Descent of Dragons Meta Decks - From Official Data
We posted last week about a message from Dean "IskarHS" Ayala on the official forums where he mentioned which decks were dominating the meta in the top 1% of players. We have taken most of the archetypes mentioned in that article and are presenting them here with a deck.
We are listing them according to how many times they were mentioned in the article:
- Galakrond Warrior - 4
- Quest Hunter - 3
- Highlander Hunter - 3
- Mech Paladin - 3
- Rez Priest - 2
- Galakrond Rogue - 1
- Quest Druid - 1
- Dragon Hunter - 1
There was also a mention of Aggro Shaman, Combo Priest and Aggro Warrior, but it's unclear what those decks might have looked like, so we will refrain from guessing and presenting decks here that might not be at all alike to what Blizzard saw in their data.
And now, without further ado, the decks:

Same as it always was. Meta gets set and it's the same decks again and again. Now is no different than how it has always been and just a part of a CCG.
Why I move over to Wild when it gets like this at least there you get a larger selection of decks to play against, for the most part. Still has the overly popular ones but at least there is more variety when the standard meta gets as it is now.
I fully agree with you. You know what cards are going to be played and when they are going to be played that it becomes laughable at how predictable the matches are.
Good news is that in two months we rotate expansions out and get a new one.
Same feeling and it's even worse as value decks are completely broken, sometimes it really feels like I'm playing a beginners f2p deck against a p2w wild deck with how ridiculous cards are.
Free 3/3, free dragons, draw more, reborn minions, etc. sooooo boring.
Good job nerfing shaman, its so shitty now, that its not even on the list lol
it makes me so happy, i hate shaman with a passion
In this case 35 life is better, otherwise the 1 mana warrior removal will be broken as hell.
I agree 30 life is much less than should in a game with so many direct damage spells and all the possible broken combinations with Leeroy.
One great solution is HoF everything can damage players directly, make all damage spells only can target minions and turn all charges into rush, after that 30 life is good enough.
Hunter got the best basic card this expansion and aggro is the this years hit song it seems.
It may be anoying to play against but its clearly working
Yes. The issue is there are five Hunter archetypes in the top 10 where as other classes barely have one viable build.
That Res Priest list is...garbage, mildly put.
Indeed. That is a VERY strange list.
Dead Ringer? Coffin Crasher? Shadowy Figure? Spirit of the Dead? You DON'T want to Rez those!
When comparing this deck to the most common variant of Rez Priest I could find, it is missing 10 cards. That is almost a completely different deck.
That Res Priest list is...garbage, mildly put.
Hunter needs a nerf it seems.
Hunter is indeed pretty strong right now. What to nerf though? There is surprisingly little overlap between the two decklists here.
I think the secret problem is Springpaw and Desert Spears. They seem innocuous but it's broken in a class with access to Faceless Corruptor and Veranus. They can't exactly be nerfed though without rendering each useless.
A broken card that CAN be nerfed on the other hand is Phase Stalker. It's in every Hunter deck except quest Hunter, and it's outrageously strong. Make it a 2/2.
Only thing in common is facedamage, so heroes should start with 30 + 5 armor = Hunter Nerf
Hero Cards also have Armor and to be honest, which hero enters a battle naked! ;)
