its so easy to counter combo priest by just controlling the board. thats the issue here. feast or famine, and thats seems to be ok for the design team. sure half the time they get pull a combo off, and maybe 10% they OTK on turn 5, but, I dont find it oppressive, nor do I find murloc shaman and aggro warrior "arent that good" LOL then why are they Tier 1?
I get that some games can feel oppressive, but I dont find Priest that oppressive. I guess alot depends on the deck your using against it, cuz some decks just get wrecked by it. the whole rock paper scissors thing etc.....
Anyways, we can debate all day, but lets just agree to disagree and hope the Dev's figure something out soon!
I kind of disagree about the highroll example of turn 4-16/16 minion, becuz if we takethat away, then we have to do it for Aggro Warrior, Murloc Shaman etc...,basically anyclass that can build huge guy early. Like Rogue with their 3 mana 2/2 that snowballs some games.
Sure, HOF something , but not cuz of a highroll potential. Not good enough reason, and that would gut too many decks if we did that.
How about Priest new hero power is like the quest one, except you have to choose either Heal 2, or buff 2/2 to a minion.? That would be interesting and give Priest new avenues of play
Except Aggro warrior and murloc shaman aren't that good and certainly aren't oppressive. Combo priest IS that that good simply because it takes very little effort to pull off the combo with the absurd amounts of card draw priest has. The only downside to this is that if they make such changes priest becomes an obsolete class. Perhaps it's not the cards that are the true problem here but designs lack of foresight of priest after rotation. Not to mention their inflexibility in correcting the evergreen sets glaring issues.
Should one of those cards be put in the HoF? Yes,but they can't, simply because it's priests only win condition currently.
Giving +2/+2 to a minion would be broken as heck. Maybe you misread me and somehow figured I want to make priest even more oppressive. Extra Arms was berfed back becuase it was overpowered at 2 mana, and it was even a spell.
Saying it's a highroll shows quite clearly you haven't watched GM and how impossible it was for most decks to compete with priest, including Viper's Zoo, and Zoo in a board control deck. He simply didn't have enough creatures to deal with Kolento's 12/12 on turn 4. It happened more often than not, and 99% of people shielded their priest for that reason exactly.
Aggro Warrior or Murlock shaman go wide with weak creatures, it was always reasonable to deal with them with any wide board clear. Swipe, Explosive Trap or a couple of Warpaths clears a Murlock Shaman's board, not to mention if you just drop a few minios early like my last game as Highlander Hunter against a murlock shaman, that conceded even before I had a chance to drop the Flamestrike I got from Zephrys. If he would have dropped a huge minion at any point I'd have nothing to do against it.
I'm calling it now - either Divine Spirit or, more likely, Inner Fire will either be nerfed or moved to HoF and will plummet Priest back into obscurity. You can't call a game decided by turn 4 with a 16/16 creature on board interactive with a straight face.
I'm not thinking about High Priest Amet or Psychopomp because they are not the problem, what limits the desgin space are those 2 cards, basic and classic.
Something is deeply wrong with a class that has only ever had 2 states - Either Oppressive and incredibly not fun to play against or unplayable. The few months of Dragon Priest are the only excpetion where priest had a competitive deck that was not cancer.
Unfortunately the design team is in a bad position for such a decision. They cannot do what should have been done years ago because doing so would render priest obsolete in the game in standard. They have no other win condition in the current card pool.
The fact they have no other win condition is a problem, yes. The fact so many decks can't deal with that threat is a bigger problem. Priest hasn't been played for quite a while, holding it back for a couple more expansion while they print some good priest cards would be healthier for the game.
Unless you understand that they never want a player who is invested in a class to have no decks to build in that class. Their design philosophy is at odds with what would be good for the game. This has come up several times in HS history. the millions that play this game on phones and tablets are where they make their money and they want to keep them as happy as possible and playing/buying packs.
i think There's a mistake in the priest Deck you didn't add the totems to generate 1 cost minions since Bwonsamdi, the Dead is there.
Look like it just tool to thin your deck.
Since in has 6 cost 1 with some utillity, while you dont want to draw it later.
No mage any more
No Rogue either
