Theorycrafting Livestreams Recap with Decklists
Thursday saw a Livestream event, first from Blizzard HQ, later from all around the world, where streamers could play with the new Saviors of Uldum cards, and try and build all the new theorycrafted decks as well as compete with them against other theorycrafted decks.
Many cool things happened, but our favorite moment came when Alliestrasza, playing Rogue, managed to play a board full of Mogu Cultist summoning Highkeeper Ra and then COPIED the Highkeeper to her deck several times. Sadly this wasn't enough to win, because her opponent, Dekkster, was playing a Paladin Highlander deck with Sir Finley of the Sands which had given him an upgraded Warrior Hero Power, which had lead to him having full health plus some 40 armor. Maybe it will work next time!
Here's some of the decklists we saw used by your favourite streamers, some for the memes, and some really strong:
Kripparrian:
This deck revolves around getting High Priest Amet out, buffing him, playing Boar, Topsy Turvying him and hitting face. Watch it in action!

Alliestrasza:
Alliestrasza didn't just meme it up with the Mogu Cultist deck, she played this Big Dragon Mage too, which lead to some hilarious Yogg's Puzzlebox turns.

TrumpSC:
A Highlander deck with 2 copies of a card?! Yep, not an accident! Trump says he expects about a 70% chance that by the time he could play Dinotamer Brann, he would have already drawn one of the Hyena Alpha's. Watch gameplay footage and see if his bold strategies pay off!

Slysssa:
Slysssa brought a more no-nonsense approach to the Theorycraft Livestreams (while wearing a Murloc hoodie) and played this Quest Shaman deck. Once the quest is complete you can bring some serious face damage in a hurry. Watch this strong deck in action!

RegisKillbin:
RegisKillbin was perhaps the most prolific in trying out new decks, and one of the things he spent some time trying to pull off was the Linecracker + BEEEES!!! combo. And he actually succeeded, 80 damage to the face!

Dekkster:
For our last deck today we bring you Dekkster's Quest Burgle Tess Rogue. It wasn't just a fun deck, it was downright unfair sometimes. Copying 12 Tess's into your deck shouldn't be allowed (according to his opponents). Watch that and more unfold on his stream from yesterday!

Saviors of Uldum Card List and Expansion Guide
Learn more and see all the cards in our dedicated expansion guide.
Because that would practically defeat the drawback those effects have. Not to mention that start of game has already proven to be too consistent
How would that defeat the draw back of the highlander decks? you’d have to start the game with only one copy of any card, in fact its slightly more of a draw back because you can’t even risk having two copies of a single card like trump with the hyenas, and you’d still have to play the card for the effect. I just think the highlander cards should make sure the Singleton box was checked at the start of the game instead of at the time it’s played.
Unless your saying the drawback of an AUTOMATIC loss to bomb warrior in standard is the right way to design cards. Which I disagree with.
Because if you changed Highlander effects to that, then you can start using cards that add copies of X to your deck. Imagine if Highlander Hunter was able to get away with running dire frenzy for example? Or other classes running cards of a similar effect.
Plus we've already experienced an era where highlander decks were absurd. Priest in particular, had to get nerfed for being such a good highlander class. I would rather there be options to counter a highlander deck, rather than outright nerf them.
I disagree that having one or two cards lose their activated ability for a time constitutes an AUTOMATIC loss. That's why you play 28 other cards that do things.
Those decks are easily 40% less effective without those 2 key cards. Try to build a highlander deck with out them. Replace those cards with river crocs let me know how well they do. I’m genuinely interested.
I do understand the issue with the dire frenzy, but I think hunter is the only one of the the four with highlander card that can do that in this expansion cause rogue wouldn’t make a highlander for just zephyrs. Also I think that these Reno-cards are a lower power level then all the old ones.
i don't see any bomb warrior list :D would have been fun against reno decks ...
Why play bomb Warrior when u can have fun with the new decks?
Lol how to broke and entire marketing campaign with one deck
The bomb warriors will start to show up after the first week when everyone is done experimenting with the new cards.
and that's when blizzard will have to make it so that several bombs do not disable the highlander cards bonuses ...
play arena or wild at least
Memo333 u right and I think same as u,Need more balance changes each month when season ends.
You must be fun at parties.
why on earth are you even here?
They can't be meta, if they are not in the game yet...
**offtopic**
i am not a huge fan of "pre-release-events" like this
i would rather like to see streamers playing with the new cards + funny deckbuilding ground-rules instead of streamers trying to "solve" the meta. all what it does is shorten the fun of the new expansion ladder experience atleast thats what i experienced since they do this sort of events. ofc streamers always will have an influence on the current meta and it just takes hours within a new expansion until many people will "copy" their decks but now every non-streamer can just sit and watch how streamers try to "solve" the meta days in advance.
I watched quite a bit of the streams yesterday, from all different viewpoints, and I don't think these streamers were really trying to solve the meta in advance. Most of their stream viewers were pressuring them to make the most meme filled decks you could think of, and as we know streamers will usually listen to their viewers, since those viewers pay their bills.
It's true that most of the streamers also made an effort to make the best possible deck given the circumstances, but the circumstances were often chat spamming tentacle emotes for the streamer to put Octosari in his deck and so on. With that in mind there's only so much a streamer can do to make a deck that would actually work on ladder.
Me too. I really hate that now people have decks to copy paste even before the expansion goes live. I dont like this pre release stuff at all and for me it kills some of the fun because ladder only is fun when no one knows what to play. I mean last time kirpp played bomb warrior and told everyone how insane it is and then on day one the ladder was like 80 % bomb warrior.
Bomb warrior is not due to Krip in the slightest. Bomb warrior was a meme long before those cards due to the legendary that adds a mine to the opponent's deck. Not to mention. Blizzard pushed for bomb warrior to happen, people were going to run all the bomb cards already, with out any streamer influence, due to it being a practically fresh win condition.
People start theorycrafting in earnest the moment the last card is revealed.
Events like this have nothing to do with "solving" the meta. That is done by better deck-builders than these people, and it happens regardless of anything that happens on any stream.
Theroycrafted decks have been available on day one of every expansion in Hearthstone history, but it takes thousands and thousands of games before they get refined to their ultimate state. One preview stream is not going to change that.
If you don't like it, don't watch it, and rest assured it won't have as much impact on the meta as you fear. Or do watch it and use the knowledge to come up with decks that beat these, so you can have an advantage over all the sheep on day one.
