All Card Changes! - Hall of Fame and Priest - Coming March 26th!
One of the main recurring themes of a new rotation year is that several cards will be moved to the Hall of Fame. These changes will go into effect on Thursday March 26th 2020. Here are the affected cards for this year:
Hall of Fame
- Leeroy Jenkins
- Leeroy Jenkins is one of Blizzard’s most beloved characters, but his time has come. He just ends too many games, with too much neutral face damage, and hinders class identity.
- Mountain Giant
- Mountain Giant has been around as a deck enabler for a long time and Blizzard enjoys the decks he helped create. By rotating it allows them to fill that design space with new cards.
- Mind Control Tech
- Mind Control Tech is the kind of random effect that Blizzard no longer wants to promote in Standard, because it often brings out very negative feelings and big swings in game state.
- Acolyte of Pain
- Acolyte of Pain is one of the most popular forms of Card Draw in the game and it makes it hard to differentiate between classes.
- Spellbreaker
- Much like Acolyte of Pain, rotating Spellbreaker will allow Blizzard to fill the design space with different Silence cards.
Quote from HearthPwn"s interview w/ Dean "IksarHS" Ayala -- Check back Wednesday for the full Interview!Dean: Cards like Leeroy and Mountain Giant and Sylvanas and Ragnaros, are cards that are good in every Meta and as a result of that every expansion people are playing those same cards.
The whole point of doing an expansion is that you log in and things feel fresh and different and if the Basic and Classic set have those more universally strong cards that game play experience feels more stale.
Priest Changes
Blizzard had already hinted at this several months ago when Divine Spirit was a much used card in Standard at the end of Saviors of Uldum, but changes are coming to the Priest Basic and Classic set.
The main reason for this is that some of the cards in the Basic and Classic set no longer align with the class identity that Blizzard set out for the Priest class. They want Priests to be strong at control and fighting on the board. They hope to get closer to that vision with these changes they are making.
It starts with cards that need more change than just mana changes. They simply do not fit any longer with the class identity or are limiting design space. That is why the following cards will be moved to the Hall of Fame and replaced with new cards.
Replacements
These are the cards they are being replaced with:
Mana & Mechanics Changes
That is not all however. To complete their vision, Blizzard also announced changes to the following cards, most of them are mana changes, but there’s some mechanical changes too, like Power Word: Shield no longer providing card draw:
Quote from HearthPwn"s interview w/ Dean "IksarHS" Ayala -- Check back Wednesday for the full Interview!HearthPwn: [Are you keeping a close eye on Priest performance, and would you be willing to make more aggressive changes if it turns out it’s necessary?]
Dean: Yeah, absolutely. I think we will make a little more aggressive changes than we have done in recent memory and this is even more true for Demon Hunter.

Better revive the sorry emote in wild
im afraid you wont...
Will I get golden Northshire Cleric if I didn't reach lvl 40-42 with Priest?
Never too late to say it but lets go:
Craft Golden Leeroy and any goldens you always wished cause they're gonna give you dust back
1000x This. Even if you already have the non-gold card you can play with the golden copy and disenchant later for the 1600 you would have gotten anyways.
Goodbye Northshire Cleric, I will miss you. Blizzard hates cost 1 snowball minions.
Holy Smite and Power Word: Shield I consider them a nerf
Holy Smite is tolerable as removal, but PW:S is just straight-up dead. The card draw was the only thing that made it playable.
Power Infusion is straight up a cheaper Power Word: Tentacles.
Is it worth to craft golden Prophet velen if i dont have him?
Yes
It doesnt make people buy more packs though.. If you have the Priest cards crafted, then with the dust refund you'd be able to craft the new Priest cards for free.
So when classic set dont have playable card anymore (not now but in future in this rate) if you want to play meta decks you need to buy packs to get all new cards that they make so powerful so those will be meta cards. This game hasnt be in long time f2p friendly.
New cards will always be powerful in any card game. The change also includes that you cannot draw duplicates out of packs if you have 2 copies of a card already. That means that after roughly 40-50 packs you are GUARANTEED to possess every card of that expansion.....Classic also GETS cards every rotation as will demon hunter next year. And they wouldnt have to refund the full dust for anything.....the cards that go to HoF were exactly what ppl cried for the last year....if any, then they are extremely friendly to hearthstone players.
Blizz is only doing this to push people to buy more packs. I don't mind that necessarily, but the fact that they started out saying that moving cards to HoF was to remove way too often played cards that were super powerful and that they didn't like doing it often and then move more and more and less and less often played mediocre cards to HoF makes it obvious they just want to take away more cards from standard to push people to buy more new cards.
If they'd just SAY that and be honest I'd be cool with it, but them pretending it has anything to do with class identity or balance is pretty annoying when a ton of the cards they remove now are class-defining and have been since the inception of the game.
Aaah, finally Spellbreaker is removed, I can't even recall how many frustrated games I lost due to this OP card, nearly got me to quit Hearthstone.
*laughs in Ironbeak Owl*
Blizzard operation hof every playable neutral card continue, im not fan of these neutral card changes.
Then don't play the game, easy.
