Descent of Dragons Meta Decks - High Legend Decks Edition
We typically showcase a collection of decks here that generally do well on ladder, but we have switched it up a little this week and bringing you some of the decks being played at the tops of the Legend ranks. There are obviously dozens of players and dozens of decks, so it's impossible to give a real overview here in just the handful of decks we have room for in each article.
We did try to find a nice spread of decks, with hopefully something for everybody. One thing we can say at the outset is that the tops of the Legend ranks has something that most of the rest of the ladder does not have: Mage decks. Our method for this article was to go through the top of the Ranked ladder list found here and try to associate decks with these players. This is what we found:
Bunnyhoppor
Highly ranked in both EU and Americas, this is Bunnyhoppor's Highlander Galakrond Rogue.

Bloodyface
We found Grandmaster Bloodyface playing both a Quest Druid and a Highlander Hunter deck high on the Americas ladder. He had far more success with the Hunter list though.

Well said. Your answer was helpful. I didn't think of all lf those potentials
It's been that way for a while... You actually get other class cards off Pharaoh Cat, Dragon's Hoard, one of the many Draconic Lackeyor Ethereal Lackey cards you play, or even Dragonqueen Alexstrasza if you draw it later in the game... There are pleanty of opportunities to pull cards from other classes
What is the purpose of Escaped Manasaber ? Is it really that valuable that you can't replace it with anything else.
It seems to often be used as a decently statted body that will help you cheat out a card you want played a turn earlier. Targets are Luna's Pocket Galaxy and Dragonqueen Alexstrasza, for instance. Getting your Alex out a turn before your opponent can often be game winning.
Basically any card that you would save the coin for or any situation you would save the coin for, is what players are using Escaped Manasaber for.
you are too good for this game
You said it best yourself..."Front rank 10-5". Do you realize how many horrible players there are at that rank? You can use the best decks available but if you suck then you'll still lose.
The highlander rogue list is weird...
Underbelly and Vendetta with a single card to generate another class card and M.A.Y.B.E get one from the cat? Really? How often the Underbelly will be a crocodile and the Vendetta a terrible Eviscerate?
I got the feeling watching some of these players on stream that at this end of the ladder they might already be somewhat trying out cards and combinations for the upcoming Masters Tour event. It's less than 2 weeks away so that makes sense.
Meh it's Highlander. The whole purpose of playing any Highlander deck is to slap something together and pray for the high rolls.
3 rogue decks but no Priest or Warlock decks and still Blizzard does no balance patches for the lesser classes.
That's just something I won't ever be able to understand. Why does blizzard not buff cards for the lesser classes?
Don't they want each single class to be able to compete in the top meta?
Blizzard balances for the entirety of Hearthstone, not just the top players in the world. While Rogue may seem to be dominant at the very highest level, HSReplay has it at #4 overall with a less than 50% winrate.
I climbed this month from r10 5* up to r5 2* with resurrect priest, losing only 1 game and litterally eating alive most of the listed decks.
There will never be a time where all classes are equal power levels. There will always be a top of the meta and a bottom. Blizzard can't predict how players will use cards and what strategies they come out with 100%. As with any card game metas are constantly shifting. I wouldn't say Warlock and Priest have weak cards necessarily, it's just that their gameplans are countered by the popular decks in the meta. HOF rotation is right around the corner and we have a new year starting soon. That will change everything.
