Hmm, I still haven't dusted my golden The Voraxx, do you guys think he could be fun or helpful in such deck? Libram of Hope, get two 8/8 taunt and divine shield. A'dal draw 2 cards. And all other buffs? I have tried him in many decks but he is too slow, I don't dust any non-golden legends anymore, but being golden and not that useful I'm tempted.
Galvadon, The Last Kaleidosaur! Maybe the buff quest paladin will eventually be playable... one day...
Give it taunts and its playable.
What I want to see now is a buff to Blessing of Kings, so Paladin will not desperately need a good buff everytime buff synergy card like this comes out.
It's like Blizzard has to give Priest good board-clear cards every expansion because the class desperately needs it in every rotation. I'm happy about the new Priest identity though, it has a better basic/classic board-clear now.
I understand that basic/classic cards aren't suppose to be too good, because the class will feel the same in every rotation, but having no staple cards at all, like Paladin, is a bit too extreme. This is the reason why Paladin feels the lack of identity because it needs to rebuild its identity every rotation.
People are overvaluing this card if they think this is good; it provides *good* value, but the tempo loss is extreme, which is very problematic for a class which depends really heavily on having things on the board, more so than other classes. There is no class which depends more heavily on having things on the board, because there is essentially no removal in the entire class than does not depend on board states.
Additionally the spells you get back from this are in themselves questionable. None of the buffs in Paladin standard right now are usually worth putting in your deck on their own. People talk about cheap buffs like Blessing of Might and Sand Breath to lessen the impact of the lost tempo but these cards are not worth taking up a slot in your deck. They provide good value for the mana cost but do not provide good enough impact to put in a deck with a limited number of cards. This is the same problem as Paladin Secrets which have the exact same problem. For the heavier buffs (which include Blessing of Kings) I don't know how these people propose in the same breath that Paladin can play such a low tempo card and have the tempo left to play those heavier buffs on something on the board. And Blessing of Kings is a generically good card, but nothing really specially good that you'd want 4 copies of Blessing of Kings.
For the Healing Spells they are just complete trash. Lay on Hands at this point of Hearthstone under current Paladin is basically a worse Sprint that costs 1 more and draws 1 less card, it is too expensive and you cannot find the time to cast it. And cards that do nothing but heal are nearly worthless in every archetype but stall and even there it is usually not used unless they do something else that is beneficial. This is not even mentioning the fact that Paladin does not even have a functional late game strategy to heal towards to.
This card is a pointless waste of card slots right now, so whatever Blizz decide to print in terms of targeted friendly spells needs to be really fucking good to justify it. And from the last two years of Hearthstone expansions I am not at all confident in Blizzard doing this.
Edit: They actually went and printed a package that makes Liadrin worthwhile, thank god.
Awesome. Even if the stats don’t reflect it. I feel Paladins had probably the biggest hay day (as someone who has played Paladin main on WoW since Burning Crusade) during BC. I think (hope) they’re going to reflect that in this expansion.
“Holy fire... is my.... middle name “! 🔥 ✨
Poor paladin while shaman is also getting bad cards but makes up for it with evolution cards
As underwhelming as this card seems, I'll be surprised if we don't get a strong Paladin spell this expansion.
Warlock and Druid could use a good new spell right about now too
Hmmm... when you cast a secret, are you targeting yourself to do it? Or is a secret like casting an untargetted spell (like Flamestrike)?
I am assuming cards that need a target unless its intentions were different.
It is the latter. Quests, Secrets, AoE etc would not be refunded.
Paladins need a new Spikeridged steed. What the hell are they doing with my favorite class. Got more than 3000 wins with control paladin, but holy shit how can I play it now when rogues, DHs, Mages and hunters get broken legendaries?
Exactly! For the past 4 years I have only played Paladin and every damn expansion I hope for a revival...
Most of the good targets for this in the standard set are rotating. Therefore Lady Liadrin is impossible to evaluate until we see the whole set. Even if they just reprinted Spikeridge Steed and a cheap, efficient heal this card is pretty decent for control decks and can keep you in the game.
I can't wait to play my Highlander-Pure-Buff-Dragon-Murloc-Mech aggro-tempo-control Paladin deck ! This once again will be a great expansion for Pal !
I notice that it says "friendly CHARACTER" and not minion, so... maybe you can get back healing tools you waste on your own face... maybe?
edit: like Lay on Hands or Flash of Light
Good point, then it is becoming a bit better, the effect actually is really interesting, we will see after some good spells are introduced.
Remember Lynessa Sunsorrow? Now we made her worse
I wouldn't say so, since Lynessa cast it on itself and then got silenced or otherwise removed. Now, you have the option to spread out all those buff cards etc. Seems a lot better imo
