Deck Digest v.1 - Murlocalypse

 Introduction

Welcome to Deck Digest - a monthly article of thematic decks for each of Hearthstone's 9 classes. Each month we will pick a theme and create decks for each class.

As you will see in each installment, creating a similarly themed deck across all the different classes can prove challenging. So, please keep in mind that while some decks may end up being competitive, others may be strictly for the memes. Ultimately we're out to have a good time with some outlandish off-meta choices. We hope you enjoy! Feel free to comment below with any input on the decks included, or what you'd like to see featured in the next episode.

Deck Digest kicks off with a bang (or a Mrgll) as HearthPwn's resident Murloc expert presents: Murlocalypse!

Druid

Our Druid variant aims to gain early board control with Murloc synergies. Our win condition is to snowball our Murlocs by using Druid's powerful AOE buff spells such as Power of the Wild, Blessing of the Ancients, and Savage Roar. We've added Nourish for late game refill and Floop's Glorious Gloop for a potential board clear and mana reload.

Hunter

As always, we're looking to get off to a fast start with Murloc Hunter. Curve early Murlocs into our aggressive cards such as: Animal Companion, Eaglehorn Bow, and Kill Command. Weaving in our Hero Power is key, but if we can't finish it off early we've included some late game cards such as The Curator, King Krush, and Call of the Wild.

Mage

Chipping in early minion damage with your swarm of Murlocs is key before transitioning to your mid-to-late game. Our Mage deck features Sorcerer's Apprentice, Flamewaker, and familiar spells such as Arcane Missiles, Frostbolt, and Fireball to hopefully go over the top and finish your opponent.

Paladin

One of the more powerful decks featured in our list, "Tip the Scales" Paladin relies on a powerful combo to overwhelm your opponent. With only 4 spells in the deck, your goal is to hard mulligan for Prismatic Lens. Drop it on turn 4 (or turn 3) and hope to switch your 8-cost Tip the Scales to a much lower cost. The deck generally empties very quickly, enabling Zephrys the Great and Chef Nomi as finishers when needed.

Priest

Bwonsamdi, the Dead and Spirit of the Dead highlight our Murloc Priest. An early curve of minions and the ability to shuffle and then draw many from your deck allows for repeated waves of Murlocs. Magic Carpet gives you the ability to buff your onslaught of 1-drops. Silence and Mass Dispel are include to make the final push through Taunt or Deathrattle minions.

Rogue

Our version of Aggro Rogue containing weapons, charge minions, and of course...Murlocs! Myra's Unstable Element allows you to draw into burn in the late game. The combination of Waggle Pick and Leeroy Jenkins can provide a large amount of burst. A single copy of Shadowstep gives you another way to take down your opponent with a double Leeroy.

Shaman

The strongest deck on our list is likely also the most straight forward. With a whopping 26 minions, you'll rely heavily on curving out and Murloc synergies. Soul of the Murloc will hopefully allow you to stick a large board so you can drop a Bloodlust and smack your opponent for critical amounts of damage.

Warlock

A Murloc heavy version of Zoo Warlock. Your plan is pretty straight forward, play Murlocs and use Warlock's over-powered Hero Power to quickly draw through your deck. The Soularium can provide you with a quick refill being that all your cards are so cheap. Grim Rally can be a nice buff when played on a large board.

Warrior

Our final deck was possibly the most difficult to build. We finally settled on a modified version of Aggro Warrior featuring our fish-flinging friends. Your goal is the same as a more traditional version of the deck (though a bit less consistent); stick minions, buff them with cards like Inner Rage and Rampage, and then create copies with Bloodsworn Mercenary. Good luck.
