This week's brawl is Your Standard Brawliseum
Rules:
Welcome back gladiator! Build a deck for Standard format this time and compete for glorious prizes!
This Brawl is much like an Arena run, where every loss gets counted and after your 3rd loss your deck is retired, but every win gets you better rewards, up to 12 wins.
Entry Fee:
The first entry is FREE! Further entries cost only 150 gold this time instead of the usual 1000 gold in the Heroic Brawl.
Reward:
Different rewards for different scores. An 0-3 score will only get you a very small reward. A 12 win run will get you a massive chest of rewards.
Have a really strong deck for this Brawl? Build it in our Deckbuilder and add a good guide, then mark it as a Tavern Brawl deck for the current Brawl while saving and share it with the world!
is it ending tomorrow or on wednesday? it says it ends in 4 days, but usually it ends in sunday midnight..
They changed it, sometimes it's worth it to pay attention to the patch notes. There's only going to be 1 hour between brawls.
shitty company being shitty company, it's been the what time now,
i guess you guys cant stand a simple opinion or truth about the shitty company
Well, if I can rank up and get 12 wins in the Brawliseum and you can't with this deck, then the only conclusion I can make is, you're playing it wrong/bad at the game and I'm simply better at the game than you are. It's kind of that simple. Sorry the deck isn't working out for you, maybe go back to something easier to navigate. I hear zoo does well.
It may be "that simple" to you, but as I and the rest of the people here said the most likely explanation is that you were very lucky and did not face any of the rest of the decks that just walk all over it, or that you miraculously got all your combo pieces in place very quickly and hit face without taunts in the way - not that we are playing it wrong.
You know that you can just concede and get free pack?
First brawl is free.
If you believe you the only win condition is inner fire/Divine shield, then you're not very good at the game. I'm not trying to suggest anyone play it, but you might not come across as such a douche if you did. I was asked to link the deck that got 12 wins and I did.
But, think what you want I guess, I'm tired of trying to convince random nobody's that don't even bother trying it that the deck performs well.
Of course I played it (this and similar others) and I realised that it is poor. And yes, its main win condition is to get the combo running while missing any board clears, single target removal and with quite a few cards being very situational and sitting dead in your hand. If you don't get it to work, then if you are lucky enough to get the quest online you are simply relying on buffing minions with your hero power while the opponent is free to go face, to sit comfortably behind plenty of shield points while DrBoom-ing mechs, or generally to have plenty of time to fully develop his/her game plan. That is my honest opinion (similar to the other ones) and it has a place here exactly as yours has.
You can always take one of the top decks last expansion and do good the first few days when you have your free ticket. No need for any new cards.
Got 7 or 8 wins with singleton mage, 3rd loss way 1hp close.
Went 12 wins with shaman! :D
This should be a permanent standalone mode.
Damn straight! As a legend player who hasn't bought packs since frozen throne, this is an amazing way to grind gold and packs if I don't feel like playing arena (also in arena you don't get 10g per 3wins). I would understand the complaints of casuals, if they didn't give a free, a FUCKING FREE run, which is better than a single pack even if you go 0-3. Of course some will say, we like brawls for the fun of it. 9 out of 10 brawls are a chore to play. The only ones that are worth replaying after you get the pack, are the ones that you play as special characters or the chess one like last week.
In 3 years, Blizz may announce this as a new mode
Lost to 3 control warriors *sigh*
Thanks, comment section, for not disappointing again. Blizzard gives you a mode with more rewards than a regular brawl, and everybody complains. If people would actually not play it, they would not keep returning it every so often, so suck it up, take your rewards and wait for the next time your favourite brawl, probably Spiders Everywhere, returns.
I actually went against several zoo decks. In fact, I think a majority of them after win 7 or 8 were some form of token/swarm/zoo style deck. Not much in the way of control at all.
Then either they all had a pretty bad deck, or all terrible draws. I'd like to know, with that list, what you do against 8/8 stats on turn 3, not even counting what came on turn 1 & 2, or 7/8 on turn 4 after a 4/5 on turn 3...
I played an obelisk priest with WAY more removal than you and still won. He couldn't keep a single creature on the board even after he had obelisk up.
It's all luck of the draw but generally speaking I'd play either Injured Tol'vir or Injured Blademaster + circle if I could to get an early board/card draw and if I was lucky, Psychopomp one of them come T4. The few times I managed that, the game was almost easy and that did happen a few times. I also relied fairly heavily on Wild Pyro to clear up some wide boards.
Psychopomp almost singlehandedly won me several games against zoo. Now whether they were bad decks or had terrible draws, I couldn't say. They were at least good enough to reach 8+ wins but they seemed pretty run of the mill to me.
Edit: Forgot to mention the occasional Turn 1 Northshire into Turn 2 Extra Arms. Again though, I simply adapted to the situation. The only time I lost was to a druid and that was only because I pretty much drew every single spell in my deck and couldn't stick any of my card drawing engines, though he was playing some token variant.
You could get a early board against zoo... You're proving my point. I'd like to change my statement to "lucky to not meet a good zoo with a reasonable draw."
If you get an early board against zoo it's either a bad Zoo or some incredibly bad luck, nothing of the sort of turn 3 3/3 + 5/5 that happens more often than not (and that neither of the creatures you said can easily clear) or swarming with lackeys and clearing all creatures with carpet whether you had the chance to buff them or not. If I get a hand where my lowest cost creature is 3 or more... Well, you wouldn't even get to know I'm Zoo becuase I can pretty much concede then and there no matter what deck you play. Same as you when getting a hand full of spells.
Psychopomp turn 4 is insane, yes. By turn 4 with a reasonable draw when you have no clears I can handle pretty much anything you throw at me, especially taking into consideration you can't have the quest by then.
P.S. Good for you for getting 12 wins. I guess I'll get back to you if I ever meet your kind of priest since we'll never meet on the battlelfield otherwise.
