It’s hilarious how people interpret this card.
This card is basically a tech card for anti-swarm and also a dormant minion wipe.
anti-swarm: If your opponent swarm you with 5-7 minions, drop this. There won’t be any warders to stop you then and after two turns viola. (Gg quest hunter)
Wipe: A board wipe including opponent dormant cards. Place this and a hellfire or aoe then viola.
mindcontrol tech = this
spellbreaker = maiev
If the opponent's board is full, Mag will never wake up, ala the Darkness milling the candle.
talking about interpret this card...your 2 arguments couldnt be more wrong
Lmao "and then viola"
got some boneappletea here
Remind me not evolve any 3 cost minions.
Domant minions, that can't wake up are supposed to not be in an evolve pool since the latest patch.
oh goody
The question that needs to be asked here is - do the wardens have deathrattle: When all wardens die, awaken magtheridon? Or are they textless? Because textless would be a problem, and having deathrattle wouldn't be as bad since some classes can just silence the wardens.
On second thought, i guess if they did have deathrattle, perhaps magtheridon's text would've mentioned it.
Theres a gameplay vid on instagram and they were 1/3 textless. They used hellfire and when they did a little counter on him went up like a quest.
If your opponent can’t find an answer in 2 turns (removing warden without killing it or destroying big minion) this can become a problem.
Seems stronger than darkness since you can awaken him in 1-2 turns. At least playable.
Resurrect 1/3 xD
You won't be able to summon either of them with random effects after outland hits.
Has the same interaction as the old "The darkness"
If pulled from the deck, becomes an unusable board space
It's not 100% certain it will work that way though. It really depends on how the wardens work. Do each individual warden give a charge and once the charge hits 3 it awakens, or is it something along the lines of deathrattle: if there are no other wardens on board, awaken magtheridon?
Big Game Hunter, loves this busted card...
Does Magtheridon have a counter on him similar to The Darkness that count the enemy warders?
If so then will the counter go up if:
1- enemy warder transforms.
2- enemy warder leaves the field (sap, not enough board space for the opponent)
3- only when it dies.
Mostly likely it is 3 and that would put it into the category of impossibly awakening this card if evolved a minion into it so it would be removed from the evolve pool like the darkness.
Now into discussing the card strength. The card is powerful with the ability to clear the board and put fodder into enemy Resurrection Pool but I think it will be used in combination with another card like Hellfire to clear the board and summon it on 8 mana rather than try to cheat it on turn 4 or 5. If an enemy uses a Polymorph on one of the warders then it is effectively a Polymorph on Magtheridon as well so it isn’t that bad except you just gave your opponent 3 minions.
All and all powerful card but tricky to use
There is also the question of what happens when only spawning 1 or 2 Warders.
To wake up, Magtheridon needs paticularly 3 warders to die.
1. If an enemy warder is transformed - no wake up
2. If an enemy warder is sapped/removed by Reno/shadowstepped - no wake up
3. If less than 3 warders were summoned - no wake up
But I suppose that if an enemy summons his own Magtheridon, your side warder's deaths may proc. So, the one who summoned Magtheridon later, wins the board.
Cool idea. I'm really liking how the devs are using this Dormant concept.
Wonder what happens if it cannot summon all three 1/3s (e.g. if the opponent already has 5+ minions)
