Pilfer is from your opponent's class*
Well the card is not up to date. With the last patch and the removal of Mind Blast and Vanish the wording of Pilfer got changed to : )from another class)
quite hyped to try this out!
so is this quest dead in the mirror match?
You could use Clever Disguise and Bazaar Mugger
It's not. For the last two or so expansions any time Blizzard have printed a thief rogue card they've used the wording "from another class" instead of "from your opponent's class", specifically to allow the archetype to work in the mirror match.
See Hench-Clan Burglar, Pilfer, Stolen Steel and even Vendetta.
Spectral Cutlass may be great, but since people are teching against it, this would see play.
The main problems that people have with this quest are a little bunk.
Giving up your turn one:
If you have the cat, I would probably still play it. This quest is unreasonably easy to achieve that playing it later is fine.
Cutlass is better:
Yes, but late game cutlass is primarily used to trade until you set up lethal. Weapon removal is also prevelant based on the meta and can return.
As many have said, you complete this easily by playing rogue, not a deck specifically tailored to complete it.
rogue already has no turn one...
edit; my bad i just saw the new cat card
Why should I play this when there is the Spectral Cutlass. This quest is really pointless. It can be played in the same deck of Spectral Cutlass but it is much worst.
It can be played in the same deck, but there are many decks that this can be played in and cutlass can't. You don't need weapon buffs for this card and you don't need as many steal cards. You're also not relying on a specific card with otherwise dead buffs in your hand and you don't get hard countered by weapon removal. Cutlass is also a tempo loss when you first play it.
Man this card sucks and it is pointless. Spectral Cutlass. is far better even if you say the contrary. And no, are really pointless both.
Condition meant to be satisfied in a burgle rogue -> Reward for aggro rogue
(?)
People seem to underestimate that playing this in your deck also implies that you start every game with 1 less card in your hand, and thats a HUGE deal for aggro decks! Yes the new Questing Explorer exists but you won't draw that every time before the quest is completed, not to count that you will also have to skip playing a 1 drop on 1. Also as others already pointed out, dealing 3 damage each turn is not going to win against control warrior or Grave Horror and you are going to lose board against other aggro decks cause you spent turn 1 doing nothing and are playing with 1 less option than your opponent for the majority of the game. That being said this is a good card for the slow bourgly/value/control rogue which is not the most competitive of rogue's archetype but is surelly a fun one that many players enjoy playing, myself included. Just look at this as a Spectral Cutlass that can't be removed, also you always have it in your opening hand so you don't need to run more than one or tutor cards such as Raiding Party or Cavern Shinyfinder to grab it, just play more burgle cards, more fun!
How many rogue archetypes currently play 1 drops though? South Sea deckhand is virtually the only one. I'd say 90% of rogues I've versed (or when I play rogue) turn 1 is skipped. Turn 2 is more often than not, coin in to Miscreant.
Pilfer is the only other 1 mana card I've seen Rogues use consistently, but that can be saved.
True but now Pharaoh Cat will be a staple 2 off in every rogue deck. Also my main point was that aggro can't play the quest cause having 1 less option in hand is just too much of a downside, they need to win the board on turn 1-2-3 and you can't consistenly do that if you get the -1 from the quest
Pharaoh Cat it's not even that good of a card, there is a lot of reborn minions you dont want to in Rogue and a bunch of them are neutral.
Most reborn minions are neutral, which means you can play the Pharaoh Cat on turn 1. The quest is very easy to complete as well, so you could just play it later
I wish to get a rogue quest which doesnt prevent using spectral weapon -_- hearthstone s boosting aggro archtetype. Again..
Immune is so powerful, I think alot ofpeople are underestimating how good this. Deal 3 dmg twice for 2 mana is super good value, and not many decks can take constant chip dmg from Rogue. Really nice late game tool too for fatigue races.....
