Friday Fun Decks Week 1

Friday Fun Decks

What's better than after a long week of grinding things out at work, school or Ranked Ladder to kick back and relax with some Friday Fun Decks going into the weekend?

Well, we brought you a selection of decks to do just that. There's some standard decks, some wild decks, but most of all these are decks with interesting cards that haven't seen much use, Archetypes that have been forced out by better competition in the same class and combos that are often too unreliable to see play on the Ranked Ladder, but they are FUN. Truth be told though; not everyone's idea of fun will be the same, so we cast a wide net and hopefully brought something for everyone.

A special Descent of Dragons launch week Edition! We are featuring decks that include some of the fun new cards of Descent of Dragons, which meant we had to break one of our usual ground rules (we only feature 1 deck for each class for 7 classes) in this case to make sure we could bring you the most fun decks we saw. Back to the usual 1 deck for 7 classes rule next week!

Let's dive in!

Budget OTK Priest

A new expansion, a new season of Friday Fun Decks! We're starting things off with this Standard Budget OTK Priest featuring the new Descent of Dragons card Fate Weaver.

You use it to discount Leeroy, Holy Smite and the also new Descent of Dragons card Grave Rune. The result? 5x Leeroy Jenkins to the face! We fully expect Face Weaver, excuse me, Fate Weaver to enable more OTK decks, which we will obviously cover in the Friday Fun Decks!

Embiggen Dragon Druid

Someone on the Hearthstone Dev Team looked at the theme of the expansion and thought to themselves "Dragons. You know what would be cool? What if we made them EVEN BIGGER. Genius plan right? Right?!" Then someone on the Balance Team came around and said they had to make the new bigger minions cost more too.

At least that's how I imagine the development process of Embiggen roughly went. The result is that with some deft deckbuilding and some help from Frizz Kindleroost you can have a deck full of HUGE dragons at a normal cost and really live out that draconic destruction dream. Check it out in this Standard deck!

Shu'ma Quest Rogue

When Shu'ma was first introduced, it was quickly dismissed. Bad Card. Meme. Well, that's the kind of card that eventually ends up in a deck that makes it work in some fun way, and if it's fun, it usually ends up on this page.

With this Wild deck we didn't have to wait long for someone to put 2 and 2 together and realize that if you have a quest reward from The Caverns Below that turns every minion into a 4/4, that having a card that turns out a board full of tokens turn after turn is probably a good inclusion.

Dread Raven OTK

If there's a combo of cards that does something cool in Hearthstone, you can usually find community member MarkMcKz at the forefront making videos about it or streaming their use. He linked a video of game play of this deck in his deck description!

In this case, it's the strangely Neutral card Dread Raven. There's probably going to be more ways to turn this into an OTK during this expansion, but let's start with this obvious Standard Hunter deck one. Tundra Rhino as the enabler to make the Ravens go and Scarlet Webweaver as the cost reduction you need.

Highlander Control Paladin

Descent of Dragons is all about the Dragons of course, but one of those Dragons is a bit of a cheeky rulebreaker. In his original form he reduced the turn timer to just the rope timer and in his new one he gives both players 10 mana crystals and the person playing him a 4 mana 8/8 Dragon. We are talking about Nozdormu and Nozdormu the Timeless respectively of course

And that's not even the end of it. In some as of yet unknown future Nozdormu is going to turn evil and become the leader of the Infinite Dragonflight who have nefarious schemes to change the time lines to some unknown terrible future. Nozdormu will at that point also change his name, to Murozond the Infinite, another one of the Descent of Dragons legendaries!

With no cross class cards allowed this Standard deck only features Nozdormu the Timeless of course!

Transmogrifier Mage

When we first saw Transmogrifier, we knew we had a special fun card on our hands. Usually effects like this are locked behind expensive legendaries that you have to hope you live long enough to play them. Not with this card! You can play this card turn 2, and provided you protect it, you can got a ton of fun out of it early on.

The Standard deck to house this card in this case is an Elemental Mage archetype, with plenty of draw. Special feature is this new Descent of Dragons sidequest card Elemental Allies, which on completion draws 3 spells, which will immediately get turned into Legendary minions through Transmogrifier. Fun times!

Waxadred Rogue

For our last deck we bring you this Standard Rogue deck, featuring the new Descent of Dragons Rogue legendary Dragon Waxadred. The deck creator has a video in the description if you want to see gameplay!

This deck gives you all the usual Rogue Shenanigans. Plenty of card bouncing, duplication and drawing to get a board full of Waxadred's but in a robust Tempo Rogue shell to make sure that this is not JUST a fun deck, but one that will leave your opponent in the dust too!

That's it for this "Friday Fun Decks", hope you find these decks as fun and interesting as we did when we put this list together. If not, why not post your idea of a fun deck in the comments, for future inspiration to us and the rest of the community!

Cheers and have a good Weekend!
