Solid Card to counter Token decks to some degree although it can be played around to some degree.
i reckon it will see play , mage have got some powerful secret synergy this expansion and a little from last so secret mage will pop up and this will be in it.

Explosive Trap Just upgraded
Costs 1 more, does 1 more damage, doesn't damage the enemy hero, doesn't trigger from weapon attacks, won't kill the attacking minion before it can do its damage. I'm not saying this won't see play though; it's a solid card. But I wouldn't call it an upgrade.
ok this does no face damage so maybe aggro secret hunters would still run explosive trap. but this is a stronger card, no doubt about it, 3 damages instead of 2 is a big difference. biggest flaw of explosive and consecration is doing only 2 (with cons u can use pyromancer). also, as someone pointed out, fact that it isnt triggered by weapons can be an advantage: you can trigger explosive on an empty board and then you drop your minions, with this at least 1 minion must take 3 damages. it costs 1 more but it's worth it
Explosion trap is better ... This new card hits only minion, not face
It's a control card, not an aggro card. Mage lacks a lot of good early AOE effects. If control mage ever becomes a thing again, I think this secret will fit right in.
If they stick with the terrible specialist format for season two this will be a sideboard card for sure. It's not explosive trap for sure but it's still an effective tool against something mage was vulnerable to. It's also kind of a direct nerf to Magic Trick since it dilutes to discovery pool. Not the kind of card you need in most matches.

It basically cant act as Ice Block the way Explosive Trap occasionally can since this one takes in the first piece of damage before triggering, hence maybe not helping you survive efficiently enough after all, at least in as many games as you'd hope. Plus the fact that a minion has to attack in order to trigger this
Fire trap see plays in aggressive meta. Mage of course has much more aoe, than hunter, but anyway I think it may come hand as early clear.

it's funny how i'm more hyped for this simple common card than for the two mage legendaries :D
