1 mana 4/4 beast with rush. Yea...this is made just for the Hunter's quest. May be a bit better than it looks, has tons of synergy.
It's decent but nothing interesting
Seems better than the other one, but I really don't think these sidequests are going to catch on when they're so slow. Learn Draconic looks the most promising so far because it doesn't require you to warp your deck around it to accommodate it. Any good mage deck that could exist next expac will be casting a lot of spells because that's what mage does, so no matter what you do, you're eventually getting a 6/6. This one, Secure the Deck and Toxic Reinforcements require you to play around them, if not build around them, so their effect is nowhere near as passively threatening or guaranteed. If each hero class is really getting two of these, I hope that the ones we haven't seen yet are more like Learn Draconic, where the effect is essentikally guaranteed to eventually go off and not more stuff that requires you to actually play and build around a one cost spell that you might not even draw.
This is cool and a little better than Toxic Reinforcements. If it's going to find a spot in a deck is another story though.
To paraphrase Chuck D:
Clear the way,
Clear the way,
Clear the way, clear the way for the Gryphons with Rush!
So, Just to understand, does this mean 2 out of the 10 class cards will be side quests?!? Judging by the first ones revealed seems like they will be kinda irrelevant. So thumbs down for me atm.
Desert spear approves.
What happens when you play Swarm of Locusts?
I would imagine the same as finishing an Un'goro Quest with 10 cards in your hand, but it's possible that the Gryphon gets summoned before the remaining Locusts are.
Don't quests complete within a turn/spell/summons though? Wouldn't it count the three first ones than summon the 4/4 and than summon the rest of the locusts?
I mean it's the same with other quests why would this one differ.
because its not a dragon duh
When you play N'Zoth with Awaken the Makers out, he pauses summoning minions to provide the quest reward, then finishes his effect. You may get the 4/4 before the rest of the Locusts spawn if this interaction functions similarly.
Side quest activates after you summon 3, so it could be possible that it would summon 3 locusts, activate the completed sidequest, and then fill in the 3 remaining board pieces with Locusts. It would be Symmetrical if you had an empty board.
Not sure if this is better or worse than Toxic Reinforcements. It's generally more impactful, less clunky, but also more difficult to complete. It's worth mentioning that you only need to summon minions with Rush. Maybe it could be used in decks with Zul'jin, who likes Unleash the Beast and Dire Frenzy already anyway, possibly re-playing and re-completing the sidequest during his battlecry.
Still, I'm not really sold on it.
Considering how much access hunters have to cheap rush minions, I think this'll be very easy to complete actually...
Springpaw is probably the big one, but beast decks can also run: Hunting Mastiff Halazzi, the Lynx, Hench-Clan Hogsteed, Vicious Scalehide, Amani War Bear, Oondasta, Zilliax, Bug Collector, and/or Desert Spear .
There are also quite a few rush mechs, and one of the Galakrond invoke minions has rush, if Galakrond ends up being good.
It could also trigger off of Revenge of the Wild, Swarm of Locusts(if this works? It fills the board, so it might block the quest minion), and [card]Unleash the Beast[/card]; also any of the beast duplicating cards could add more to your hand.
It's just a 1 mana 4/4 rush if you're running a somewhat decent number of rush minions, which most hunter decks already do.
Seems pretty strong actually; I think it's almost certainly better than toxic reinforcements, since you can activate it on the same turn you play it pretty easily. Perhaps an ideal situation would be playing this turn 1, Springpaw + Lynx on 2, and desert spear on 3 to activate it.
is there any room for this?
The sidequest are going to suck so bad... It is basically a 1 mana 4/4 with wait 2 turn before you can play this... You cannot afford to put a weak card in deck.
Sidequests don't start in your hand. They are flexible in when you play them. Plus, this triggers on Summon so it works on the 6 mana twinspell which summons a 5/5 rush wyvern or any other card which summons multiple rush minions.
How does it work exactly? Do the locusts finish spawning before completing quest or after? I think they get summoned, complete your quest and summon nothing.
looks good, there are some good rush cards to play with it: spring paw, hench clan hogsteed, vicious scalehide, unleash the beast, desert spear, zilliax. Probably will see play in a midrange deck
