicates. That is a fair requirement.
Warlock is fine the way it is, no need to nerf anything. Adjust Druid and DH and the game will be fun to play again.
Curious to see how will they nerf Kael'thas Sunstrider without killing it. Suppose they change so you can only reduce 1 spell to 0 per turn, would people still play OTK DH?
Have you used the card yet?
How can you suggest a change when you don't know how it works?
Mmnemonicabyss, what do you mean? He means only the 3rd spell will cost 0. Not the 6th spell and 9th spell and ...
So i think he knows perfectly well how it works.
Please forgive me for misinterpreting what the child was typing with his exceptional grammar.
How to make jaraxuss viable. Let him keep the handbuffs he recieved (with cards like Imprisoned Scrap Imp,History Buff etc maybe jsut the health buff not the attack/weapon buff because that whould make him maybe broken( also you can jsut tech anti weapon removal) when played from hand.
I've always been on the fence whether to craft DH legendaries or not because of all these changes. DH could suddenly become a dead class and then I wasted 3200 dust on garbage.
Luckily you usually can get a full dust refund when cards get nerfed :)
Unfortunately they make legendaries obsolete by nerfing cards of lesser rarity thus avoiding the need to refund you 3200 dust.
I am very disappointed for these nerfs for wild. There are a lot of broken decks:
- Secret Mage
- Highlander Priest
- Ciclone Mage (Yes because with the flamewaker doesn't need the quest)
- Mech Pala
In these way, you will hit only few of the top tiers: Odd Demon hunter, Reno quest and mecha'thun warlock
So you will only kill the deck diversification. In my opinion, if you want to touch wild (and I agree, because it is not fun anymore) you have to nerf all the broken decks, not only 3 killing the diversification and making wild even worst.
Neither Secret Mage nor Mech Pala are truly Top Tier. They are one trick ponies that can easily be counterplayed.
Secret Mage, overpower them on board so their burn goes on your minions, they run out of ALL cards in their deck pretty fast.
Mech Pala, just remove the mechs. Very easy, many decks can do it.
Ciclone Mage doesn't exist. The deck is nothing without the quest even though cyclone is certainly quite broken.
Reno Priest is Top Tier but definitely not oppressive at the moment. Just because a deck is strong doesn't mean it is broken.
Man you talk about your options, nobody cares, there are data. All tier 1, if you think that these deck are not tiers 1 you are playing another game, and I don't care.
It's not that they are batshit crazy, it's the fact that the decks are extremely disgusting to play against and requires very little interaction.
Why Explosive Runes is not in this list?
Not Kael!
You will take away all the fun :(
What we actualy need, is more combos and combo generators like Kael, that is difficult to pull off but very fun and potentialy game changing.
Because all there is to the game right now is play the strongest cards and win. And it is boring :(
Is this all 100% sarcasm? Lol
