Blizzard announced some huge changes to the game, including introducing 23 Wild cards back into the Standard meta, and giving those cards to everyone for FREE, more info about this change will come in a blog about a sensationally spooky event next Friday, Oct 4th. There will also be more events in the future like Fire Fest-E.V.I.L. (also announced Oct 4th) and new exclusive 1000 win portraits! Read about all this and more in the blog below.
EDIT: Blizzard responded on Reddit with a clarification about the Wild cards being brought back, and how they are sadly a temporary addition to your collection if you do not own them:
"Quick clarification! The cards that are rotating back to standard for a limited time are going to be granted as free event cards, which means they're basically new, temporary versions of the cards. Even if you already own the cards, you'll still get these event copies.
When the event ends the event copies will go away."
Quote from BlizzardWhile we’re constantly recruiting lackeys, tinkering with experimental tech, and delving into dusty tombs to bring you new Hearthstone expansions and Adventures, we’re also hard at work on some awesome, albeit less flashy, new stuff. In this blog we’ll shine a light on some of the smaller, but still exciting new features, events, and changes coming to Hearthstone in the near future.
Adding More Events
After the overwhelmingly positive response to the recent Fire Fest-E.V.I.L. event, we’re looking for more opportunities to introduce even more large-scale in-game events with rewards, themed Tavern Brawls, and changes that could temporarily (or permanently!) create fun new Hearthstone experiences for players.
We’re starting off with a new event in just a couple weeks featuring Dungeon Run-inspired Tavern Brawls, dual-class Arenas, Legendary quest rewards, and some meta-shifting changes outlined in the “Shaking up Standard Play” section below.
We’ll have more to share on this sensationally spooky event on October 4, but in the meantime . . . try not to lose your head!
Shaking up Standard Play
Now that the Saviors of Uldum Standard ladder experience has solidified, we think it’s a great time to throw a wrench or two (or twenty-three) in the gears. We’re going to be pulling some of the most popular and game-changing cards from across Hearthstone history, including Ragnaros, the Firelord and N’Zoth the Corruptor, out of Wild and dropping them back into Standard for a limited time. To ensure that everyone can participate in this meta-mixing event, we’ll be granting everyone free copies of each card (these copies cannot be disenchanted or crafted) so they can add these heavy-hitters to their decks and get them into the action.
We’ll be sharing more details (including the full list of 23 cards) in a blog update on October 4. Stay tuned!
1,000 Win Class Portraits
Looking ahead, we want to continue celebrating personal successes and milestones for all you dedicated Hearthstone players. Our next major update will introduce some really cool new portraits that you can earn by earning 1,000 wins with each class. Wins earned before this update goes live will retroactively count towards these totals. Take a look at a couple of examples below and start stacking up those wins!
Quality of Life Improvements
Alternate Search Terms
We want it to be easier to quickly find the cards you’re looking for while deckbuilding, so we’re adding alternate search terms for some hard-to-type cards. We’ll be adding common misspellings and simplified versions of leetspeak card names (found on some Mech minions). For example, searching “snip” or “snap” will now show you SN1P-SN4P. While this feature will only be enabled for a few commonly misspelled cards at first, we’ll be able to add even more alternate search terms as needed.
- This feature will also support languages other than English. For example, SN1P-SN4P in Latin American Spanish is “CL1C-CL4C”, so searching “clic” would return the expected results.
Quest Changes
While not included in our next major update, here’s a preview of some of the changes we’re making to quests a little further down the line.
- We’re cutting some of the less popular daily quests and tuning down some of their requirements to make them quicker and easier to complete. We’ll also be adding some new quests to the pool to mix things up!
- We split most daily quests into two buckets: Easy (50g) and Slightly More Difficult (60g). Rerolling a Slightly More Difficult (60g) quest (like Play 10 Beasts) always gives you an Easy (50g) quest, so players can be guaranteed to get an Easy quest every day if they want. We love Murlocs and Pirates as much as anyone, but it should be your choice if you decide to complete their quests.
We’re excited to be bringing these new features, events, and other changes to Hearthstone soon. Please let us know what you think on social media or the official Hearthstone forums. Until then, we’ll see you in the Tavern!
jainas face looks terrible, like a granny really
the new wow one is great but they failed here
her chinese version chest is even worse
Is that supposed to be Jaina, cauz she is flat as a pancake now.
They sag with age
I've only got 1000+ with Anduin. Too bad I don't enjoy playing priest right now.
