Friday Fun Decks - Week 9

Friday Fun Decks

What's better than after a long week of grinding things out at work, school or Ranked Ladder to kick back and relax with some Friday Fun Decks going into the weekend?

Well, we brought you a selection of decks to do just that. There's some standard decks, some wild decks, but most of all these are decks with interesting cards that haven't seen much use, Archetypes that have been forced out by better competition in the same class and combos that are often too unreliable to see play on the Ranked Ladder, but they are FUN. Truth be told though not everyone's idea of fun will be the same, so we cast a wide net and hopefully brought something for everyone.

Let's dive in!

Overload Shaman

We have mentioned plenty of times that we enjoy cheap fun, and it's even better when cheap fun is also good fun. This Standard deck is just that.

Clocking in just over 3k total dust cost, there's a good chance that you have many of the cards in this deck already and can, on a budget, try out a Shaman archetype that gets dwarfed by Murloc Shaman in popularity, but is still really good.

C'thun Highlander Rogue

It's been several years, yet the Old Gods are still popular build arounds. Which is probably the reason Blizzard announced that at least N'Zoth, the Corruptor is going to make a temporary return to Standard, and who knows maybe others too.

This Wild deck combines Thief Rogue cards with C'Thun Rogue. With the Wild cards coming back for a while, this kind of new and unusual combination might be one of many new things we see. Exciting!

Odd Brann Hunter

Too often the reaction to decks is "Why would you do that?!" when the far better question is "Why would I not?". If something seems like a good and fun idea, we should try it. You never know where it might lead!

In this case someone had the idea to combine the aggressive Odd Hunter with it's 3 damage Hero Power with the Highlander concept, presumably to get the excellent Dinotamer Brann finisher in the deck, and it's lead to a very fun Wild deck.

Quest Obelisk Druid

In the first few weeks after the expansion launched plenty of people played with cards like Mogu Cultist and Desert Obelisk but after finding out the obvious (the cards are hard to win consistently with) they moved on.

This Standard proves that some people kept experimenting though and found a way to potentially make a little used card work better. We salute the deck creator for continuing the innovation.

Frozen Sand Mage

Freeze mage, much like Mill decks, is one of those archetypes that is far more engaging and fun for the one playing it than it is for the one on the receiving end. Then again there's also few things as satisfying as seeing a Freeze Mage run out of answers and obliterating them. You have to take the good with the bad.

This Standard deck tries to tap dance on the edge of oblivion with it's many freezes and then use Naga Sand Witch to spray discounted Pyroblast at the enemies face to finish them. Pew pew!

Hakkar Wall Priest

Hakkar, the Soulflayer has been around for a bit and plenty of people have tried to make him work, either in a meme deck or as a serious finisher. This Standard deck is definitely of the latter category.

It's a fun deck, and the creator has left several useful comments on it for tips on how to play and has promised a more in depth guide with upvotes. So, go go go, use that upvote button (you should do this on all decks you like, regardless).

Aggro Warrior

Control Warrior, Highlander Warrior, they get all the love, and many people forget just how fun and good Aggro Warrior can be. Well, here's your reminder that it's not going anywhere and is still a blast to play.

Variations of this deck have been doing very well on ladder too, some run Arcanite Reaper and Redband Wasp instead of more control oriented cards like Zilliax but the basic theme stays the same.

That's it for this "Friday Fun Decks", hope you find these decks as fun and interesting as we did when we put this list together. If not, why not post your idea of a fun deck in the comments, for future inspiration to us and the rest of the community!

Cheers and have a good Weekend!
