Descent of Dragons Meta Decks - From Official Data
We posted last week about a message from Dean "IskarHS" Ayala on the official forums where he mentioned which decks were dominating the meta in the top 1% of players. We have taken most of the archetypes mentioned in that article and are presenting them here with a deck.
We are listing them according to how many times they were mentioned in the article:
- Galakrond Warrior - 4
- Quest Hunter - 3
- Highlander Hunter - 3
- Mech Paladin - 3
- Rez Priest - 2
- Galakrond Rogue - 1
- Quest Druid - 1
- Dragon Hunter - 1
There was also a mention of Aggro Shaman, Combo Priest and Aggro Warrior, but it's unclear what those decks might have looked like, so we will refrain from guessing and presenting decks here that might not be at all alike to what Blizzard saw in their data.
And now, without further ado, the decks:
Galakrond Warrior

Such a liar
The benefit would become ALMOST useless. But with ways of cheating out the cards (Strength in Numbers) there would still be an upside. Not enough to make the card still playable probably, but it wouldn't be worthless.
Then it sounds like your problem is with Strength in Numbers.
I don't have an issue with either of those two cards. But if I had to decide which of them is the more important one for the deck, Strength in Numbers would be the one I'd choose.
Looking at the data for the Deck at HSReplay, the real culprit seems to be Breath of dreams, though. That card has a Mulligan Winrate of 68.7%, whereas Strength in Numbers is at 60.7 and Embiggen at 60.5. Drawn winrate is 59.8/58.3/57.7, so even there Breath of Dreams is the best card in the deck.
Pretty bummed that dragons and highlander decks suck so bad competitively (except in hunter which can play anything and be good) when they looked to be a big focus of the expansion pre-release.
I came back to the game and preordered for the first time expecting to see dragons played in this dragon expansion but what do we get that's playable? Mana cheats, aggro, and face damage...again.
Blizzards logic: Hmmm priest, hunter and rogue seem too much play....we need nerf shaman more, let galagrond summon one 5/5 with rush as the final invoke to make the aggro decks much more suttle, also we need to nerf earthquake because than priest becomes less powerful with board clears, just make earthquake do 2 damage first and than 1 damage, and finally rogue, make shudderwock play only 2 battlecries, by doing this, we make rogue have less value.
The aftermath shows us one thing:Leeroy needs to be Hall of Famed.
I don't understand how it has lasted so long. Malygos too.
Shaman started a very good season and was totally annihilated by nerfs. In the meanwhile hunter remains untouched and can play 4 different archetypes. Yes 4 because face hunter is not mentioned here but it is a thing.
Two words from me that could work... Rush cards. And maybe hall of fame Unleash the Hounds. Why Unleash? Well the card is strong and used since the dawn of hearthstone and as all know Charge is stupidly strong even for 1/1 and you can get a full board of them for (3). And Enbiggen should raise the cost of your minions with (2).
The point of embiggen is it gives +2/2 for a 1 mana increase, which is above the curve for stats. (1 mana is worth 1/1 normally).
If it increased cost by 2 the card would be worthless since you give up a card to get no real benefit.
Playing every day since day 1, any other questions?
that hunter dont need phase stalker and subject9 with 2 secrets, only stalker i think...
that highlander hunter actually has 5 secrets (snake, rat, snipe, explosive, freezing) and because it’s singleton redundancy in effects are generally good.
Few viable builds for Rogue, three Druid builds, at least two viable Warlock builds and Gala Warrior which wrecks Hunters so ez. What're you talking about?
Typical cry-boi.
He is right. Have you played HS before?
This meta is garbage. Why is blizzard so bad at balancing this game?
Rogue list is lovely <3 amazing job
Don't wanna be that guy but RANKED PLAY is SO BORING right now. Every game feels the same and it's just a coinflip like you win or you lose and you know it the moment you see your opponents class. No strategy whatsoever. Never have I wanted a rotation this badly.