Second closest Thrall with ~800
I wonder if the other hero skins will get 1000 win portraits. I'd like to see a new Arthas.
Can we please have a classic mode? with only basic and classic cards :D
Well we just got Classic WoW, so I guess we will have to w8
;)
awesome suggestion, but I'm afraid this isn't Blizzard's 'make money' way
Cool things Blizzard we appriciate it, you guys listen to the community which is a big thing, cos not every company does the same,but...
Can we get more ways to play? Like there is no point to play ladder once you hit legend unless you want to qualify to a Master's Tour event, which is unlikely because you have to finish in top20 if im correct and that is fine. If someone want's to qualify, he just playing in the weekend qualifiers. Im not here to discuss qualifiers stuff, they are fine IMO.
Yeah, im playing the game because im enjoying it. But the Ladder rewards are complete thrash. 1 month to get 500 dust when you hit rank 5?
There is a few example and everyone can decide which is better for a decent HS player!
1. Example: You playing ladder. you'll end up getting 500 dust after 30 days. You complete every day your quest plus you win 6 games daily, playing until 1 win in tavern brawl.
You gonna get: 500 dust+4 classic pack which is avarage 160 Dust cos you probably have most of the cards from classic set. So this is 660 Dust. You complete every single quest which is on avarage let say 60gx30days=1800 gold. You make it every day to earn 20 gold because of the 6 win/day so that is +600 gold. Overall: 660 dust+ 2400 gold. Now you can buy packs to get more cards. 24 pack is a lot, but there is a chance that you'll end up not geting a legendary(40 pack guarantee) Let say you are lucky and you opened 100 dust disenchant value on avg. You'll end up getting 3060 dust. That's not even 2 legendary/month and the current decks are hella expensive.
2. Example: You playing ladder until you hit rank 5. Complete every daily quests, playing brawl until 1 win for the pack. You are playing every qualifier that starts first or later because you have time only play in 3 instead of 6. So you participate 12 qualifiers in a month. You are a decent player so you'll go through in the first round. You'll get 12 packs. if you go one more round deeper in every tourney where you participate you'll get 24 packs. Quick math: 500 dust for rank 5, 160 dust/4 pack for brawl, same amount of gold for quest's and dailys BUT you get +12 pack or even more just for playing COMPETITIVELY and not the ladder cos it is pointless overtime. (Sure, more time you play the better you will play with specific decks and playing against better opponents make's you stronger.)
The whole point is, why shall i play ladder if im gettin way more rewarded in qualifiers(and arena if you are good)? I've finished top200 more times at the end of the month, i've hit legend a lot of times, it is pointless and boring. I dont like Arena. I respect every Arena player cos they are the real grinders, but not everyone good at drafting.
Just make Brawliseum a PERMANENT game mode. Rotate the sets, separate 2 versions of it: wild and standard, cos i've bought gvg and every other expansions to play with, but wild ladder is the same point=UNREWARDING!
Bring back Heroic Brawl permanently or at least once a month. High risk Hight reward. I dont care if im only able to join with gold or with money. Just give me reason to collect gold and make my collection bigger, even though i have most of the cards
BO3 Ladder/brawliseum with sideboard or conquest, Tournament mode, just something new.
I like the direction, the game has a lot of potential, just make something before its too late.
I cannot wait to see new rogue portrait !!
I really looked for exactly this comment
I miss 170 wins on warrior.
I steel dont understand why people play standard.
The best way to play hearthstone is Wild
The portraits are great!!
i only need one (druid) to have 1000 victories whit everyone :)
perfect!
PLS give me Lich King hero replacement for Warrior or Paladin or even Warlock!! I will use real money in a instant!
Threat emote: "FACE NOW YOUR TRAGIC END!"
If this is true, i'd be very happy to see Thaurissan and Varian coming to standard.
Don't know if it's true or not but there is a possibility we will see if that's true in a few days
oh yeeeaaah Evolve
As a wild player, I like to see how some less played cards in wild performing in the standard. Nobody play the Curator or Varian anymore, but they are still decent cards
It looks a bit fake to me. For example Shaman set is strong, paladin set is strong, druid set is strong. But at the same time... lock, warrior and hunter set are not that great. Rogue is pretty bad as well, even If I like this two cards. Mage is good, but I would expect more to see primordial glyph. I think that they should be more balanced somehow. Neutral legendaries seems legit.
Leaks say that these are supposed to be the cards that will come back from wild. It's not 100% certain it will be those cards but there are high possibilities that the leaks are correct.
