16.6.1 Server Hotfix for Legend Rank Adjustment
Earlier today Blizzard made an announcement that they were doing a server-side hot fix to adjust the way ratings work in Legend rank after there was much to do about how slow and small ratings changes had become after the patch. The reason for this was that they had gone to a new, more precise rating formula that will be used in Battlegrounds. This is now being adjusted again to make it work more like the old way, while keeping the more accurate rating update formula in place.
Quote from BlizzardHey everyone,
We are currently rolling out a 16.6.1 Server Hotfix so that Legend players see a little more swing in their rank post-game. To prepare for the overhaul coming to Ranked Mode, we did some work behind the scenes with the 16.6 patch that swapped the old Ranked system over to the new, more precise, rating update formula used in Battlegrounds. This formula comes with a lower rating movement that happens post-game, which is why Legend players are seeing their ranks fluctuate less after a win or loss currently. This change should restore Legend rank changes to their previous state, while keeping the more accurate rating update formula in place.
We will continue to monitor these adjustments and make changes as needed.
6 years since HS start they still cant make normal MMR system like in thousands games on the world including Gwent ;)
It might not be anything, but I can't help but be a little concerned whenever I see Activision-Blizzard fiddling around with MMR systems in the background of their games that are reliant of Micro-transations without declaring them or going in depth on the changes.
I remember a few years ago reading about how Activision patented a MMR system that encourages players to buy micro-transactions by purposely messing with players user experiences within the match-making. They did say it was purely exploratory and for R&D at that time, but it's been a few years of silence since then.
Here's an article about it from the time if anyone is interested.

Blizz has never given details on how the matchmaking works and they never will, I guess. Maybe knowing too much about it would be an open door to abuses..
It’s irritating that they made changes to the mmr and ranked ladder positioning without mentioning them in the release notes. Why are they so secretive when it comes to this subject?
