Hearthstone What's Next Panel - Card List
Join us as we watch the What's Next Panel and deliver all the information revealed there! Find the cards from the Opening Ceremony and the cards likely to be revealed during this panel listed down below, including links to discussion threads on the forum!
- We are welcomed by Liv Breeden!
- We started the year with the league of E.V.I.L. and the heist of Dalaran and then followed the League unleashing the Plagues in Uldum, before taking the Plague of Undeath and "running away" because the Explorers League came to kick their ass!
- Galakrond is a new Hero Card for each E.V.I.L. Class.
- After playing Invoke cards he upgrades, doubling his Battlecry.
- With the Final upgrade he also equips a 5/2 Claw weapon.
- Invoke also does something different on each class, like add a random Minion or some Imps when played
- All 5 Galakronds will be given for free for logging during the new expansion.
- The Explorers League has a different mechanic: Sidequests
- Sidequests do NOT start in your hand.
- Flexible and fit into more than 1 deck archetype.
- Dragon Explorer cards all have Discover a Dragon and are Unique to their class.
- Helps with the "Dragon in Hand" mechanic
- Malygos has a Discover mechanic that upgrades the cards you Discover.
- The league of E.V.I.L. has Deathwing, an 8 mana 12/12.
- The audience now gets to choose which League gets another card reveal by screaming really loudly.
- Every Class gets Dragons, but they still push the Classes in different directions.
- Dragon Breath cards are cards with a base effect, but an extra effect when you hold a Dragon.
Battlegrounds
- 8 player, free for all. Totally new game mode!
- New button on the menu "Modes"
- You start by choosing 1 of 3 heroes, each has their own Unique Hero Power
- Then a Recruit phase, where you build your selection of minions.
- And lastly a Fight phase, where minions fight from left to right in order.
- Keep rotating between these last 2 phases.
- Can also Upgrade your tavern by Cheering instead of picking a minion in the Recruit phase. This allows for the selection of more powerful minions later.
- Ability to Freeze a choice in minions until the next round when you have more gold.
- When you get 3x the same minion it upgrades into a more powerful Golden Minion.
- Started to make Battlegrounds 6 months ago, in a desire to combine Hearthstone and Autochess games.
- Ton of work to make the game be able to handle 8 players at once. Kudos to the Engineers!
- In the Tavern the upgrade level goes to level 6
- In the combat phase, players are ranked by health remaining and it has details about their deck, what their Tavern Cheer level is etc. etc.
- The Combat phase also has special emotes you can use!
- Closed Beta starts 5th of November. Open Beta Nov 12th. All free to play!
- With more Packs of Descent of Dragons you get access to more stuff in the Beta. Can buy packs in preorder!
- New Heroes in the game, like Karl.
- Buffs in the Recruit Phase stay on the minions forever, unless you sell it. Combat Phase buffs last only during that combat.
- Unique minions to the Battlegrounds too, with unique synergies.
- Can look up all the unique minions and heroes on: The official Site

Paladin got a 4 mana 8/8 Dragon...
Invoke cards seem initially mostly kinda weak. Nerfed Blessing of Might or Magma Rager? Payoff might be worth it, but it's hard to say. In some ways, these remind me of Inspire, which kinda looked pre-nerfed. Maybe the payoff was so good the Invokes needed to be weak, maybe the whole thing is just underwhelming.
You know that if you have Galakrond in your deck then when you play Invoke card you're triggering his hero power? Even if he's still in your deck,
Thay makes them quite strong imo
Remember Invoking Galakrond also triggers his power for that class. In Warlock it will summon 2 Imps every time you Invoke.
Damn so boring 'Invoke galadrond'... and what if i dont want to play with galakrond? I cant play this expansion or what?
Learning invoke isnt just a do nothing when played effect makes all the invoke cards much better.
Rogue is add a lackey. Which is pretty good.
Now lets see what the rest do.
The first half of "Whats next" segment introducing the new card set and mechanics was cringy af and they didn't do a good job explaining the mechanics.
can this card list be updated please? thx
We will have a dedicated Card List going up in the near future, which will be linked on the site for easy access, so you do not have to go back to old news articles. :)
We will need some time though to set it all up, especially cause we did not expect THIS. MANY. CARDS. >.<
nicely artworks
My god that presenter on the left is trying too hard... trying hard to be Ben Brode 2.0
EVIL Classes, Galakrond Heroe cards for all 5
League of explorers, Sidequests
So Basicaly, Reno, Elise, Finnley and Brann are screwed (sadly for me :( )
this presentation is so hard to listen to
I don't know why all hearthstone announcement stuff is written like only 8 year old play the game. Its a room full of adults but they are taking like they are reading a child a bedtime story
I don't get it either. Is HS played by children 90% these days since they cater so much to children?
