this might be the most broken card of the set
Busted. So multi-purpose. A 1 mana 2/1 that deals 1 dmg on battlecry is in itself OP and so much stronger than elven archer it's not even funny. But then it can also combine with any powerful minion of your own for extremely efficient removal. It's a must-include in every single Paladin deck no matter the situation.
This is anti rogue tech
A quite good minion. Ping to finish stuff off, or make it really easy for your own minions to go 2-for-1 with Divine Shield, or help protect something from damage-based AOE. On top of that, premium stats.
However... it's still just a 1-drop. Premium-stats 1-drops with useful abilities are strong for what they are, but ultimately they're still just 1-drops. Something can be very good without breaking the game.
Blizzard has never understood the concept of "balanced cards". That why we all love Hearthstone. I mean, do you know any other card games with such wild effects?
Blood Knight combo potential?
Is it worth it though? If you give a friendly minion a divine shield, chances are that you rather spend it attacking something "for free".
It's a good card, but probably not good enough(?)
Paladin has Hand of Protection and Argent Protector, they are not seen play regularly since game launch.
Sand Breath still doesn't see play and is also questionable even with the most amount of buff synergy within the next expansion.
I know not every classes are the same, since this is a neutral card, but I think there are way more better cards to fit in a 30 slots deck.
1/1 nerf soon.
making it 2 mana 2/1 would be better
Suspiciously powerful
I like it when the strongest cards in the set are tiny 1-mana dudes, like Firefly and this
I think people are overplaying the versatility in the sense of triggering effects with it. What this card should be read as is the next time the minion would take damage, they only take 1. It has some marginal uses in preventing direct damage removal effects on key minions, but realistically is not worth a slot in anything that ain't aggressive that also likes trading. It's statline leads me to compare it to prenerf abusive sergeant, an offensive 1 cost body that helps make value trades for aggressive archthypes. It does not offer the same reach, but as an outcome offers similar number of surviving minions.
It will be strong, but unless we have an extremely trade heavy midrange meta, it won't see play outside of aggro.
You're missing something here. It can also deal 1 damage to an enemy minion to finish it off.
It's basically a strictly better Elven Archer, by sacrificing the ability to hit face, you get 1 more attack and the ability to give your minion Divine Shield.
This card is also comparable to Cruel Taskmaster.
I have to disagree. It's not strictly better than Elven Archer, b/c the archer can go face and you can setup a clear for next turn by diminishing the health of an opponent's minion (impossible with this card b/c you'll give it divine shield).
I agree, it's quite more comaprable to Cruel Taskmaster
Finishing off the enemy minion isn't the only other use case that makes this card good. It can activate "more attack when damaged" type cards while protecting them from being rushed down. I'm surprised how many players are dismissing this. Warrior has plenty of such cards, Temple Berserker is another one.
I can see aggro decks running Raging Worgen now that this exists.
I love the flavor of this card. Has anyone yet mentioned the bonus synergy too enrage minions?
Acoylte of Pain died for this FeelsBadMan.
