Blizzard just released a hotfix for a new card from the Saviors of Uldum expansion - Zephrys the Great!
Quote fromWe’ve recently applied a hotfix in all regions to implement the following bug fixes and adjustments:
- Fixed a bug where Zephrys the Great sometimes didn’t handle enemy Divine Shields properly.
- Fixed a bug where Zephrys the Great sometimes didn’t handle Poisonous properly.
- Fixed a bug where Zephrys the Great didn’t consider that buffing a 0-Attack minion would let it attack that turn.
- Taught Zephrys the Great how Doomsayers work.
- As a rule, we don’t plan to teach Zephrys the Great about individual card mechanics and interactions. However, we’ve made a one-time exception in this case since having less-than-perfect offerings from Zephrys the Great when trying to find an answer to a Doomsayer could cause you to lose your board or end up with no good plays for the turn.
Probably will if you spend more mana first.
Watch a TRUMP video yesterday, opponent played Zul`jin and it gave him flare following turn , as the opponent had 3 secrets in play...
He doesn't save you from empty deck
to me major problem is that it doesnt offers you mass dispel vs board of buffed/magnetized minions
Ohh, yeah. Just got a mass dispel from him
Well I encountered resurrect priest with the big oger divine taunt and stuff and I got offered mass dispell
I got a Mass Dispel from him when the opponent's board was full of deathrattle minions
What about silencing your own frozen minions for lethal?
My standard Zephrys/Brann Face Hunter is the best deck I've ever created. I know it isn't even fully refined. Zephrys is crazy good and being able to tutor it with Sandbinder is amazing.
Not a fan of that. It's understandable, though. Whatever mechanic we might expect to see in near or far future, Blizzard would always have to have Zephrys in mind. That could potentially either limit design space, or work/time that they could use better. Still think they could make it the Deathstalker Rexxar way.
I think Zephrys should know all about Basic or Classic cards and mechanics. As for expansions, not so much. I can understand not patching or upgrading Zephrys every time new cards are added to the pool.
I knew it!
i'm pretty sure he will become a staple in wild highlander decks. it is the most fun card i've ever played, i crafted it instantly and no regrets.
So i guess if there is a doomsayer on board Zephrys will offer you a Crazed Alchemist
Or silence, as It's cheaper. But not sure.
Topsy Turvy should be the offer if its unbuffed. Having a useless body around isn't actually useless (ie. Deadly Shot).
Topsy Turvy is not from the Basic or Classic card set, so he can't offer it.
is it worth crafting?
It seems good, but not a staple in decks yet. If you're missing it to complete a deck yeah it's worth the craft.
Yes and no. The first question is whether or not you can do a Highlander deck. Going without the Highlanders this expansion is in general fine. Zephrys the Great will do well in general, but is tailored to Standard format solutions.
In Wild, the solution will always be from the Standard pool, and certain mechanics counters have finicky algorithims. For example, secrets in play will prompt him to offer SI:7 Infiltrator instead of Eater of Secrets or Flare.
My advice is this, can you make a Highlander deck that works without him? If so that's a good sign. Does it have good enough card draw on it's own and the ability to use him multiple times? He is without a doubt one of the most powerful cards ever released because his algorithm is very well written. I would go as far to say as he is on par with the unnerfed version of Yogg-Saron, Hope's End, which in itself acted as a game mulligan and more and swung games when overdraw did not occur.
Using him when you can and at different points can alter the game drastically as well. His low cost means that you can slot Witchwood Piper in to help secure him. There is so much he can do and offer. I think having him will be a positive experience for anybody
