Blizzard just told us more about Evolve mechanic changes, that were forgotten in the latest 16.0 patch
- You can now Devolve 0 mana minions into new ones.
- You can now Evolve 10+ mana minions into the same mana-cost minions.
You might be asking, but is that even good? What does It change?
- You are now able to re-roll (0) mana "12/12" Frog or magnetized Target Dummy with Devolve into other (0) mana cards.
- You are now able to re-roll Giants into fresh copies. In other words, you'll "Heal" your Giants and remove any Buffs/Debuffs from them.
- You are now able to play Shirvallah, the Tiger, Rush (trade) and Heal for 7 HP, re-roll into a new, fresh copy of Shirvallah, the Tiger and you can Rush (trade) again and Heal for another 7 HP! (Divine Shield will be refreshed too with the re-roll!)
- You are now able to remove Taunt from 10+ mana (or 0 mana) minions with Devolve (mainly giants and buffed Frog/Target Dummy).
These are the cards we are talking about:
Quote from BlizzardCards that “transform a minion into a random one that cost (1) more/less”, like Evolve or Devolve, will now always re-roll the minion, even if no minion exists in the target-cost minion pool. The minion will be re-rolled at the nearest possible cost.
Examples:
- When you Devolve a Target Dummy, because there is no negative-cost minion, it will transform into a random 0-cost minion.
- When you Evolve a Shirvallah, the Tiger, because there is no 26-cost minion or another 25-cost minion, it will transform into a new Shirvallah, the Tiger.
is it me or did they remove the card from the game?
I can't seem to find it through a search, and can't craft it

0 mana minion after Embiggen, now can be devolved
no offense, but even shamans deserve to lose, no matter how. lol
evolve is stupid enough. why would they take away the counter play of magnetizing or buffing 0 mana cards? catering to one of the dumbest mechanics in the game just isn't right
What about the evolve lackey?
and Recombobulator !
Recombobulator neither evolves nor devolves minions.

just one of the Wisp decks that used to be in the game. FYI.
or Firebats more recent deck using Wisp

he apparently reached high legend in May with the Rogue Wisp deck!!
That deck by firebat was clearly subpar and just a worse version of standard tempo rogue. It worked not because of wisp, but because raiding party+waggle pick+pirates was an overpowered combo at the time.
While I don't know much about the old meta that the first deck (which appears to be a token druid deck) was in, I can say for certain that it was obviously either made at a time when cards were far lower power level or was definitely not top tier. Cards like Spawn of N'Zoth, Master Swordsmith, and Onyxia, none of which, to my knowledge, have seen play in a good deck for years (and yet are still in that decklist) are proof.
Finally, I was sick of being beaten by frogs with taunt and the stats of deathwing.
Post Patch Notes: Fixed minor spelling errors, successfully driving away grammar nazis.

Good post, something new learnt, thanks :)
The Devolve buff to 0 cost targets would be very useful when Sn1plock was viable. I lost many games with my even shaman when they decided to include Target Dummy in that deck.
Anyway, good riddance!!
Formula for stats to Mana cost is (Attack+Health-1)/2.
So 0/1 is exactly worth 0 Mana.
1/1 and 0/2 Zero cost minions are powercreep. They are all worth 0.5 Mana rounded down, like 1/3s are at 1 Mana and Upgradeable Framebot is at 2(compare Am'gam Rager). This is possible because half Mana crystals don't exist.
Note that Murloc Tinyfin is even played in Wild, because it is indeed a powerful card.
The coin, Innervate and Counterfeit Coin are all likely also 0.5 Mana rounded down. That means your idea is possible as a Battle cry, but there is no need to invent -1 cost minions.
0 Mana 0/1 Battlecry: Gain 1 Mana this turn only is certainly possible by the parameters of Hearthstone.
Disagree. Formula should be (Attack + Health)/2 = Number of mana crystals used + number of cards used.
In addition, 1 dmg = 1/1 stats = 1 card = 1 mana.
Evidence: Moonfire, Wisp, Counterfeit Coin.
Murloc Tinyfin is only good because of the murloc tag, which adds on about .5/1 mana of value. The right comparison to make is to Wisp, which is perfectly fair (which means that it has never seen play, ever.)
But you can't just change the formula. A lot of things stop making sense then.
? what do you mean?
If you're referring to the murloc tag, that doesn't change the formula at all. That's just another factor - like battlecries or deathrattles. Adding value from a tag doesn't make anything stop making sense - it make things START making sense.
Or are you telling me that the reason wisp doesn't see play and murloc tinyfin does is just a pure coincidence?
They should start creating negative manacost minions...
like for example -1 mana, 0/1 minion...
playing a negative cost minion adds 1 mana crystal to use that turn. (basically a coin with body)
Didnt that sht back into wild yet?
I don't like this. There were lots of interesting plays and misplays because of the old mechanic of evolve. It made the game more interesting. Now it'll be just stupid
I'd still like an explanations on why they thought it was okay to return evolve to standard and leave it there to fester for a month and a half.
